I gotta admit the tongue stuff is pretty bad for me. Or people being pulled apart. Those two bug me.

I enjoyed the film...until the climax. It felt like an Ass Pull to ensure that the film had the stereotypical female hero. She gets brought back, seriously?

Though, I am a bit intoxicated right now.

[up] No, no, it really was kind of bizarre. And kind of sucked some of the terror out of the situation, truth be told.

Oh, and does anyone know if there was anything after the credits?

Did the Charleston play over the credits?

Y'know, I kinda figured there was gonna be something after the credits, but I left anyways. Reading what it's supposedly was, I don't really feel like I missed anything.

By the way, was Mia sitting on the oldsmobile when we first see her in the film?

[up]I do believe that it is indeed the Oldsmobile that is featured in nearly every Raimi film.

[up][up][up] I wish.

I did like that they kept the buzzing sound at the end of the credits.

Prowler: the reason I have issue with dental horror stuff is because I've had a lot of dental issues so I pretty vividly remember the pain involved. Get 25 teeth pulled and seeing tooth extraction in movies becomes kinda a sore spot.

Anyway gonna see this movie this weekend; gonna see it with a girl I met recently. She likes ultra gory movies.

I'm not gonna lie- I have never laughed this hard at any movie. The entire theater I was in cracked up the whole way through. It was just... that was the first time I've ever had a So Bad, It's Good reaction to anything. Damn.

Kinda disappointed, though, it was pretty bad.

[up][up] I guess some of the situations were so exaggerated that they were funny, but, shrug.

Greg, that is... actually a really good point. Hell, I might even give it two thumbs up, that fact taken into consideration. evil grin

I kind of agree with Kentok. I liked that David/Ash was able to save Cheryl/Mia, but the Stupid Sacrifice kind of pissed me off. I wanted them to be like Sam and Dean; hunting Deadites, saving people in the sequels. Now, they might bring David back, since if I'm not mistaken he doesn't die onscreen and his coming back to life might explain why the Abomination was less powerful than we thought, not to mention it would make for an interesting ED 2 if he survived and was given Mia's original fate, setting things up for Mia to try and exorcise him, returning the favor he did her TWICE in this one, and avoiding the clichèd Too Dumb to Live moment of people reading the obviously cursed book. The finale made me actually wonder if they stopped the movie and changed it with a cheap ED knockoff.

I also found this movie a bit too mockable. Hell, it has all the bad parts that The Cabin In The Woods mocked last year (when Eric read the book I actually said 'You do NOT read the latin!'). At least Mia isn't The Virgin.

The biggest disappointment, though, was the fact that apart from Mia and David we were never teased that the others could be the lead. In the original they'd set a character as the lead, only for them to get possessed and/or die, one after the other. It wasn't until only the two boys were left that Ash was estabilished as the lead. This one... well... didn't.

[up]I thought they didn't really do THAT until Scottie became a Deadite.

[up] Strange, because I felt that Ash became a more important character than Scotty, who I had to rewatch the movie to see how he died, before that. The movie just seems to concentrate more on him. Probably the scene that estabilished it for me was when we have to see Ash cut down Linda's body.

[up]For most of the movie until only he's left, Ash is still in wimp mode. It's not until he's all that left that he starts to man up.

[up] Now I get it. I was referring to the point where you realize he's the lead character.

Now, back on track... I felt that the changes the remake/sidequel tried to do were pretty sloppy, especially the female survivor and the Decoy Protagonist trick, which for me didn't work because the switch happened way too late in the film, but also the drug metaphor, which was there to avoid the clichèd 'she must be nuts' response from the original... and nothing else.

[up] It also gives them a reason to not leave the cabin when she starts begging to. Because they know how she acts when she's detoxing, and freaking out is among the symptoms.

[up] That's what I said. It replaces the 'she's just freaking out' excuse for them not to leave (not that they would be able to if they wanted to).

Well I just got done watching it and well...

It wasn't bad, heck I'd call it the best horror remake in recent memory, but I don't know. It just seems like it could have been better. I didn't get attached to any of the main characters, but the gore was great.

I hate to necro a old thread but this movie was far better than the original. It is by far my favorite horror movie. Horror movies don't scare me but I know if a horror movie would scare someone who is scared of them (have a friend who is) I felt bad because I made him watch it and he was terrified... but when I saw it in theatres it kept me on the edge of my seat.. and the ending was phenomenal. It put the original to shame.
