Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

It's obviously his last bean bun.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Ooh, Ronan's the villain. This might be nice.
I just had another idea for a sitcom: "ROOMIES WITH RONAN."
(Nova is sitting on the couch, watching TV.)
Ronan: "Rider! DID YOU EAT THE LAST PIECE OF CAKE THAT I WAS SAVING?!"
Nova: "Uh, no. I didn't even know there was cake. Calm down."
(Quill walks in, whistling jauntily.)
Ronan: "QUILL! Did you LEAVE THE TOILET SEAT UP?"
Quill: "Jeez, no! Why do you always assume one of us did it?"
Ronan: "IT IS IN MY TITLE QUILL THIS IS MY JOB."
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Ronan: "WHOEVER SMELLED IT DEALT IT!"
The interview question responses are great. I don't think the article writer gives enough credit to RDJ's response, though. Also, I note that Iron Man and Black Widow both are anvilicious on their poster poses.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy"You know, I think it's great that this person wrote about gender inequality in movie marketing, but I really don't think she focused enough on what the man had to say."

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies."You know, this troper linked to an article about gender inequality in movie marketing, but I'm going to portray one of his comments, the one that immediately follows equal praise, negatively. The one that was in response to an actor condemning those that would appreciate such a sexist question pairing as the one they got."
Because as we all know, men can't be feminists if they say something positive about a man. My bad.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOoh, this could get amusing.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I don't say much positive about RDJ in his relationship to the MCU, mainly because he's doing everything right, and it has already been said. However, I found it fitting to say that RDJ deserves more than zero notice for his response to those questions. I try not to applaud things that have already been pointed out (which, as the manga threads will attest, may make me seem negative). By that same measure, I didn't find it necessary to comment even further on the ladies' responses beyond what was already said and linking the post itself.
No need to Pass the Popcorn, I'm done responding.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI handled that poorly and I apologize. That said, I'm not sure what, if anything, needs to be said about RDJ's response; it's self-evidently a good one, but honestly it's not what that section the article is about.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Aww.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! As I just said, I tend to try to avoid reiterating evident things. The responses of the other two were handled well, so I linked to the article as a whole, commended it, and also gave credit to something that was missed.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWHO LIKES SUPERHEROES I DO WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT THAT STARTING NOW
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Will Captain America be commanded to wank in Winter Soldier?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! On the other hand, if you don't buy all of them, then Rocket is left without his best buddy. So if they're not going with Rocket as the build-a-figure characters, Groot's probably the next best choice.
Aren't the build-a-toys supposed to be the bigger figures?
Anyway, I am Groot.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Did any of you see this, which was made yesterday?
That's probably the best page on this site.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Nah, I didn't see it until now. It's kinda funny. Really didn't need Deadpool, though.
More jobs GOTG characters should not have: Korath the Pursuer shouldn't be a racer. He'd always aim for second place.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'm surprised how much of that page makes sense.

The best part about Groot in that Earth's Mightiest Heroes episode is his voice actor. Guy only gets one line, repeated three or four times, and each time you can infer the meaning of the line by his delivery. The last is especially good, where he's formally introduced to the Avengers and manages to make "I am Groot" sound like "I am honored to have met all of you."
He seriously just says that and only that? And they're paying Vin Diesel to do it?
Vin Diesel is actually rather good at working with limited dialogue. That's probably at least one reason why he was cast.
They're paying Vin Diesel because he's really good at conveying emotion and meaning based off of limited inflection and dialogue. We've been over this before, though you may not have been here.

The sad, REAL American dichotomy
I feel they might sell more toys overall if they made Rocket the build a toy piece, both due to his size and the likelihood that people would want him. However, he'd probably sell well the way they have it now, though I have doubts about how well some of the others would.
