Also you can tell what the Jaegers look like at a glance instead of having to decipher a mishmash of parts that look like a car wreck that got up and walked away.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"@slimcoder: Trailer song is a heavily orchestrated remix of War Ready by Vince Staples (the "War Ready! War Ready!" chorus) mixed with beats and verses of Untouchable (basically the "Get It On 'till I die!" and everything else) by Tupac.
It's quite the odd beast.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I loved when the riff of the PR theme came in. I gotta echo the concerns over the Jaegers seeming more homogenized and less ponderous and titanic, though. One of the things I liked so much about the original was the midpoint between Super Robot and Real Robot, in a way, with the highly differentiated Jaegers being unique investments by their governments and behaving, for the most part, like gigantic war machines. It really does seem a lot more anime, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not hard to overdo.
Also wondering about the Jaeger on Jaeger fights. Also I'm down for Mini-Mecha, which are objectively best mecha.
It's no Del Toro. But it looks enjoyable.
Btw, not being Del Toro should hardly be seen as a bad thing. I still consider Pan's Labyrinth to be one of the most visually stunning movies ever created, and despite their flaws both Hellboys looked better than, well, every single other superhero movie there has ever been. No man can make fantasy look more organic than Del Toro, aside from Peter Jackson.
I must admit, at first the name and the sticker for the video made me believe it was a prequel starring a young Stacker Pentecost.
It’s definitely going further towards super robot anime, which isn’t a bad thing if done correctly, and can be justified as more advanced technology.
Also wasn’t there a rumor Kaiju/Jeager hybrids?
I thought that was confirmed with the Jeagers with the glowing blue spikes shooting those missiles in the trailer.
They had they same glow that the Kaiju do.
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff. The novelization mentioned something about combining Jaeger tech with Kaiju biology.
With a "0", not an "O".Man, just say they want to make Eva Units
I'm not sure if any of the pilots even have oedipal issues. You can't power an EVA without oedipal issues.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYou can certainly find some daddy issues among Jaeger pilots. That's not the problem. The problem is that when a mech that runs on the ability of the pilot to intimately understand and connect with another person touches an EVA there's a matter-antimatter reaction. And antimatter robots are not very cost-effective.
Holy crap Jaegers are the exact opposite of Evas.
Goddamn that is hilarious.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Huh. I never thought of that.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think not having del Toro would improve it. Because giant robots fighting monsters is Serious Business dammit! Just like the Han Solo film — you can't have fun, dammit!
What? This has nothing to do with the Han Solo film?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I don't understand this.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Not sure I'm too fond of the slow-mo in the teaser.
In the first film, I'm not sure I recall any intentional slow-mo at all. Per recollection, it seemed like if things are slow, it's because a big giant mecha or a big giant kaiju is naturally going to take some time to do whatever it's trying to do.
Here there seems to be a preponderance of slow-motion to emphasize things.
Also my waifu expresses that she dislikes the fact that Jing Tian's in it, she's resisted watching films starring Jing Tian for some time except the draw of a second Pacific Rim is like a barbecue grill next to a hunger striker.
There was slow mo right after Gipsy Danger cleaved through Otachi.
Sure, one or two scenes.
IDK, I think it's a personal fuzzy line between when the slow motion for emphasis is used sparingly versus when it's overused and looks like it's trying too hard.
I wonder if the in-universe reason for solo-pilots is the way kaiju parts are fused with the jaeger. You don't need two human brains to control the mecha because you already have a big kaiju brain in it. I also wonder if this renders the new jaegers vulnerable to psychic attacks.
Why is everyone going on about solo pilots? All the of the good-guy Jaegers are confirmed to have at least two pilots.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! So yeah, new trailer is out.
With a "0", not an "O".Gonna need a good reason for some people deciding to turn quisling in the face of an extinction event. Don't get me wrong, I've seen this plot done well before, but I've seen it done poorly much, much more often.
There was a whole religion in the first film dedicated to worshipping the Kaiju as godly scourges from heaven.
And I thought the trailer looked really cool. I like being able to see more of the Kaiju designs this time.

oh boy white teenage girl with an attitude yay
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.
The Jaegers would have testicles and bleed, too.
