Which Emiya? Cause I meant Archer Emiya.
I hate him so much
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI too hate fake geek archers that primarily fight with swords.
Doesn't Uryu also have the Seele Schneiders?
Well, those are actually Arrows, and not swords, but still.
Hard to tell with this one.
One Strip! One Strip!Let's be friends based on mutual hate
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDo you for real hate him, or are you mostly just joking around?
Also, do you hate him for valid reason, or is it the usual I hate his fans, so now FUCK THIS GUY Stuff that I often here.
One Strip! One Strip! When summoned as an Archer, EMIYA is actually a weak Servant due to having been summoned from one possible future. His stats are average to below-average, with only his Mana being anything worth sneezing at. While this means EMIYA is still stronger, faster, and more durable than any normal human, Ishida Uryuu is not a normal human.
As a Quincy, Ishida is capable of absorbing and manipulating ambient spiritual energy and spiritual matter in order to perform his signature techniques. Foremost among them is manifesting a Heilig Bogen — a bow made of spirit energy — and firing arrows of spirit energy called Heilig Pfeil. Ishida is a master archer capable of firing arrows with pinpoint accuracy, can rain down thousands of Heilig Pfeil at once with his Licht Reign technique, and he can also at least somewhat control the arrows' trajectory. He is also moderately skilled with swordsmanship, wielding a Seele Schneider — an arrow that is essentially an energy chainsaw — as a sword. Ishida's Schrift, the Antithesis, allows him to transfer any damage he sustains over the course of a fight to his opponent.

Most of the problems I have with UBW are from his character arc and the degree of prominence and importance it is given
I also hate his younger self for what it's worth

Forever liveblogging the Avengerswhy tho
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeHe is peak annoying shonen
Forever liveblogging the Avengersi don't exactly see how, or why, but each to their own i suppose
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI though the hate toward Shirou had long since died down.
Plus, what about the butt load of character development he gets in both UBW, and more importantly, in Heaven's Feel where he takes a very un-shonen hero like course of action...I guess.
One Strip! One Strip!Haven't seen Heaven's Feel.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI know next to nothing about Fate and have no pressing desire too, but I am aware of Emiya' sreputation for being preachy. That sort of them sticks with people longer than you think.
Plus there's the large group of people who unfavorably compare him to Homura Akemi dear old dad. I'm fine with Shirou, but Kiritsugu is definitely a better character.

Thats probably also another thing.
It is tonal and writing whiplash to go from Zero to UBW. Barely feels like the same universe at times.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOh.
I actually did see the visual novels first before seeing Zero.
I will say that Shirou does succeed in some ways where his dad failed.
Well, except for one thing.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't see what you mean at all? UBW just ended on a happier note? Throughout both stories there's themes of powerlessness and gray morality behind what some of the characters were doing and behind their beliefs.
The only real difference is that UBW ends happier because it's not a story of destined failure (in fact it's meant to be the opposite- a story about overcoming a destined failure).

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThe tone is completely different. In all sorts of little ways. Several of the masters come from the same high school and overall it feels like the cast skews younger. There is a much higher reluctance to kill and a greater willingness to cooperate. The morality on the protagonist's side is a lot less gray than in Zero. The universe is a lot more obliging to reckless gung ho heroics than Zero felt. Just a bunch of little elements that make the tone feel lighter, more action adventure.
They may have similar themes but they created a different atmosphere.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI suppose, but at the same time they had different purposes and I don't see the tone difference as a detrimental quality- quite the opposite in fact. The futility found in Zero greatly strengthens the capability and other positive themes in UBW.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeOne big distinction is that compared to previous times if I am not mistaken there is supposed to be a lot more time between grail wars. It is hard to compare tone when Fate Zero is an example of a normal grail war and the events shown in all of the fate stay routes are a grail war that is a complete mess.
In fate zero the main irregular events are caster and a bit if rule bending by Rin's father.
In the other there are lot of broken rules and no one really doing anything to keep people following the established rules. Along with many irregularities.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaOne thing that does annoy me in UBW is how everybody beats the crap out of Saber. Dunno if it's the same in other routes, but damn, she gets destroyed by every other Servant and like half the Masters(even though a Master fighting a Servant directly had been frequently stated as an outright suicidal act).
Like, Caster's Master isn't even a mage. He's just a dude who knows a bit of karate and still he ends up handing Saber her ass with zero effort.
That's grossly underestimating Kuzuki. He's using a very specific assassination art that is explictly said to only work once if your target survives. Combined with Caster's enhancement - effectively a Magus from the Age of Gods, and Older Is Better in Nasuverse in 95% of cases - it is good enough for him to have a shot.
Plus, in the anime adaptation of UBW, I believe Saber had a much better record of fighting Berserker, and she gets to curbstomp Assassin in passing later. Really, Saber getting the crap kicked out of her is standard fare in all routes and Zero.
How do lizards fly?
He wins sometimes he just tends to lose immediately afterward.
