Ahhh I want to see her and Hero meet. We haven't really seen many mages so far and I want to see one.

A new chapter's up.

...So that's how they're gonna play the Fire Princess.

Having caught up with the latest chapter (20) and... I don't expect them to invoke Superpowered Evil Side to the Demon Queen. Not to mention the gravity/repulsion shenanigans, it's rather hard to swallow when the book gave you realistic economy lectures every chapter. In another note, the Iron Nation defense is pure strategic awesome.

Looking at the character designs for the anime, I'm a bit disappointed, honestly, they're blander than what I expected. What studio is handling this again?

A1. Also the designs for the anime are pretty much based on the LN designs. Akira Ishida's art has spoiled EVERYONE by this point.

Can't wait to see the anime myself.

Haven't read the manga, but saw the first episode. Seems fun. Will probably try the manga, but for now I'll avoid spoilers as much as I can. Are there many in this thread? Or on the work page?

Anyway, while he's Captain Generic, she had me laughing several times. I can never hear the line, "Don't get me wrong," in a non-tsundere way, but then she follows it with, "I really do want you." And her minor annoyance when he pushed her away was amusing in its moderance. She seems very savvy about science as well.

I also find it hilarious that an anime (and manga, I presume) character thinks her arms are flabby, when the general design is underweight and overboobed. I've never even met a single guy who would complain about flabby arms in the first place (well, that I'd want in a relationship, and excluding cases where flabby arms are the least of the problems, but I digress). I was sad that the horns came off, though, even if it was funny.

Overall, very funny, and mostly not at the expense of things being stupid.

The question I was asking myself throughout the entire episode was, what is her plan, exactly? And if the humans wouldn't have enough food if the war ended, why would they have it during the war?

As for a direct answer to your question, the manga adaptations, and presumably the novels, make her say that she thinks her large breasts are undesirable, not the flabby arms.

And yes, there are spoilers on the page. I don't think much of any discussion happened in this thread.

That's either dumb, or reflects a difference between humans and demons for cheap points.

How much is translated?

The question I was asking myself throughout the entire episode was, what is her plan, exactly? And if the humans wouldn't have enough food if the war ended, why would they have it during the war?

Her plan is to avert Decapitated Army and to make the war not profitable to both humans and demons. Solving the food problem is one of the ways she does it.

That's either dumb, or reflects a difference between humans and demons for cheap points.

IIRC it's less different standards and more her Head Maid tends to give her a hard time over her large bust.

Pretty good first episode.

I guess my biggest issue with the first episode is that I don't think they should've played the OP yet. They should've preserved the surprise a little more, methinks.

I hated the character designs at first, but I'm warming up to them now that I see them in motion, and I liked how much foreshadowing they added in.

The magician girls were funny. Never read about being more than one before. Demon Queen PRACTICING love love hug technique = very funny!

I'm mesmerized by the ED theme. Is anyone here the same? The vocals and the marching drums really fit each other.

[up][up]What's wrong with that? tongue

I tend to have a relaxed view of who characters sound like. I'm bad at voice recognition, especially for Japanese, but for the ones I do recognise, I usually recall who the actor is, rather than the character. For the above voice in particular, that role uses a higher (or lower) voice than the hero here, so I don't have a problem with it.

I did recognise three voices, though I had a hard time placing Miss Demon King's voice. However, it works extremely well with her character so far.

The third voice is the merchant's, which is one sexy voice, though one that sounds a little too smooth for me to trust.

By the way, I forgot to mention, but had the wings on his sword been reversed, I'd have called Master Sword on that.

They're too far apart to be related as such. Hero is too oblivious of circumstances to be Lawrence, and Queenie doesn't have an old tongue.

I still think it's dumb he didn't slay the demon king because it looked like a pretty girl. Not because I thought she deserved to die, but because he was supposed to be resolved to do it.

Well that's just the main character being a prejudiced moron who should be dead. Nothing new I guess.

It got better about five minutes in when the demon king started giving logical explanations for things.

But I'm still not sure exactly how the hero was convinced (though there were plenty of reasons he should have been). The way it's directed it seems like it was as much the bouncing as anything else.

Beyond that I found it watchable. And not boring, so I am up for a second episode.
