Still Not A Brony. Still interesting in playing this, should it ever be released.

I think the reason they haven't said anything about the game in a while is because they are trying to figure out how to work with the Skullgirl's engine they recieved. Trying to restart a gaming project from scratch with an entirely new fighting game engine takes quite some time getting used to you know.

Good thing Tribute Edition is there to tide us over til some news comes up.

I'm still not really looking forward to it, no matter how far it goes. The original idea's death (along with the rapidly-declining quality of the series in general thanks to the same people) is a big reason why I'm not even close to being a brony anymore.

The new designs look good, yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm just looking at a hollow shell.

I don't know what seasonal rot you're looking at, but whatever.

It may not be the game it was supposed to be, but I'm still looking forward to it. I mean, what other fighting game out there at the moment have a cast 4-legged fighters? That'd bring something interesting to the Street Fighter/Tekken/King of Fighter-filled fighting game tourneys. Also, the fighting game community needs something like Skullgirls and Fighting is Magic to make more people come to it because really, a lot of the community are really anal about their fighters. It's the reason PSASBR didn't flourish when SSBM still has that "Fox-Only" thing. People in the community need to be more accepting when it comes to fighters.

So, we need some originality and fun, and I'm sure this game will bring it.

[up]Right now, it just seems like you're just getting pissed off about the existence of Tournament Play. The Playstyle Wars wasn't even my point.

I don't doubt that it's original, and it'll likely be fun. But, I can't just un-see that the roster is made up of Suspiciously Similar Substitutes. The Llama is Schpinkie Schpie. The Cow is Schmappleschmack. The deer is Schmainbow Schmash. You can see that the whole thing's just a ghost of what it used to be.

Yeah, I kinda went a little out there. That stuff wasn't aimed at you, it's just something I needed to get off my chest. It's been boiling in me for a while now, didn't think it'd blow up like that.

I'm not really a fan of the series but I'm related to a fan and I think the most recent ones they've shown me have been pretty good.

But yeah, back to fighting games, I feel that the community is a bit too serious. The community needs some fun, everyone's being subjected to rules and tiers and they try to find combos in a game that doesn't really have any while bashing games that have plenty of potential.

Anyways, I'm still looking forwards Fighting is Magic, it'll probably help lighten up the FGC.

[up]Even though I agree with you that things are way too stuffy, Combos and Character Tiers don't take away anything, and the insistence that they do is, if you ask me, every bit as stuffy.

I'm working on a YKTTW at the moment to clear things up on both sides, because right now, everyone on both sides of the Playstyle Wars is hopelessly confused.

[up]Yeah, the thing is, nobody doubts that. Character Tiers are just a tool to measure players who are on the exact same skill level.

So there will most definitely be tiers for this game. Do you have to follow them? Nope. It does help, though, to look at what got a certain character to a point on a tier list so you can exploit it in your favorite.

Really, my only complaint about the game is that the new characters aren't different enough from who they used to be. I don't want to be able to tell which pony that they're an Expy of. It's just too depressing.

Eh, if ya look at it that way. I guess I'm too cheery to think like that. I just see new stuff, still play.

"rapidly-declining quality of the series in general"

Are we watching the same show here? Season 3 was mediocre, yes, but 4 has been (mostly) consistently above average, with its ongoing arc and its Weird Al guest spot and its Coco Pommel. I don't think I've enjoyed a season this much since the first, honestly...

Just watched the release trailer for Tribute Edition. I must say, if I didn't have too many games to play with as is, I'd definitely give it a spin.

Got my stick to work using Joy 2 Key. The combo system feels kinda funky, but hopefully I'll get into the swing of it. Makes me miss my days of playin' Mahvel, though.
