I know he appears this season, I've had doubts he wouldn't survive this season.

Well, even if he doesn't die, his sanity already has, anyway. In any case, let's wait and see.

Would you imagine the next Kamen Rider series having a female in the title role?

While I wouldn't mind seeing that, I'm pretty sure that would mean that she dies early on...

While it would be neat, nope. There's still a very blatant problem with female riders and, although we are getting more recently, we're nowhere near a female main protagonist. I do wonder if a female secondary could happen at some point though.

"Secondary rider" is the best the series could ever come to. Otherwise it's all toys4boys marketing and etc.

It seems that Japan in general, especially regarding mainstream content (Shonen in particular), has a strong problem with gender, and the fact that we've got different, specific demographics for boys and girls doesn't help either. Kamen Rider is still sold as a "boys" thing, even if we've got more female Riders recently. Strong female presence may be felt as a "threat", I suppose.

I really hope we get to see at least a female secondary Rider sometime, but we're a long way from having a female main one.

And, you know, it's a massive risk that Toei and Bandai have no reason whatsoever to take given they've already got the female market on lockdown. Why take a bet and risk losing to win something they already have?

Well, maybe it could be more likely to happen in a show made for the adult audience, like Amazons?

I don't know if we're gonna have a female main Rider in adult-oriented shows, not in the near future... They are mostly based off the Showa series, when everyone was male. At least, we can see more female leads who leap into action, like Iyu in Amazons Season 2.

Don't get too attached to Iyu, Pipopo might survive Ex-Aid, but Iyu ain't gonna make it out of Amazons. I'm calling it.

Well, we were now focusing more on female Rider presence rather than survivability - I could bet that, if a female Rider ever gets to be the main, she'll probably die or disappear in the end. :P

Now, you can argue that Iyu isn't exactly a Rider even though she's a Sigma, since all Riders in Amazons do follow some standard Rider aesthetic (partial bug design, bikes...) but she doesn't, and so on. But meh, I feel like I wanna treat her as a Rider anyway, as should Tackle be.

But yea, I don't see her surviving Season 2 either

Tackle's more of a Rider than Iyu. Iyu does have a henshin device, but so do Bugsters generals. It could be cool to see her transform (maybe Iota, or another Sigma?) but that's definitely not going to happen.

Well, she was already referred to by the codename Sigma in last week's episode IIRC (and it makes sense, considering how she went through "revival surgery" like the previous Sigma).

So it looks like the people who died really can be brought back. And in the end Kuroto does have some good points. Not sure how I feel about that, but we'll see.

I for one welcome Neo Dan Kuroto. I'm a little mixed on introducing more sympathetic elements to Kuroto's character too, but it's not the end of the world to me if the literal mad genius has a mild change of heart over his momdaughterbugster. ...Doesn't excuse All The Other Shit he's done, naturally, but I'd like to see where this goes.

Though... if people killed by bugsters are stored in proto-gashats, I guess there's no road for a surprise Kiriya comeback huh? Since he was killed by just a Dangerous Zombie Rider instead of a Dangerous Zombie Bugster, and since there's no proto-gashat for Dangerous Zombie as far as we know.

Got too late to the party, so I couldn't tell that Ex-Aid 31 is out.

But I can say that this was a very cool episode. We get "LEL WACKY STUFF" but also plot-relevant content. And Dual Gashats for both Hiro and Taiga. And Neo Dan revealing his hidden motivations. And I dunno why I'm starting to get amused by his Mad Scientist antics... Perhaps it's because of his Hidden Depths, maybe it's because of his Super Mario-esque ressurection... And, of course, Dangerous Zombie will return. And are you ready for Chronos??

Presumably if the whole 'people killed by Bugsters coming back' thing plays out Kiriya is excluded. There are rumours, with some evidence, of him coming back in some form but that could just be for the movie.

My god. That pipe, that jingle, that smugass grin. I can't stop laughing.

Episode 32 is out and it is great.

All the coolness of the "final battle" being quickly overshadowed by Kuroto's dad becoming Cronus, showing how much of an SNK Boss he is by pulling a ZA WARUDO on everyone, Lovelica being permanently destroyed... Geez.

And I've noticed that Masamune keeps calling everyone by the names of their Gashats... I wonder why?

Right. So there was no way we were really gonna have the final battle 32 episodes in (this isn't Decade), but still, this series sure loves Eviler than Thou induced Sorting Algorithm of Evil doesn't it. We've done the Big Bad shuffle so many times, I've almost lost count.
