This is sure to be and exciting an original new FPS game.

Dumbolooks like a fps trying to be mass effect terminator and deus ex
This level of trolling is reasonable for Commander Obvious. What do you think of this, everyone?...See, I came into this topic thinking about resetting hardware and software (a "Hard Reset").
Also, did the composer for that trailer music crib notes from Command And Conquer 3?
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelFor those not in the know, this is from a new studio formed by People Can Fly (Painkiller, Bulletstorm) employees. Haven't played either yet, but this has to be a blast.

Vets of CD Projekt (The Witcher and The Witcher 2) are part of it, as well.
occono stole my line. :<
That teaser trailer was remarkably unexciting.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."The studio that's making this has also members of City Interactive, makers of an incredible number of bland First Person Shooters...
I really don't see the excitement right now. Some PC fanboys were fawning over it just because it is an exclusive but I don't see the reason, especially when it's from such an oversaturated genre. Also, the release on the trail of Deus Ex seems a risky marketing ploy: will it be noticed thanks to the release of the latter, as another interesting cyberpunk game? Or will this FPS coming from nowhere be overshadowed by it?
I hope they'll show some more and that the game will be good. Until then, it has very little to show, and very much to prove.
PC gamer preview
-Saw a screenshot with a numerical health and armour system.
-Realised that with a UI like that health must be static and not magically regenerating
-Interest shot up 500%.
Now I wonder what the weapon limit will be.

@Gendo: From what I understand, this game is more Blade Runner than Deus Ex. Of the Robot Apocalypse variety.

Jonah FalconIt's actually turning out to be quite interesting, gameplay involves a more Doom style maps instead of pipe shooters which sounds pretty sweet. I laughed at how gamespot highlights that the health doesn't regen...what have fpses become that this is now considered a feature?

Also E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy is coming out these days... It's another indie cyberpunk FPS/RPG that looks very interesting, however I'm still wondering why these game "have" to be released in the wake of Human Revolution. It's like their authors are not confident enough that they can stand on their own.
Hard Reset isn't an FPS/RPG hybrid though from what I gathered. Certainly, not to the extent of EYE or DXHR. It's got more in common with Doom than Deus Ex.
Any indication of game speed? Weapons carried? Enemy variety? Level design?
I'm not sure the name is the best choice though, consoles and handhelds are (hard or soft) "reset", P Cs are "reboot". Could just be my experiences though.
Movement speed and general combat looks pretty fast paced judging from the gameplay trailer, esp compared to other FP Ses that are out now.
No idea about weapon limit, enemy variety or map sizes although the devs did mention something about how the maps would be much bigger than modern shooters and more of the "Red key" type stuff and hidden easter eggs that Doom and DN 3 D had- we'll have to see how much of that is actually true, it was difficult to tell how big the maps were from the screens and trailer.
Despite the initially bland teaser the current news actually looks pretty good.

Wait a tick
No multiplayer?
I don't really care for competitive MP in shooters, but... if you are trying to emulate old-school FP Ses, why no co-op?
Wait, so this is going to be a PC exclusive? Does that mean they're going to take advantage of that (mods, ridiculously hi-res textures, complex controls, etc.), or am I hoping for too much here? Because from the looks of it right now, it seems rather bland.
From a Gamereactor Preview (in danish). It can be gathered that the game only has two weapons, an energy weapon and a rifle, both can be upgraded and modified to fit a large variety of roles. Which can be scrolled through.
Sounds cool.

That may mean that all weapons will share a common ammo/energy reserve, so you can't spam the heavy hitting forms without drying everything else up. That's a nice twist even over the Doom-style classic FP Ses. Sure I've seen it somewhere else before but it's still nifty.
I was initially curious about the game because fuck yeah, old-school FPS but this preview by a PC FPS elitist french* website doesn't make it seem too hot.
The main points of the contention of the guy are that:
1: The weapons are too weak while most of the enemies are total damage sponge.
2: It's hard to tell in which "mode" your two weapons are.
3: There's no lightning and you're often blinded by the enemies's explosions.
4: Your character is too slow.
5: The rooms are small and cramped.
Of course the guy could have gotten acrappy batch of levels, but still.
The demo has been released on Steam.
Some thoughts and information:
- The main menu is very interesting to watch at first, but the transitions between menus take too long.
- A benchmarking tool is in this game, and is quite useful in seeing how one's computer fares with this game.
- Armor regenerates after a while, health does not. Ammo seems to regenerate to 50 for both types, which is helpful in preventing unwinnable situations due to having no ammo.
- It does not feel very much like a modern FPS to me, feeling more like Doom or Quake.
- It's difficult to identify what form your gun is in at a glance, as some forms have barely any differences from the default. There is a text identifier in the lower left, and the crosshair changes, but I feel like it would be better if the gun transformations were more different.
- The game UI feels like it could have been arranged so parts of it could be in different areas of the screen. As it is, potentially critical information, such as the sprint meter and weapon name, are too small or look more like decoration than anything else.
- I did not notice a quick-save feature, though it may have been there and I just wasn't paying attention.
- The large enemies I saw in the demo seemed to be able to hit me even if I sprinted out of their way, though it did not appear to do much damage in that case.
The demo has definitely made me more interested in the game, but I'm not too sure if I will get the game on release.

I don't have too much to say.I played the demo, and I rather liked it. I think I'll be pre-ordering it tomorrow.
In case you're wondering, there are indeed only two guns in the game: A gun that shoots bullets, and a gun that shoots energy. They both have separate ammo counts, but the ammo is shared among all five of a gun's modes. Ammo is common.
There are 5 modes per gun, with a secondary function per mode. Only the basic mode for both guns is unlocked at the start, and you have to collect enough "NANO" to earn a upgrade point that you can use to unlock new features of the guns at a terminal. It appears to be one upgrade point per upgrade, and the points aren't too hard to come by. You can also get some upgrades for your "combat suit", which appear to be stuff that affects the interface or simply isn't directly tied to firing the guns.
The environments are semi-destructible; you can destroy them, but only in predefined locations and ways (from the demo, it appears to be blowing up walls and doors).
More than that, and we'll have to wait for the full game, since otherwise, it's fairly standard FPS fare (although one of the combat suit upgrades mentions regenerating health, so that might actually be in the game...).
