Them's Fightin' Herds (f.k.a. Fighting is Magic)

I know Persona 4 Arena Ultimax does it, but I don't think many other fighting games do.

Contributed the $15 tier. Gonna get myself a digital copy when it comes out...in 2017

From what I've seen of my limited pool of popular fighting games, it's almost always the "click button to get matchmaking window with spinny graphic" kind of implementation. This kind of lobby is usually more of an MMO or hack and slash genre type of thing.

EDIT: Hey, now, 18-month dev cycles are impressively fast in this day and age.

I don't play fighting games, but this one's interesting enough I just might go for it. Fifteen dollars for a copy is something I can swing.

I like fighting games. I'm just not fantastic at them.

I'll try to git gud at this one though!

I've never played a fighting game before XD Except for Soul Calibur, but that's I think slower than most.

I used to play them a bunch back in the day. Stuff like Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat 1-3, MvC 1 and 2, Tekken 3, Tekken Tag, Smash Bros 64 and Soul Edge. But the genre kind of fell out of favour for me and I haven't really touched it much in ages. The closest thing to a resurgence I had was Smash Brawl and the original FF Dissidia.

Still, I feel compelled to donate because, one, they're indie; two, I get a strong sense of setting and character, even from what little they've released; and three, they've smartened up and actually gotten a legal department.

Donated! I've been waiting for this for a while now.

Out of all the characters, not!Twilight Oleander sounds the most interesting to me. Anyone remembers how Twilight used to handle in the old game? I don't remember the book trick from that time.

And Paprika's face cracks me up every time. Those eyes!

Arizona's probably gonna be my main, and not just because I like Applejack xD

All that being said I do hope that they put some more characters in. They've said on their Tumblr that they'd like to make more if they got enough money for it, including some male characters.

I also find myself drawn toward Oleander. Being a Twi expy aside, she also reminds me of one of my characters. It's also totally not because too much time around MLP generally makes me want to hug any horse character. >.> Seriously, though, I'm a pretty big fan of the concept of dark not being evil, so her backstory intrigues me.

Well, at least we've still got at least two more to come. We still need a Dash expy, but who knows what number seven is. They also said they may consider stretch goals once the main goal is met and I have a feeling that more characters is going to be one of the very first stretch ideas.

Eh. Oleander is kinda interesting. I'm mostly disappointed that there wasn't a counterpart to Rainbow Dash announced.

That said, I'll have to play with the characters in order to decide my main. Rainbow Dash very closely matched the kind of characters I normally play as, so without a Dash counterpart I'm not sure.

Maybe Velvet or Paprika. Though Velvet sounds much more interesting, and gosh she's pretty.

After reading the story written up by Lauren Faust, I'm droppin' some WM Gs on this thread!

The ones who are breaking the barriers of the prisons that lock the Predators within their pocket dimension are the precursors to the races Foenum. They believe the Hoofed tribes would have advanced enough so that peaceful relations between them the Predators could be reached, but for some reason the Predators started coming out completely berserk. The Precursors have no idea why its happening and want to investigate the matter further and they insist the Hoofed protagonists not to relock the prisons again. Of course, the protagonists refuse, forcing the Precursor to send out the final boss.

Said final boss is the King of the Predators. The fiercest, most cunning, and most powerful of them all, even the other predators fire him, calling him the Predators of Predators. His mere presence strikes fears into the heroes, even the ditzy love freak Paprika, just from the fact that he wears the skin and body parts of all of his kills, and his looks are reminiscent to the demonic forces summoned by Oleander. He fights the protagonists with attacks and moves beyond their comprehension: Firing bolts of sharp stone from his massive wings; a large snout that fires blasts of hot sharpnel; claws and fangs of metal that can rend flesh with ease; a long stinger that can pierce the thickest of hides; and shoots out balls of gas that shoots out obscuring fog, toxic gas, or blinding light.

After a long, hard fought battle, the King of Predators is defeated.....but before the protagonist can reseal the barriers keeping the Predators in, the King himself gets back up......ON TWO LEGS, something which only the BEARS could do! The King then throws off his costume, and reveals himself to be a creature that is truly the greatest predator all: Man. Specifically, an ancient tribal hunter picked up by the precursors millenia ago to act the guardian of the predators of Foenum. The only training he received from the precursors was how to use his shotgun.

Ladies and gentlemen, our first HIF fanfiction!

Officially backing the game! As well as getting some sweet backer-exclusive palette swaps.

I can't decide between alpaca, puppies, or long-distance moveset.

Me and Arizona are gonna kick some tail xD I'm not the kind of person that can pay for palette swaps though, so I just donated 15 dollars to get a digital copy at release.

I'm going to wait for new character announcements before I make any decisions. None of the current characters match my playstyle (fast, furious.. essentially what RD was).^note For reference, I play Yosuke in P4 Arena Ultimax, and Pikachu in Smash 4. Though Velvet looks like she'll be fun to play as.

I can also see why they'd take away a character with RD's playstyle though.

Also! more characters, either to unlock or DLC or whatever, is essentially confirmed.◊

I'm in for a digital soundtrack. The music is sweet as hell. I'll never use physical stuff anyway.

C Ds are kind of obsolete now anyway since you can download most music and games off the internet on various sites.

It's nice to have a physical copy to display sometimes.

Just found out there's another main character confirmed. She can be found hidden away in the kickstarter backer art, and in the lobby video.

Why she's so hidden away is beyond me, but I'm down for an interesting reveal.

I like having C Ds and such still. It's especially helpful when I'm trying watch my college budget on my Pay Pal card and I happen to have some material money from folks or such to pay for physical copies of movies, games, or music I happen to find. Well, that and collections and presence and such.
