Yeah, since the girls (and Ryu) get most of the focus it's easy to forget there are a whole bunch of male characters too…
I knew there were men in the cast, just not that there were so many.
Beat the shit out of each other over a Motorcycle.
Go out for drink afterwards.
God, I love fighting games.
Hmmm knew Rig was a guy from the get go, as soon as his data was leaked months back. So for Rig
- A Canadian!
- TKD user who is not Korean? Pretty rare for a fighting game.
- Gritty street fighter look to him
- Hoodie costume is cool and fits his character, but I don't like his haircut. Looks like something a generic Western game protag would have.
- Can't help but feel he's supposed to appeal more to Western gamers. I can see him being divisive as a result. His design could be a bit better though.
Hmm he looks like he has the potential to be a decent character, I think his face/hair could be more distinct though as he comes off a bit bland. I'm interested in seeing how his fighting style will play out. He does add a nice mix of manly/cool in the cast for the males, but my biggest concern is that he turns out boring and non distinct.

I remember when I got Dead or Alive 3 I thought it was the best looking game that I had ever seen. And while I know that it makes absolutely no sense, I swear that it looks better than the newer games. Must be nostalgian something fierce.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.@ Bad Wolf: Hey, to be fair, there have been guys there from the beginning (and there's been at least one male added per game). It's just... y'know.
Also, I'm pretty sure Rig is Liam O Brien and Bass is Travis Willingham.

More Liam O Brien is good Liam O Brien.
Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.Christie sounds like Laura Bailey too.
I seriously can't think of any clever joke. They said Bass is done by Patrick Seitz. And I seriously got more Ragna vibes than Relius when Bass was shouting.
Who wants bunny ears?

The costumes are for Kasumi, Ayane, and an elected third character. In the USA, it is a pre-command bonus; in Japan it is offered for the first customers.

Huh. So much for having a mature outlook on their own games. Seriously though, preorder bonus? Beeeeee Essssss.
As for Rig... You're telling me Dead Or Alive got a Canadian fighter before Street Fighter? I am aghast. Not a huge fan of his design, but the fact that he isn't twice as wide and sporting a giant lumberjack beard means he's... Well, it means he's different from every other Canadian fighter I've ever seen ever.
Well, Raven is in S Fx T, so technically, Namco managed to get a Canadian in their fighting game before Tecmo.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.Oh there are other Canadian fighters too like that big guy from Virtua Fighter. But I always thought Street Fighter would love to jump on the national stereotype train. Come on, they gave Turkey Hakan. Hakan is awesome. I want a Hakan.
Rig works I guess. He doesn't have breasts, though, so I doubt I'll be playing as him much.
I'm curious about this Rig guy. I kinda like his design (although it seems kind of generic) and I like Taekwondo, due to it's kick-heavy nature, since I use kicks a lot (hell, I always preferred Jhun Hoon over Kim Kaphwan in KOF, because he only uses kicks). I doubt that he will replace Zack as my favorite male character, though.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.KING FREAKIN LION is Canadian as well, IIRC.
What, the dude from Kizuna Encounter who wears roman armor and fights with Red Boxing Gloves? That's... Hilarious. He's still no match for hispanic female katana-rambo from the same game though.
...I @$%ing love fighting games.
There has been some videos and it seems like... the reception was a little not so good...
Said who exactly?
The comments seem pretty positive for what I read.
As for the videos themselves, counters looked less frequent than before, or maybe they just refrained from using them. Some grabs look a tad bit overpowered (one of the players lampshades it about Bayman). Gameplay-wise though, I'm not an expert, so I can't really say if there are improvements compared to previous games…
Graphically though, there are plenty of fun details like Zack losing his wig, clothes getting wet or Kasumi's dress being, err… sensitive to the wind. The fights and environments are really very lively.
edit: when I talked about overpowered grabs… look at 1:30, seriously…

Well, part of the reason why it was so damaging is because it was a counter throw. Getting hit by any hi counter throw sucks, especially when it's the Izuna Drop.
Oh, so that was it… now that you say it…

I hope that isn't all for Jann Lee, for a classic character not to get his own Viginete is just wrong, heck, even Bass got one along with Rig.
To be fair, I don't really think Jann Lee ever got too much in the way of deep characterization. I mean, yeah, the whole Bruce Lee-fanboy bit is cool, but it's practically all we know about his past.
As a bit of a personal side-note: I finally got my preorder for the collector's edition paid off a couple of days ago!
and Bass, was he ever a deep character?
I'm not talking about plot relevance, I'm talking about legacy relevance, whom both Bass and Jann Lee has plenty in DOA.
No, just unexpected. Then again, fully half the playable cast (if you count Hayate and Ein separately, which Dimensions did) is male, so I guess it's not as strange as it seems.
