For me it's Link, Isabelle, or Donkey Kong.
Oh, or Lemmy Koopa, of course! Lemmy is best Koopaling.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Ever since I played it on the Nintendo 64 long ago (though I missed the Gamecube and Wii generations), I've always been Wario.
I have proudly declared that I'm Wario, and I'm gonna win.
I doubt it's he's a perfect guy to play as, but I like him, and I ain't changing for nuthin.
One Strip! One Strip!More and more recently I've found myself switching characters based on how I'm feeling, though my heart will always hold a soft spot for Dry Bones and Tanooki Mario above all others. (...even if the stat calculator I posted earlier insists Bowser Jr. and Luigi are objectively better options, bleh.)
Dry Bones all the way for Battle Mode, though. That sort of instantaneous turn speed just can't be beat when it comes to Shine Thief.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI sometimes just pick whoever, but I seem to often gravitate towards Dry Bones, Dry Bowz, Link, the Inklings, Waluigi and my Miis of Captain Falcon, Samus and Megaman. Miis with appropiate suits, of course. Yay, amiibo.
Not in any particular order of preference, mind you.
Yes, Waluigi is on my list purely thanks to his internet infamy.
I've just been playing Inkling Girl.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI mainly go with Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Rosalina, and Link, though in Deluxe I've mostly been using the Inkling Girl.
Eventually I want to get around to learning to use the sport bikes, but I want to finish beating all the tournaments first.
Any pointers for using the sport bikes?
Reaction Image RepositoryStart drifting sooner than you normally would. Your Handling and Traction are likely going to be lower than you're used to in a kart. Combine that with the much higher top speed and you'll go flying off the track if you turn when you usually do.
Make sure you play around with your tires. Even a half-point change in Traction and Handling can make a noticeable difference with your top speed and these differences become even more noticeable at 150cc and 200cc.
Take your time, play around with your options, and find whatever works best for you. Then input that info into the tool and see if there's a build that's better than yours in every way or nearly every way. You should be good.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I pretty much exclusively use isabelle at all times because best girl.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeWhile I've known for some time that several builds are better at certain things that my main choice sucks at (such as the bikes being better at top speed and acceleration, and heavier characters having better stats while airborne), this database seems to imply that the Sports Coupe is a better choice overall. Yet oddly enough that's the one ride where I was certain that the Circuit Special was the superior choice, especially when paired up with Ludwig, the Cyber Slick tires, and the Cloud Glider.
From the looks of that list, the best recommendation would to use Peach Gold Peach, the Sports Coupe, Slim/Crimson Slim tires and the Super glider. From my experience, that should make for a speedy ride, but awful traction and handling. Guess we'll find out later on tonight...
Speaking of gliding, I can't tell if it's ever faster or not than driving when just going straight.
Obviously it's really nice on the few tracks where it can be used to cut corners or to go over grass and such.
Depends on whether the driver on the ground is turbo-ing, taking advantage of the boost powerslides give, or driving in an area where the terrain somehow makes them faster (Ex a gradual downhill decline). Otherwise, I've noticed that gliding generally does seem faster than driving, even if you have 10 coins and are at top speed.
Man, when did kart racers of all genres get so nuanced!
Thanks for the tips though.
I'm still taking those Switch friend requests! (And will not stop taking them)

Does anybody like the Inkling Boy? The Girl seems to get all the attention!
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?I used Inkling Boy once! Just like everyone else. Except Link, Ludwig and Rosalina, who gets more.

My thoughts while learning Inside Drift:
- Start drifting from the outer rim of a turn, and course-correct from there. This is completely opposite from karts and "outside drifting" bikes, which usually start drifting from the inner rim.
- If the bike over-corrects and reaches near the end of the road on the inner-rim especially on a long turn (e.g. some of Neo Bowser City's turns, or Yoshi's snout)... it's more beneficial to just take the smaller turbo/s, than risk plowing into the wall/grass or off the cliff on the inner rim.
- Karts/outside drifters will always be better at collecting coins in turns.
- It might be worth having a lower speed and better acceleration when learning inside drift. The lack of top speed will be made up in faster/tighter turns, making it easier to win with a lower speed bike than a lower speed kart.
- It is a pain to have low traction.
I used the Inkling boy like once, just to say I did, but I tend to stick the with the girl because she's adorable and makes the "woomy" noise when you go over jumps.
Reaction Image RepositoryAw, no! She's too cute to explode!
Seriously, the Inkling girl is one of the best-designed game mascots in ages. Not since Olimar had Nintendo created a character that immediately felt right at home alongside Mario, Link, and Donkey Kong.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Patch 1.1 patched out the Inkling Girl's Fistbump while holding the arm taunt, replacing it with just a fistbump as the motion is considered offensive in certain countries.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I mean, it makes sense. The middle finger doesn't mean anything in Japan, but that doesn't mean they ignore that when bringing something overseas (Unless you're Ace Attorney: Justice For All)
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."They didn't ignore it in the mobile/3DS up-ports.

I've played JFA multiple times on the DS release and I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe I've just blocked everything from my memory?
Also, it's not that it doesn't mean anything in Japan to my knowledge- at the very least, I feel that they're aware that it's a rude gesture in America- it's just that the gesture shown means something completely different there.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's a Bicep-Polishing Gesture. I know Kanji does it in Persona 4, as did Bowser in Super Mario RPG, but they changed it for the American release (he does a more generic strongman pose instead).
I mostly know the "up-yours" version from Spaceballs. It honestly wouldn't bother me if they'd left it alone.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?I honestly don't think anyone uses that gesture in the US anymore so they'd probably be fine just ignoring it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I think of that as the Rosie the Riveter pose, if anything. Never heard of it being an 'up yours' gesture before.
I'm just cycling through all the characters so I'll have 1 use of them, then I'll probably go back to my usual Ludwig and Rosalina.
Also, after all these years, I only learned how to drive the inside drifting sport bikes two days ago. It feels real good to learn something new and actually be decent at it in half an hour. (Thanks reddit!)
