"Aw, where'd a little girl like you learn such big words?" Kohaku laughed louder as she very roughly ruffled Jail's hair. "Little Spaghetti-chan is so smart~!"

Hisui tried to ignore her sister's actions, and instead stared off around the station. She had already realised that something was terribly odd about this world, but somehow she got the feeling that it went far further than she'd first realised.

The reploid-unwillingly-turned-human was broken out of her thoughts with a jolt by the unexpected arrival of a rather tall girl. Unfortunately, despite her best efforts she found her gaze being drawn to the pupil's missing arm. It wasn't out of any ghoulish curiousity or any desire to be rude - she genuinely had never seen someone who had lost a limb before. Trying her damndest to ignore the rather conspicuous injury, Grace tried to make eye contact with the newcomer. Hopefully, she wouldn't think that she was insensitive - that was the last thing she wanted in this case. 'She' needed all the help that she could get.

"Oh, uh... I'm new here, and I've... kind of got lost," she finished lamely. It was a rather terrible excuse (however legitimate it was), but she doubted that the tall schoolgirl would be particularly understanding if she subjected her to a barrage of terms that she wouldn't know. "I was trying to figure out how to get to school..."

Jack found her musings interuptted by a gentle knock at her door.

"Jun? Breakfast is ready." The sound of that voice caused Jack to go pale and sit down heavily on the bed.

"Jun?"

"Yes!" Jack answered, startled at how different her voice sounded, though it was still rather strained. "I'll be right there, thank you."

That was her mother. Looking around, her gaze fell on a family picture on the bedside table. She fought to keep from crying at the sight. Those were her parents, whom she'd never seen like that since she was a child. When she had returned from training, they had grown old and grey before their time. But the worst part was that they weren't real, just as this world wasn't real. Such cruelty was staggering. No...I must be strong. No matter what is done to me, no matter what I face, I am still Jack. I am still myself. Composing herself, she opened the door and followed the smell of warm food.

"Don't worry," her mother assured her, "you have enough time to make it if you hurry. Go on, eat. It won't do you any good to start your first day at school on an empty stomach."

Jack smiled weakly.

"No," she agreed. "It would not." For just a moment, she almost gave in to her sorrow. "Mother..."

"Yes?"

The silence seemed to stretch on forever before she shook her head.

"Never mind. I've forgotten it."

The rest of the conversation during the meal was mostly done by her mother. She was faintly glad she hadn't met her father. There was only so much she could handle at once. Before she knew it, she was walking out the door with a satchel of books under her arm. The city was different from both her own time and Aku's dark future, but she had grown used to seeing great cities. Where are the others? I must find them as soon as possible. She walked off, head held high, resolved to face whatever this new world and new day brought.

Metaluca soon arrived at the station, drastically different in appearance from her earlier incarnation, due to regaining her original eye and hair color.

She patiently waited for the train, not seeing the others due to her mind being preoccupied with a world where she had a genuine mother. Her blissful face would remind other people of an infatuated girl, a passive, joyous expression displayed by the Gunner. Closing her eyes, Metaluca replayed her inreractions many times in her mind, smiling from the pleasure most other people would call an aloof parent.

Kohaku laughed even harder. Even if Jail tried her best, there was no way he would win this confrontation. Kohaku had the advantage in size, strength, and a psychological block on the ability to feel pain.

"Aww, who's our little pwofesser? You are, Spaghetti-chaaan~!" Her laughter failed to cease as she took a strong grip of Jail and lifted her high into the air, twirling about with the pint-size scientist in hand. She then added, in a much quieter voice, "There's only room for one suspicious gold-eyed character on this team, silly~ So you get relegated to joke character, ufufu~"

Hisui noticed Gunner, and slowly made her way towards her. "Rosenkreutz-sama, is something... Amiss? This world is most strange..."

Oh man my uncle Ivan is the most awsome guy ever! Terrice thought to herself as she sat in the back seat of her uncle's car.

He was driving none other than a hot-pink convertable with blue flames and purple lightning bolts painted on the sides. Most people probably would have thought that this vehicle was kind of embarrassing but Terice had never been in a car before, she thought that it was something her uncle had invented himself. Had she been aware that most cars weren't so obnoxious she might have felt a bit differently. But she didn't know that.

Her chauffer for the day was a tall, smooth-faced blond fellow dressed in blue jeans and a green tunic. Complementing his outfit were a vest and belt filled to the brim with tools. It would be clear to anyone who looked at him that he was some kind of engineer.

Ivan slowed to a stop outside a very strange type of building that Terrice had never seen before. As she got out Ivan said to her: "Have fun at highschool Terrice! I'll pick you up at the end of the day."

"Thanks uncle Ivan. See you later!" Terrice said to her uncle as he gunned the engine ad drove away.

Terrice looked at the building before her with more than a bit of nervousness. Where were the other champions? Were they going through the same thing? Terrice walked to the entrance of the school and looked around for anyone who seemed familiar. Any of the other champions would be sure to recognize her if they had met before. No one else she had seen on her way here had such bright red hair.

"N-nano-chan..." Byakuren whimpered, burying her face in Nanoha's back. Why were there so many people here? What was the point of this place? And why was everyone so tightly pressed together? It was fairly obvious that the magician had no experience with the modern world, let alone a crowded train station as a young girl.

The tall girl's dark eyes bored into Gray's for a second before she smiled genially, lowering her bag a little and introducing herself, "I'm Asagami Chiko. We must be going to the same school... though the uniform's a clue, right? Follow me, I've been going to the campus since I was a young girl..."

