About 15 years ago. But I checked, the only difference between the plaza when I saw it and when Kennedy was killed is the size of the trees.

The skull popped from the bullet passing through the man's brain pan. That is a damn big bullet traveling very fast through his head. If I recall that one actually fragmented. Likely it struck the skull popping that part out and the damaged/fragmented bullet exited out the front of his head.

There was some controversy over what the government did with Kennedy's brain. It supposedly disappeared.

Then again, I read this in a book which also purported that Qadaffi is Not Evil, Just Misunderstood.

A portin of his brain would have been converted into so much mush and mist. Hence the large spray of blood on the camera shots and all over the place.

I don't think this is actually related to the death of JFK, but for those of you keeping track of the conspiracy theories, well, there's this (starting with background):

There was an actual conspiracy by NATO called ''Operation Gladio''. NATO had underground networks in pretty much every European non-Warsaw Pact country, using all kinds of methods, from assassinations and kidnapping politicians to bombing train stations and framing the Left, to keep Socialist parties from winning elections. The operation ran from the late 1940s to the early 1990s, though it's not impossible that it's still going on.

I won't go any further on that because I've already discussed Gladio in so many threads.

But anyway, the (so far) only thorough review of the research that European countries carried out in the 1990s regarding Gladio was done by Daniele Ganser, a Swiss historian and, according to Wikipedia, "as of 2010, ... a Senior Researcher at the Center for Security Studies at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich", who wrote NATO's Secret Armies: Operation Gladio and Terrorism in Western Europe. In it, he says that when Kennedy became President and was eventually told of Gladio, he wanted to end the program. When he told then-head of CIA, Allen Dulles, that he's going to shut down Gladio, Dulles said "you don't have the authority," or something to that effect.

This, of course, is based on interviews with people who claim to have witnessed the event, so the reality of this discussion is not verifiable. But it's probably kept some people who believe the CIA killed JFK awake at night.

I'd say the conspiracy theories exist for the same reason they exist about lots of other major events. To some people, its far more comforting to think things like this are planned out in advance, because thats far less terrifying than the notion that life really can be cut short for almost no goddamned reason and with zero explanation.

Its the same reason people assume "it was gods plan" or "the haitians meddled with the devil, therefore typhoon"

The other three assassinated presidents don't get nearly as crazy theories, and considering those three were in a row (1860 elected,1880 elected,1900 elected),you'd think there'd be more.

Okay Lincoln has some, but the other two,...forget it.

I'm not sure what conspiracy my parents buy into; I think it's that Kennedy made too big an enemy of organized crime, and they put Oswald up to it? ?

I heard an interesting theory concerning the conspiracy theories.

The most popular theory for who supposedly killed Kennedy (or who hired Oswald to do it) is whoever are essentially the Big Bad at the time:

  • 1960's: It was the Cold War and The Cuban Missile Crisis was still fresh in our minds, so it was the Soviets or Cubans.
  • 1970's: Vietnam and Watergate lead to a growing distrust of the government, so it was the government's doing.
  • 1980's: The drug cartels caused organized crime to become a big deal again, so now it was the mob.

The CIA may have had something to so with the association. The commitee set up to investigate apparently didn't look deeply enough into the matter, and so it seems well never know for sure. I wouldn't put it last them

All those fail CIA assassination attempts must of made him stronger.tongue

Which also rises questions on how they any to pull off killing JFK and not get caught if they couldn't rub him.

Please could the CIA couldn't organise a riot in Beirut.tongue

One plausible conspiracy theory I heard was that Lee Harvey Oswald only wounded Kennedy and that and that a incompetent member of staff still pissed from the night before shot Kennedy in the panicked confusion. This accounts for the second gun man and magic bullet theory.

Personally however I just believe Lee Harvey Oswald was a good shot.

Gotta feel bad for LBJ. One of the more popular theories (thanks to the Oliver Stone movie) is that Johnson killed him. Probably, Johnson knew he'd be viewed as a usurper from the start. He tried to persevere by ending poverty and segregation, hoping his legacy would escape Kennedy. I wonder if he would have done those things without the unrelenting hatred coming his way every day.

Although, with the civil rights thing, all he did was make himself doubly devilish.
