Well... Distribution of screentime is odd and the story is pretty simple at times so... I think you might find Sailor Moon is the person around whom everything revolves in the main series.

Which isn't to say all the supporting cast aren't developed, but... Well I feel the manga in particular handles showing us different perspectives poorly.

The anime, OTOH, is a mixed bag. It gives the other Senshi a lot more of emotional spotlight and days in the limelight, but also makes them extremely more dependant on Usagi for fighting, because they can't even kill a single Monster of the Week without her, since the animators couldn't be bothered to make stock footage finisher sequences for the whole team.

I thought the manga dedicated some chapters of it to the other girls, or at least the other Inners?

Because Metaria/Metallia, the first Big Bad who is The Man Behind the Man to Big Bad Wannabe Queen Beryl, is an Omnicidal Maniac Eldritch Abomination that originates from the Sun, and it was the reason the Moon Kingdom and its Silver Millennium was destroyed. (spoiler-tagged for Mullon's sake)

Interesting. I still think it was a better question than why there isn't a Sailor Earth though.

From what I understand, while not a Senshi, Mamoru represents the earth.

I didn't know that.

Oh Christachi, my sister is so crazy about that censored anime version with crappy done Polish voiceover (so inaccurate translation it hurts). Hey, but it's better than nothing, since she isn't used to reading subtitles.

I was under the impression Helios the Pegasus was supposed to represent the Sun, and that's why he was paired off with Chibusa, heiress of the Moon, to stand for the old Sun-Moon duality.

Not in-universe, I think.

I read the first volume. I hope Usagi grows into her role as leader because right now it seems like Designated Protagonist Syndrome.

And the part where she gets drunk and passes out and Tuxedo Mask kisses her is fucked up.

In fact, by the end of the series, she's not only a capable leader, but by then, she would make the entire Dragon Ball verse her complete and utter bitch in a battle.

OTOH, that only makes her more Mary Sueish, because she's given Special Snowflake Syndrome. And to be honest, most of her victories come because she's given a permanent Plot Coupon. She isn't a bad leader, but not particularly better at all than, say, Manga Venus.

As opposed to her Anime incarnation, who was never allowed to evolve as a character at all.

I heard the manga version is more willing to kill enemies too, though depending on how you feel about redeeming enemies vs killing them, that may or may not be better.

I think the anime version also evolved a little, it was just far more subtle.

Frankly, I think most of the 'character evolution' manga Usagi got was from Klutz to Drama Queen, although that's also because the stories kept becoming more melodramatic, reaching a ridiculous point by the Stars arc.

Well that's true. She certainly became braver. Capable in battle however...

That seemed to vary based on how funny it was.

If the Team behind Pretty Cure makes the anime, maybe they can add Martial Arts to the Sailor Moon fights.

Maybe not Usagi, but canonically Mako-chan and Haruka should be able to kick some ass going hand-to-hand.

I can accept adding more action sequences for Makoto, as I think she's canonically the only member of the inner senshi with any kind of martial arts training. Thaaaaat said, lack of martial arts training never stopped any of the newbie Pre Cures from kicking arse, who we'll just have to see.

Anyway, all of this is just assumption-making, as there's literally no details out on the production yet.

Speaking of Pretty Cure, I am hoping for Sailor Moon/Pretty Cure crossover.

That would be interesting.

Especially if they went for all the cure series. As a collective group, there may actually be more of them than the Senshi, who are one of the largest magical girl groups around.

Plus, Pretty Cure is arguable the true Spiritual Successor to Sailor Moon.

I'm hoping for a Sailor Moon/Madoka Magica crossover that ends with a heartwarming Rousing Speech from the spiritual mother of the modern Magical Girl Warrior genre ^note I consider Cutey Honey to be the grandmother of the genre, given that it was Sailor Moon who introduced the now typical Sentai aspect into it along with codifying Cutey Honey's original Magical Girl Warrior. to the genre's "newest generation".
