Third Crusade, the Renaissance, the American Revolution: these are all pretty major events in history. If you need to research just to find an event to build the game around, it's probably not going to sell the product very well.
That goes for every event, by the way. I wouldn't want an Assassin's Creed game set in Canada, since a) nothing of note happens here, and b) it would probably end up being similar to III, what with the frontier, and all.

Yes. Canada. Closely related to America.
I know little about any American revolution. The World Wars were just wars. I care more about Nigeria's civil war and Nigeria's history than America's history. I know more about Nelson Mandela than The Declaration of Independence. I never knew of a place called Forli. How did I know these things? I love researching.
It all matters on where you are. You say that because where you live, such info is common knowledge. Anyone who doesn't know it lives under a rock.
Over here, not many people care about that. But when it comes to our own history, for you not to know means you're a hermit of sorts.

ARCHITECT POWAHHH! Will soon be posting as 'Firebird'... [[http://tinyurl.com/ttwiktlk Wiki Talk SubforFirst off, you just referred to things that happened hundreds of years ago as "news." :P
Second, you may be interested in African history, but Ubisoft is a French company, and the series is developed out of Montreal. You're right that it's all about location, but the location of the people making it supersedes everyone else.

Aye, you got a point there. I was just making a suggestion. That'd be something new, but it'd be better done by someone who actually lived in Africa.
What about AC: Eskimo?

It would be wonderful to explore Great Zimbabwe, the Mali Empire, and ancient Ethiopia.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I think we're as likely to see AC: Africa as we are to see AC: Colonial Australia.

It's not over. Not yet.Now THAT'S a game I'd play.
I sort of wish they had moved into the Jacksonian era. That's my "area of expertise".
I recognize the chances are low of it actually happening. That doesn't make me not think it would be awesome.

It's not over. Not yet.-Assassinates Target X from the roof of a building in Zanzibar-
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. There's plenty of room for stand-alone games that don't have to tie into the meta-plot, or have another modern-day Assassin get into the Animus. After all, the Templar-Assassin war has been going on for thousands of years, right? And sure, Feudal Japan might be out, but what about, say, late Heian-era? Lots of court intrigue going on then that would be similar in a way to what was going on in Italy during Ezio's time.
Also, I've give up trying the tomb. Guess I'll have to do without Altair's armor; I could get a new graphics card, but really it's not worth the investment. See, this is why I don't do PC gaming.
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic.Level 8: Feminism.
Level 9: Larrakinism.
Aren't these slightly out of order? Or at least roughly simultaneous?

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Roughly it's the 60s/70s/80s. Roughly.
It's not over. Not yet.Because my reading about larrakinism suggests it was at least fairly prominent in the 70's. Don's Party (the play released in 71) was a heavy criticism of anti-feminism and larrakinism in middle class Australia, but was embraced as a celebration of masculine identity when it was released (they saw it as an awesome party and not a creepy, rapey nasty thing). That suggests those issues were at least heavily invested in by the middle classes, if not the working collar.
I dunno.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. You're probably right.
It's not over. Not yet.Has the lawsuit come up here yet?

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.I've actually read over the compliant, most of the articles are very general. There are a ton of similarities, eerily so. I still don't think it's infringement or even copying, though. I think they just pulled from the same place in the world of ideas.
Seriously if it was copying then the owners of the Matrix should sue the guy filing this suit. Sadly I could see this actually going to a judge and delaying the games release.

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comI think that author is full of shit.
I'm not sure if that's because he's suing Ubisoft, or because his books are typical Christian Science BS.
It's not over. Not yet.Oh he's entirely full of shit, similarities will always exist. But the way the legal system been as of late I do think this will end up going to a judge. I've seen successful lawsuits for less similarity in other cases. Granted those were music to music.
