Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

I knew about Iron Giant, but he did say more that three words in that. Not familiar with the character, so I had no idea he was a tree of few words.
I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot...

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI am Groot, and so's my wife!
I'm not much for self demonstrating character articles, but yeah, I'll agree, that one's pretty great.
Funny thing is that despite how prominent the character trait is, I'm pretty sure it's relatively recent addition to the character. I never read anything with Groot in it prior to Annihilation Conquest, but I know that in the Star-Lord mini series that tied into that comic, Groot didn't display his now signature talking trait at all. He actually talked pretty normally. But then come the new Guardians of the Galaxy series and he was all "I am Groot" 24/7.
I think it was supposed to be the result of a botched regeneration or something.
He's been talking like that for as long as I've known the character, but I've only been reading comics for less than a decade.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Regarding Iron Fist, actually, his chi powers didn't come from beating the dragon, or rather, not entirely. Kun Lun training already deals in chi powers, and without using the iron fist technique he's still a bullet-timing martial artist who can punch through a girder, and generally get into even matches with Spider-man. Beating the dragon just gives him a set of additional chi-based superpowers on top of the training derived ones.
Also, he's not the only guy to introduce mystic kung fu into the MCU. Daredevil is highly tied into the Chaste and the Hand via his backstory and rogues gallery, and more often than not gained much of his sensory powers through exotic training under Stick. While none of that is guaranteed, it seems a fair bet that at least some of that will carry over into the Netflix series.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comA bunch of Guardian figures, including, I believe, our first look at Ronan and Korath.
Looks like they ditched the concept of all Kree either being blue or white.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Korath figurine really looks like Jamie Foxx?
Sing the song of sixpence that goes burn the witch, we know where you liveIs Rocket Racoon going to share that show with Rocket Power and Team Rocket?
Yeah, and his nemesis will be the evil Chitauri Malamar, "the Squid".
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'd have thought his nemesis would be A'Lars.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Is it too early to start calling Rocket the breakout character of the movie? Because between what we've seen already and my gut feeling I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen if this thing follows in line with the success of the previous MCU movies.
Rocket is definitely the mascot. Which could either work out great or bite the film in the ass.
It's kind of weird that Guardians is the only superhero film being released this summer. Everyone seems to have decided that spring is the optimal time for superhero movies now (Winter Soldier in March; ASM 2 and DOFP in May) - like they wanted to avoid competing with each other but accidentally achieved the opposite result.
EDIT: Meant April, not March.

I thought Winter Soldier was July 4?
April 4. GOTG is August 1.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI thought it was April 4th.

Nope, April 4th. I have no idea why Marvel Studios isn't trying to capitalize on the 4th of July.
Can someone explain something to me, for I am confused and don't feel like looking it up myself: Rocket Raccoon, normal Earth raccoon that's been made sapient or alien that just happens to look like a raccoon?
Alien that happens to look like a raccoon. He actually curses people out for comparing him to an Earth raccoon.
