Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

And Lord knows what happens the last time a white guy was President.
Actually this was the last time we let a businessman become president.
I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse.

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016No, it just adds to the pattern that businessmen running the country leads to depressions.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickPersonally I'm a fan of our experiences with Five Star Generals.
<><I would say worse since he's also responsible for the largest debt in our history and two long and costly wars. He also made a lot of people hate us.

this actually makes sense when you realize that depressions are the best time to reinvest in capital that allows you to hire less workers to make more product/profit.

I'm all for another traitor to his class as president, but those types of politicians no longer exist.
I'm voting for Jill Stein, by the way. How about you?
In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl. Not sure who you're directing that at, but I'm voting Obama. Not even for strategic voting either (though that's definitely a part of it). I just think he deserves a chance to see this through to the end.
And, since one of our political parties has the express goal of making him a one-term president, I want to do the opposite just to screw them over. But that's a very minor part.
I can't vote (underage), but if I could I'd vote Obama.
Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016With all due respect to Dr. Jill Stein, I am generally skeptical about voting for a candidate that doesn't have prior political experience and skills.
I would likely vote for Jill Stein if A. I thought she actually had a shot at winning and B. she could actually do anything once she's elected.
She was a Town Meeting Representative for Lexington, Massachusetts.
That kinda counts.

I'm in support of Obama, not even from just a strategic standpoint.
I support Obama. Though I'm underaged, so I can't vote. And even if I could, I live in MS. My vote would drown in all of the red votes.
Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.I'd vote for Teddy again.
sadly, that'd require voodoo at this point.
I'm baaaaaaack...Why?
And changing the constitution.
Well,I'm technically registered and will vote Obama,....if I ever receive the ballot and stuff like that.
I'm starting to think I should've registered as a Virginian
I don't see why we'd have too change the constitution to get Teddy the presidency.
EDIT: I figured out what was wrong with it.

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016Term limits.
Because he is term-limited due to his serving nearly two terms, and since he's dead, the Vice President will immediately usurp the presidency.
I'm going to vote for Stein since I'm in a state where I can afford to be a purist.
I dont think term limits applied to previous presidents. let me check for a second.
he actually became president by election only once. he could be elected once more, and could be vice president to someone about to die after that as much as he wants.

Yes, but what did America get the last time a businessman was elected?
