Hey fellow Gleeks!

I am not at all fond of the website for The Glee Project (the hosting by Oxygen, that is) and am a little confused about the episode's update schedule... can someone help me out? I just took a three-week computer break (by force, of course) so I caught up on the episodes I missed, but I'm looking for episode 7 now. Parts of the website (photoarea, etc) are acting like ep7 has been released (talking about Cameron leaving and ep8's theme, etc), but I can't find ep7 online. What's up? D: Was it released and then taken down or what? Also, on what day do they upload new episodes?

Thanks in advance!

[up] The episodes air on Sunday and are on Hulu (and I'm assuming the Oxygen site) on Thursdays.

It's kind of a bitch for me because I don't have cable and now the episode was spoiled by my Tumblr dash.

Ohhhhhh, okay. All makes sense now.

(Yay, hulu! I didn't think to look there. Didn't show up when I googled, so...)

Thank you! I eagerly await this Thursday, then...

You can also find downloads for entire episodes, mp3 files from the songs, and extra clips on this Tumblr account: gleeprojectcast.tumblr.com

All the downloads are located on the account's download master post, which can be found in the side bar. Also, the admin of the account has stated that they will take down all the download links if they become available for purchase somewhere else, so get it while you can. smile

Wow, okay. I have a couple of issues with this newest episode, but first of all, bless Cameron's heart. Awwww. I expect "Cameron died for your sins" gifs to happen.

Anyways. Why do we keep seeing guys paired with Alex, but never Alex paired with a girl? I feel like he's intentionally being given an advantage in a number of ways, this being one of them, and if one or two of them were taken away he'd be right out. Gay people have played straight on Glee. It's just as important as a straight person being able to play gay. Is it because Alex is too flamboyant? He has his voice, but acting-wise he ought to be able to play flamboyant straight, cause it's not like that doesn't exist.

Also, are we being racist now, whoever picked those songs? Because when you give Danny Boy to the Irish kid, and you SPECIFICALLY STATE that it's due to his nationality, I mean... it's an awesome song, and I love to hear it, but geez. That's why I'm gonna forgive his bad attitude. And he was pretty good for how little emotion went into it anyway.

lol at whipped cream... "Don't worry, this isn't gonna make it on television!" And did Damien call them... "tats"? I love his reactions to anything of that sort.

As for the video, I found about none of it to be really real or sexy, except Lindsey and Damien. There's such thing as a sexy food fight and Lindsey and Cameron sort of were just sort of smearing things on each other in the least sensual way possible, which I found amusing and cute but not to the point, and Alex and Sam just looked weird- Sam, in fact, looked more into it than Alex, who looked to be playing a charicature. Lindsey and Damien were alright but I'm not sure what everyone was talking about, if it looked different in person or if I'm just crazy, but Lindsey spent most of the shoot standing there with Damien around her, not doing much and without much of anything going on with her face or body.

[up] I have to agree.Who selects these songs? Because seriously, the homework challenge was not good to anyone except Alex.

This was my mom's first experience with the glee project, and I get the feeling that she didn't like the performance. Neither did I for that matter.

  • Alex seemed to redeem himself a bit this week. Not only did we not see any diva shenanigans, but he mentioned concern about not pushing boundaries with Sam. I don't know why he was in the bottom 3.
  • Sam was okay this week.
  • Lindsay. I just wanted to punch her. I don't know why,it wasn't as bad as pairability, but she's the I'm Not Here to Make Friends type of contestant, which bugs me.
  • Hannah was kind of The Woobie this week, although her vocal performance wasn't extraordinary. It was very breathy. I also admire how respectful she was of Cameron's boundaries.
  • Cameron did pretty well. He sounded good, and even though he didn't kiss Hannah in the video, he followed directions pretty well. Ryan's big speech about the fact that he's uncomfortable kissing made me really doubt Ryan's writing and producing abilities. I understand his reason for quitting. The glee project didn't really seem to suit him.
  • Damian. Basically his main problem was his bottom 3 performance, but I'll chalk that up to horrible song selection.
  • The thing with the whipped cream= Big-Lipped Alligator Moment. Forever.

I share Murphy's feelings about Cameron. It's when he's doing what he did that you start wanting him to not do it.

Anyway, I have to agree I was really disappointed with the music video. On the note of Alex always being paired with a guy - in this case, I think they just needed it for the voice match-ups they chose (because they linked all the high-singing girls + Alex together, and grouped the rest of the lower-singing guys), but yeah, I want to see him have to be with a girl. More than anything, though, I think the editing was just poor. The quality of the lighting, shots and streaming all seemed pretty lq... I know there's the mysterious steamy side of video editing, but it was just frankly hard to tell what was going on, which is bad when you're supposed to be judging people's acting abilities. Furthermore, the switching between whose voice was singing was really jarring, especially at the beginning. I dunno, the whole thing seemed very amateurish.

And it's now that I confess I love Sam, but I agree he was lackluster this week. Did a good job, but wasn't really eyecatching.

Anyway, we know it was a guy who won the Glee Project in the end, right? So that leaves us with three possibilities... and I guess next week all the girls will be eliminated, plus one dude.

I just hope Alex doesn't win. DX He's gotten on my nerves more and more throughout the show, consistently being overtly flamboyant, redundant and self-centered.

[up] I haven't seen any spoilers on the subject, but from the very first episode I also suspected that a male contestant would win. Mainly because of the situation on Glee proper.

