[up][up][up][up]People value continuity. If the 02 cast had been written out in a way that clearly explains why nobody cares that they're missing, most people wouldn't be talking about it. It would only take a few lines. For example (entirely hypothetical scenario ahead; contains no Confession spoilers):

"Hey, Kari, have you told Davis about the infected Digimon?"

"Yes. He's been hard to contact ever since he and his family moved to America, but I left him a message and he sent an email back. Same with Cody in Brazil, Yolei in Australia, and Ken in Germany."

"It's too bad that all of them moved away at such a critical time."

"Yeah. Something feels off about that, but... No, I'm probably overthinking it."

I understand that the focus of this story is meant to be on the original eight. I like 02, but I don't mind that the 02 kids are not presently in the story. What makes it aggravating is the huge plot hole sitting right there that the writers are doing a pisspoor job of filling up.

... The hilarious thing is 02 is one of the less contiunity worried seasons with it basically cherry picking/retcon itself multiple times

Yeah people nowadays are REALLY anal about internal continuity.

The 02 ending is hated for its stock Japanese style happy ending where everybody has a good job, kids and there is basically peace forever more.

It effectively killed the Adventure setting of the franchise hence the move to the new tamers verse, which started the New Season New verse it wasn't till Young Hunters that got a direct continuation.

I don't see how it killed it. Firstly, doesn't T.K say there are still threats out there that need to be vanquished? Daemon could have been revived as a villain. We could have gotten the Demon Lords or whatever. The Tamers protagonists could easily have fit into the Adventure world as kids who got their own Digimon if you didn't want to focus on the Adventure/02's kids to avoid Generation Xerox. Hell, Hypnos as an organization tasked with dealing with hostile Digimon in face of the two worlds having full knowledge of each other could work. Or make it more like DATS from Savers.

There really was nothing stopping them from continuing the Adventure story at all. Not that I hated Tamers at all. In fact, I actually found I liked it a lot upon my first viewing and like it even more each time I re-watch it.

Yeah, if anything, the epilogue opens new threads for more seasons.

Instead, we're probably gonna go Rebellion Story and retcon the epilogue just because Sora went "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmaaaaatt!"

Seeing the poster for the next movie Loss I spotted another person though it's blurry. People think that person is Daisuke.

Honestly while Tri is nice and I'm enjoying it it's not the ideal sequel to 02 I wanted. While Tamers was good I always wanted a sequel to 02 that focused on the children of the Adventure/02 cast.

Plus don't forget there would be plenty of digimon who wouldn't mind trying to corrupt there digidestined to become more powerful.

Tri doesn't exactly take place over a large period of time. Confession starts a day after Determination, which started shortly after Reunion, judging by Mimi was still adjusting to being back in Japan, Hikari was reassuring Taichi that the battles were the right thing to do and Yamato confronting Taichi about Omegamon splitting apart.

The 02 kids not responding to messages for a few days isn't cause for worry, especialy if we assume they've moved away, which explains why the Adventure kids aren't worrying about not seeing them in school or at home.

[up]Reunion by itself spanned a little over a week (I've forgotten the specifics, but I do remeber them mentioning two separate weekends passing over the course of those episodes). I'd imagine that at least another week had to pass in Determination, since a school festival isn't something you start planning for with only a few days left.

Confession implies that relocation was not a part of the cover story, since Matt apparently tried knocking on Ken's door.

That said, I don't think we'll get a deeper explanation for why the eight didn't notice their friends' disappearance beyond the "cover up" handwave in Confession. We're just meant to believe that the Bureau did had a brilliant, undisclosed strategy to ensure nobody noticed the disappearance, and that's that. At risk of sounding like a character from a game I've been playing far too much lately, with regard to that particular plot thread, it's time to let it go, and move on.

[up] Not to mention that Maki then brings up Ken's D-3 and Terminal and no one bothers to mention how she has what is basically one of the only five Digivices, with two of those five being in the hands of two people who were just looking for him.

I find it very funny that the writers are going above and beyond writing out the 02 kids, then proceed to include plot elements from 02 without ever thinking "wait a minute..."

It was a really fun watch, though. I wonder if Himekawa was one of the Agents like Gennai, or, so many other things. But seriously, see video above.

I kind of like the theory that Maki is one of the original Digidestined from before the ones we know went to the Digital World that these post have brought up.

[up] I know. That's why it's funny]. [lol]

Though Gennai being the villain just reeks of Ron the Death Eater. It's like making Dumbledore or Celestia the villain. Something that seems that only fanfiction does... Then again, considering the track record Tri has...

[up]02 had multiple Gennaifolk. I figure the fake Ken is a rogue Gennai clone, not the Gennai.

A lot of the OOC stuff could be explained as a Fake Memories plot or something. Maybe. If they think Maki having Ken's D3 isn't strange there must be some reason! That or Homeostasis has gone slightly mad.

I sort of dropped Digimon around the Etemon/Eighth Child arc, so this Homeostasis thing escapes me.

Honestly, the few times I think Homeostasis has been named has been in the mangas, and it's usually as a component to Yggdrasil.

It was the entity that possessed Kari in the Dark Masters arc that was only named in a novel adaptation. It also played a minor role in the Xros Wars manga as a god that maintained balance, replacing Yggdrasil after it went berserk.

First time I heard of it, I thought it was something they mentioned in some novel they made long ago that only hardcore Digimon fans would talk about.
