Hmm, I never watched any episode but read up to 10th volume. I'm kinda disappointed that they had to change his hair hue.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I love how they adapted the extra chapter about that ayakashi of his past.
And it isn't often a masked ayakashi's eyes are show. To show her connection to her cat-appearance, but still...
Though Dramatic Wind and weather aside when she was cursing humans, it was a little bit unnecessary, since nothing really happened other than her continuing to spook passing or annoying humans...

Never Give UpI'm not up on my Japanese mythology. So I've often wondered of those guys even had eyes. I found her cursing humans to be kinda funny, I mean she obviously didnt have the power to do much harm anyways.
Have the novels/manga been translated somewhere?
The anime is being released right alongside the manga now, what whitchery is this? It must be the work of a powerful ayakashi!
I love that little old lady youkai.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Hm, the manga is being scanlated and is available for online reading on...Mangareader.net, for example.
And I dunno, I believe tehy have eyes, or usually have, unless there is a reason for them not having any. It's just, they have masks for characteristics or whatever to cover those eyes, usually. And for Natsume, for example, it is necessary to hide his human scent/aura/features, so it's mostly ayakashi characteristics to have their face somewhat covered, no matter if they have eyes or not?
Never Give UpThe anime is amazing, I'm on the third season. I binged on the entire second season in like a day.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Both me and my mummy like this show, but I love 'Fortune Cat' Nyanko and I personally think this show is rather gentle and slow-paced... I am not familiar with Japanese myths, so I need translations on what are Youkai (Yokai) and Ayakashi... and what's exactly a Inugami?
My mum thinks that this show is awesome and hopes she doesn't see ghosts like Natsume does xD but Mum says she heard her dead granny walking in their old house long after she passed away 0__o
In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!
Youkai is a blanket term for the supernatural non-human spirits that inhabit Japanese mythology. They can range from helpful to mischievous to downright malevolent (much like the Western Fey-folk). Ayakashi as a term used to mean a youkai that appeared in the wake of a shipwreck, but these days it's almost interchangeable in use to youkai.
Inugami are literally dog spirits (inu/dog + kami/god or spirit), and in popular media you often see them in roles as guardians of people or places.

I'm on the third season, and I just watched episode 4, and I cried so freaking much.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Just finished marathoning the first two seasons. I ran out of kleenex and had to resort to paper towels.
i. hear. a. sound. The fourth season is proving to be just as amazing thus far, I love this series so much.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.com...did... did I just see blood sperm in the middle of season 3?
i. hear. a. sound. Also I saw something about people saying the manga and anime were up to date with each others. That's not true, the manga is always 10-20 chapters (or episodes) ahead of the anime, but nobody seem to be putting up the raws for them so they aren't getting scanlated.
I'm pretty die-hard. So I actually sought out the translation, even without the manga pages to go with them. I had a site but I lost it. :c
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comCurrently watching 4th season a legendary youkai named Karu appeared in episode three, those fluffy things were so cute until I found out that they were actually poisonous.
Ooh! I need to go watch the next episode!
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)So new episode of the fourth season Natsume helps a youkai that can imitate human voices named Yobiko find a youkai named Karikami to restore a letter left by a human girl the youkai clearly had a crush on
I liked his mask. I found it poking out of the bushes to be just adorable. For some reason it reminded me of my dog.
i. hear. a. sound.I love this show so much. Gotta love Yobiko in the latest episode. I like his characterization, how protective he is. And the classic, bittersweet relationship of humans with youkai as portrayed in this episode is what this show is best at and makes for some of the best heartwarming moments as well as tearjerking ones.
It's weird how human-like youkai almost always wear masks which are the only thing that makes them any different from humans in appearance, but then we have Hinoe who doesn't even bother with the mask.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. It's Author Appeal; the author admits they have an obsessive love of masks. <3

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comi always thought that it was just an obscure youkai thing that I've never heard of.
I didn't grab tissues before hand so I had to use my blanket.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comI should watch this anime. I've read all the manga volumes, btw.

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comNew episode is up More of Natsume past and his past problems with youkai, I didn't like that youkai with the scythe because not only he hunted weaker youkai but the whole reason he was tormenting Natsume was because it was amusing for him well at least he did his job in the end

Saw no threads on this wonderful series and it needs to be rectified!
First episode of season 3 was released yesterday, and it's so glad to have this series back. The same wistful, calming tone is very nice to watch. May start rewatching the previous 2 seasons again.