To elaborate: Murphy has a huge cast, but amongst the teen characters the girls seem to have a harder time getting screen time or solos (just look at Mercedes (um...went diva for a day?), Tina (dates Other Asian, nothing else), and Sunshine (reduced to three episodes) compared to new male characters Sam (dates half the female cast) and Blaine (about one solo per episode)). If a new character from the Project has to be added for a 6-7 episode run, a girl would make it worse for the already reduced roles of the other girls.

...I might have thought about this too much.tongue

If you were Ryan Murphy, which roles would you cast these Glee Project guys into? (Personally, I'd throw Samuel in there as a prematurely washed up rock star figuring he can't get any lower on the food chain. And besides, he'd need somewhere to sing.)

[up] I think...

  • Damian: The Irish foreign exchange student who is stalked by Rachel and joins the football team after being rejected for the cheerios.
  • Alex: Mercedes' closeted boyfriend (just because of what Ryan Murphy said about Mercedes getting a new love interest and Rule of Funny).
  • Hannah: The Genki Girl who joins glee so that she can have something to do with her spare time and ends up becoming a part of the nakama.
  • Lindsay: Rachel's rival who joins the cheerios and the glee club so that she can have more time onstage.
  • Samuel: Yeah, I don't know what to say about him.

So, I have a question: should The Glee Project have its own page, have the examples on the glee page, or should it be a glee subpage?

[up][up] I read an interview somewhere with Dot Marie Jones saying that she would love for Damian to play an exchange student staying with Coach Bieste. I could easily see that happening.

If Lindsay made the show, I think they should make her a childhood rival of Rachel's. IIRC, Rachel said she had been in tons of singing competitions and lost them all, so she had to lose to someone.

Sam...Santana's next beard and Puck's rival. Wait, wasn't there already a Sam who did that? tongue

Alex making the show would worry me, mainly because I see him as a combination of Kurt, Mercedes, and Rachel, making him redundant. If he played a gay character, then there's the potential for a love triangle with Kurt and Blaine, but if he plays straight maybe he could be a Wholesome Crossdresser.

Hannah could be awesome as long as they don't resort to making jokes about her size (like with Lauren and Mercedes). Instead, make fun of her for being a ginger! No, I could see her being the "average" student thrown into the crazy and reacting to it.

[up] Lauren could quit the AV Club and Hannah could take over, making it totally different! That would be cool.

[up][up][up] Considering it's in talks to get a second season, I reckon we should acknowledge it.

[up][up] I agree! The club needs an official Only Sane Man.

Well, that was an unpleasant surprise. I'm starting to think that Homework winners are doomed to go home. And I really wanted Lindsay to go home instead of Hannah.

Although I like to believe that there is a spark of honesty in what Lindsay said tonight, I couldn't help but think that every smile of hers was fake. Full disclosure: I haven't like her since the first or second episode when she flat-out said she was the best singer in the competition.

I'm having the same problem now with Samuel. To quote Zoolander, "One look!"

I did think that this episode had the best music video of the whole show. It was very well done.

Naw, I liked Hannah! No, they weren't the strongest singer but they were so genuine and likeable. They're the first contender I'll miss. Now as for Lindsay, grrrr. Edited or not, she's not that nice and far too competitive. I'm sure in real life she's a lovely lady but for now, God I hate her.

I was quite pleased that she was at least called out for being fake, this time around. Maybe that will help her improve in the future.

She's basically spent the competition trying to piggyback on others' actually genuine moments.

Unfortunately, all of the contestants I was emotionally invested in are gone now, so I may struggle to find the drive to watch the remaining episodes.

I'm still rooting for Damian. I think that Lindsay should have gone home. Hannah's last chance performance was a little flat, but that's nothing you can't fix in the studio. Lindsay's last chance performance lacked genuine emotion, which is a running problem for her. Her Freudian Excuse is weak at best, and the part of me that was rooting for her is gone.

Awww, why? Hannah might have been the weaker (if not weakest) singer of the group, but why should that matter when they're not bad and you refuse to let anyone hear the performer's actual voice on the show anyway? They're clearly a better actress than Lindsey, who has the same patent artificialness about her in her acting as in her real life. I feel like I can't trust a word she says and I really dislike her for that. Beyond that, her performance was almost totally emotionless. To be honest, I expected her to be the one to go home, by a longshot.

Also of note, Alex gets to play gay again; everyone else is playing straight at the moment but both the boys have had to play gay with Alex and Alex is yet to play straight. K. Thumbs up for future not-crazy, not-flat Christian character though.

So from now on the way I'm hanging on to this show is Damien.

[up] Same here.

It really annoys me the way Ryan Murphy talks about writing a "Christian" character. Santana's probably Catholic, Quinn, Sam, and probably Finn are all protestant from what we know. What he means is a religious Christian character, because there is a difference. There are several Christians who are Christian In Name Only and only identify as Christian because they grew up this way.

Still headache inducing. Quinn has "true faith" as a defining characteristic. She doesnt hit people over the head with it - probably because she actually takes matthew 6: 5 seriously, but the lady went through the teen pregnancy from hell, and came out on the other side being all "my faith helped me through it" rather than "there is no god". If that isnt being a Christian, what the heck is?

There's also Mercedes, who took Kurt to church with her.

But I'm going along with the assumption that Ryan means "Christian in practice", and thus not doing things like cheating on boyfriends and getting pregnant (in the case of Quinn.)

Well, Samuel and Damien are still there, so I'm still watching, but I don't like it. Those two would be the only two "new" types, if Ryan Murphy is basically writing them as they are in Real Life. However, judging by past episodes, I reckon Alex is going to win, simply because of favouritism. (Which I VERY much hope is wrong.)
