I wouldn't call ripping off transformers creative or original, not that anything under the sun really is.
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere. It's not that they are out of ideas, it's that audiences expect a lot for their money. Most people aren't going to the theater for nuance. They need a cheap thrill, and brand recognition is a sure way to put asses in seats.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI was kidding. >.> Do I need to pothole sarcasm mode? Sheesh.
I, too, am looking forward to Liam saying "You sunk my battleship!" but the article I read stated that the board game movies were using the product names to sell themselves, while not actually restraining themselves to the ideas of the games. The fact that aliens are involved just points this up.
I remember seeing the trailer for this in the theater, and leaning over to my friend and saying: "They sunk my battleship!" jokingly.
I had no idea how right I was O.O
Don't you know?Just like the Thunder Cats & My Little Pony revival, this is likely thanks to Robot Chicken s parodies.
they had a Board Gamwes movies skit, w/ hungry hungry hippos & chutes in ladders
We're hungry, for justice!
Slaying all enemies in the Name of the Goddess of the Force!Ah, crap. I remember those. This is exactly that case, where the movies will use the brand names and a few flavor touches to remind you what they're supposed to be of, and then completely run off the rails.
There are no marines in Battleship, dangit. The human element is exactly "H4" in that game. As it should be.
What do you want to bet they crate a new edition of the game that includes some of the features of the movie? Like whatever it is they'll use to get back radar, and people fighting.

Hey, anyone else find the random Asian kid in the second trailer hilarious since that part just comes completely out of nowhere?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. So according to Game Informer, there's going to be a video game adaptation of this thing. It's not going to be based directly on the movie's plot, however.
Instead, it's going to be a first-person tactical shooter/strategy hybrid focusing on repelling the alien invasion.

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987They couldn't just make it a virtual version of the original board game?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. If they did that, then it'd be so overpriced that people would be better off buying the board game in comparison.

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Not to be picking nits too much but USS Missouri (BB-63) is the newest of the Iowas. (And last ever battleship ever built for the US Navy.)
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Or they could drop all pretense and make it a cheap cash-in
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Honestly, that's been their problem. It's being made by the guys who did the Green Lantern game.

That looks like it'll be a lot of fun.
Fight smart, not fair.I have no idea what to think about this. I really don't. I have no idea how you turn the Battleship game into a movie, much less how you convince someone to give you 200 million to do it. I just hope it comes out crazy awesome instead of stupid.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " Spirit"I have no idea how you turn the Battleship game into a movie, much less how you convince someone to give you 200 million to do it."
The power of imagination!
I mean, there's not really much to Battleship anyway; I take a shot at you, you take a shot at me, I move my sub a space to the left so I can pretend you didn't hit me...
Take it and expand from there.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimYou actually cheat at battleship? dude...
hashtagsarestupidCowboys and Aliens looked fun and then the movie was released. The same thing will happen with Battleship.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I also liked Cowboys and Aliens.
That said, I really do want to watch this. It looks so out of control ridiculous and stupid, that I think I'll love it. Is it going to be silly? Yes, but I like silly movies most of the time.
That trailer looked awesome. I couldn't believe that this is their idea for a Battleship movie.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyAt the least, this movie will be good to watch whilst playing a rousing game of Battle Shots.
People have said Hollywood's been running out of ideas for years.
I think this movie looks entertaining. It promises nothing more than to blow crap up, and as long as it does it in a creative way, which it appears to be here, it'll most definitely entertain me for its running time.