This is a lead-in. I figure Scorpion should have a nightmare before he wakes up part of one.

Scorpion found himself in a place somewhere in Earthrealm. It looked like a Shaolin temple. He went ahead and entered and found monks about to attack him. He pulled out his spear and whipped it to the side, the kunai slicing open all of their throats. He knew, but blood didn't fly from their throats. But why?

He continued, punching and kicking his way through the monks that tried to stop him. He ascended the temple, still not sure why he was traveling through it, what he needed, or where this temple was. Eventually, he found his way to the top and looked around.

It was a room with wooden walls, a wooden ceiling, and a wooden floor. In the center stood, sealed up, a map that Scorpion knew all too well. His eyes widened in fear. This was the Map of Elements. He knew he was dreaming. If only he would awaken...

Suddenly, Sub-Zero jumped in from the opposite side of the room and froze Scorpion. A wave of terror washed over the hellspawn right as the ice did. Then, Sub-Zero ran up and roundhoused him in the face, sending the layer of ice shattering and Scorpion flying. The yellow-clad ninja hit the wall and struggled to his feet, but his nemesis kneed him in the stomach.

Scorpion fell to his knees, swaying slightly.

"Spare me..."

But Sub-Zero would not listen. The Lin Kuei warrior grabbed Scorpion by the throat and pulled once. Scorpion screamed silently, as one always screams in dreams. Sub-Zero pulled again, and Scorpion screamed again. Then, the Lin Kuei warrior pulled upwards again, and Scorpion...

...screamed for real this time, although this scream didn't sound normal. It sounded more like a young child's scream. Scorpion bolted up in bed, more out of shock than anything. Something felt wrong about him...

He looked in the mirror and saw he had become the splitting image of his wife when she was a child. He looked down, just to check his mind wasn't playing tricks on him, and sure enough, he had become a nine-year-old girl.

"Man," he she said, "This Is Gonna Suck!"

"Kana!" came a stern voice from outside his room. "Since when do you talk like that?"

In walked...no. It couldn't be.

"Father?" said Scorpion uncertainly.

"Yes," said the man, "Kana, I heard you."

Scor- no, wait, she had to remind herself her name wasn't Scorpion now- Kana looked around uncertainly.

"Words...say...talk?"

"Did you have a bad dream?"

"Y...Yes. I'll be fine, Dad. Where's Mom?"

"Mom had to go to work early remember? Now, come on, time to get dressed. It's the first day of school."

Kana got out of bed as her father left the room. She touched her face and realized she had become human. Whatever realm this was, Kana wasn't sure this would be a normal realm.

She walked out of the room wearing nothing but yellow, her dark hair in a bun. Her breakfast was strange, if only for the fact that she could actually eat food like she did when she was human. She grabbed her backpack and was about to step out of her house to walk to school when her dad called for her.

"Kana!"

"Yes, father?" said Kana, turning around to see her father approach.

"Have a good day at school. Don't get into too much trouble."

He kissed her on the forehead.

"I won't." Given her circumstances, trouble would probably find her.

She stepped out from her house and began looking for school. She spotted it down the street a couple of blocks away and went on her way over.

Gunner's eyes snapped open as she heard a nearby voice, her expression one of surprise. A few moments later, she realized it was Hisui who had asked a question.

Pausing to recollect her thoughts, Metaluca recomposed her face and loked at the other girl. "Indeed... I have met someone who was akin to someone I knew, though she is dead. I am not sure if this is an illusion or not..." She stated, looking around at all the sights. "But I am rather happy in a way..." Her expression softened.

Initially, Grace had thought that she had insulted the girl, and she was all too willing to apologise profusely for what she had done. Luckily, however, she seemed to be a lot more friendly than she had given her credit for. Smiling despite her inner turmoil, Grace nodded enthusiastically, a smile unintentionally spreading across her face. "Yeah, sure! Thanks a lot. My name is Grace, by the way. I hope we can be friends."

If everyone was like this, then perhaps she could get used to it... maybe. Despite the obvious physical differences, she rather reminded Grace of Aile. Both were rather kind and caring, and they never seemed to hesitate to help somebody out. For that, at least, she was grateful.

"Ah, I see," Hisui's look of concern slightly eased itself, but didn't disappear completely. Not only was she still confused by Shiki-sama and Akiha-sama being her parents, and Nee-san still wanting Shiki-sama in that way despite this, but she was now a little concerned that she might get paid a visit by "SHIKI-ojisan". "I suppose it would be right to be happy, if you got to see them again, even if it was just an illusion."

"Heh..." Kohaku smirked. "Is that so? I guess this counts as the gauntlet being cast, doesn't it, ufu~?" She placed Jail back on the ground and patted her head, as her wide smile returned. She raised her voice as she turned to Chun-Li. "Ahah, don't worry~ We were just playing, ufu~"

"What is this place? Why are there so many people here?" Byakuren whispered, glancing nervously over her shoulder. At least this was likely to remind people that they had a train to catch and standing around chatting on the platform all morning wouldn't help in the slightest... well, not with getting to school and that was what they were meant to be doing.

"So do I, I don't have many friends," Chiko replied, turning onto a road that separated a park and part of the school grounds, "Oh, and the high-school is the set of buildings on the right. You probably don't want to go to the others, not unless you have a reason to talk to people in Junior High or Elementary."
