I knew who started this thread even before I opened it!
The only ZNT crossover fic I know is Zero's Judgement: a crossover with To Aru Majutsu No Index in which Kuroko gets summoned. Good read, sadly it's a dead fic at only one chapter.

#IceBearForPresidentI'm very tempted to start a crossover between ZNT and The Dresden Files this way. Any advice?
The only advice I have is rather general. Plot out your story before you write it, don't be afraid to diverge at any time, and add quirks to make your story unique (such as Shirou's inexplicable attraction to reptiles in The Hill of Swords).
An early thing you can do to shake it up is to not do the obligatory Guiche fight.

Oh god, yeah. That's one thing that is practically universal and borderline requirement in ZNK crossover fics.
Unfamiliar is a very notable in that it averts that fight and turns it into something more awesome. I seriously recommend that one, even more so that The Hill Of Swords, for good example material.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The reason that it is so common is that it is a very useful device for a couple of things. First off, it shows the skill of the one summoned so they stop being looked down on. Second, it provides an avenue for getting the first experience as Gandalfr and noticing differences.
Someone already beat me to it. Shoot.
And as for the obligatory Guiche fight...hm, maybe I could try adding a new enemy that attacks soon after the summoning ritual?
A yup. The most hilariously one sided battle was Guiche vs Quirtum in a Negima crossver, where the latter ended up summoning a flaming sword size of a small battleship.
The thing about that obligatory fight is that necessary or not, the format is way, WAY, too repeated with almost no variance AT ALL. It's on its way to being a shortlived Discredited Trope in that fandom.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. Thanks! I'll try not to do the Guiche fight, then.
Well, you don't have to avoid it. I mean, if you can do it in really awesome or fun way, go ahead. It's just that don't try to be so similar with the others.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Gotta say, Unfamiliar is fantastic, but I really wish the author would add a few villains who aren't psychotic misogynists. There are different ways to be evil, y'know.
What's precedent ever done for us?As much as I love the series, I can't argue against that. I don't know, I didn't find it to be too annoying so I haven't noticed it until you mentioned it, but you are right.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. And Hill of Swords was fantastic, but I would have preferred if he diverged from canon more. He thought that that was the worst part of the story too. Fortunately, his current work follows its own path.
Perhaps THAT's why a certain The Stations of the Canon is so prominent.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. There should be more good Naruto crossovers with this series.
Maybe when Naruto was a little kid and before he wanted to become hokage and was all lonely?
It might make Louise think twice about using a riding crop on him.
So, in Zero Shock, Jack uses a goddamned pokeball on Foguet.
This is officially the most unique and hilarious first wild Foquet encounter ever.

For Mahou Sensei Negima fans, I liked Puppets of Zero's character dynamics.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Oh wow, Unfamiliar now even has a cool page picture too! NICE!
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Hey, I got some question for Zn T. I'm writing a cross-over fic with Halo and I need some information on the world. Also, hate to shamelessly promote myself, my fan-fic is called Spartan of Zero and is currently at the fourth chapter.
1. What kind of calendar does the Zn T run in?
2. Do they have an equivalent nation as Russia or any Eastern European countries?
3. How does the language work? i.e, I hand-waved it in my fic with a translation spell.
Thanks!

For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_ZeroZn T is supposed to have a recap season either this Fall or Winter to hype up the final season afterwards, so I recommend you watch that.
The countries are based off of several european countries, don't know if any are based of Russia.
The characters speak French, or at least some derivitive of it. A (botched but still working)translation spell was how the language barrier was resolved in canon.
#IceBearForPresidentA botched silence spell, more precisely, ended up working as a translation spell.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."I made mine only vocal, non-text translation spell. Figured that's the first thing somebody from another language group would was to make them understandable.
For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_ZeroFrench was the lingua franca (Italian for "French language") of medieval times, so anybody high-ranked enough to deal with strangers (as well as everyone in France or its Fantasy Counterpart Culture) would speak French.
As for the spell, it depends if the familiar makes Louise want to shut him/her up or not: That's how it happened in the anime (and probably the other media as well).

Yeah, this branch of crossover fics, thanks to the great The Hill Of Swords, became massively popular. This is a thread for such fics, possible ideas, and other discussions. You may recommend good ones too, of course.
Currently, it seems that the Big 3 are:
Any good ones you know of?
