Agree.

Motion to pull image.

Image shows no lack of soul.

I can see the soullessness, actually. The Scary Shiny Glasses-esque eyes, hollow heart symbol on her chest, bloody knife, Slasher Smile, and it being a little girl work. At least for me, anyway. I'm pretty sure there's bloodstains in the room she's leaving, too.

Vote to keep.

[up] No, it just looks like a generic "creepy little girl who kills people" that's been done to death.

It's appropriate, part of being The Soulless is that acharacter becomes creepy and psycho.

Still, if you have an alternative in mind thats demonstrably better, I'd change my vote.

[up] The trope is literally about people who have no soul, not just psychos. +1 unpicturable.

[up][up] That's pretty decent...but did you mean the third panel?

I did mean the third panel. I think I counted the chart in the first panel as a panel.

...

....

That suggestion doesn't work on any level.

Please.

Sadly, he's right. That'd be perfect for empty shell, but...

'When a character loses their Soul, they normally become a listless Empty Shell or transform into The Heartless; the Soulless, however, are active, rational, and still recognizably human in almost every sense. They just lack a soul.'

Do we have a trope for an empty shell of a person? We do. Empty Shell. I'll suggest it there.

Empty Shell. It's pictureless, too.

I'm going to vote for the soulless being unpicturable. There's plenty of examples, but it's not a trope where you can identify someone as soulless with a glance.

...although...

This is the closest I can see as a picture for the page, and even this is tenuous. Alexia is a textbook example, but like most examples, there's nothing about her to indicate it. Just the title.

Exactly. I think this is an unpicturable trope.

I agree with pulling the current image.

Do we want to drop shimaspawn's suggestion on the Empty Shell page?

Just a thought...would the essence-drained gnome-things from The Dark Crystal count for thsi trope?

The current image is of a soulless person doing things the trope is about. Yes, it's a "creepy girl who kills people", but it's still a person who is one of The Soulless acting like The Soulless - since the trope is about soulless people who act soulless instead of just not acting as Empty Shell is, I think the page image is perfectly appropriate, and could only really be bested by an image showing "before/after" of removal of a soul.
