Wrote a new story. It’s deliberately unsatisfying, but I may have gone too far.

Wrote it for a contest, so I have to publish this Sunday. If anyone is up for some quick feedback, I'd really appreciate it. It’s not a very long story.
What kind of contest is it?
I'm not sure if I'd really call it unsatisfying. Part of that might be because your A/Ns clued me into Pinkie visiting you almost right away. From there, it was a matter of seeing just how far you'd go now that it was markedly a meta story. >.>
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiRage Review's "F*** This Prompt #16". An ongoing contest series encouraging authors to take clichéd plots and make actually good stories with them. The prompt this time is "A character breaks the fourth wall."

"Hesperus Gate" is a story I've been planning to write for a while. This contest just gave me the kick in the butt to actually do it.
That was fantastic. The meta-story that overtakes the story is a neat direction, and the unfinished Word screenshots really help with it. It's a neat little mindf*ck that wraps itself up in an appreciable manner. It is a little unsatisfying to never find out what was actually going on with the black-blood tree-pony thing, but I can understand the choice because ultimately that wasn't the point. The point was Pinkie Pie solving a problem by befriending the author.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Thank you both for the fast editing and suggestions.
I misread the original contest entry, and the submission deadline is actually just three hours from now, not Sunday. So The Hesperus Gate has been published.
Has anyone else here read Sisters!?!?
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.@Yami: Interesting premise, but some of the comments on the first chapter give me the impression I wouldn't like it.
Wonder why it was cancelled.
A lot of people took issue with what they saw as forced and/or cliched drama- and got a lot of upvotes for it- so the author apparently took umbrage or got disillusioned.
I didn't have much problem with it myself- or at least the mystery was interesting enough for me to overlook other issues- but to each their own.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty. For those who read Friendship is Optimal, how do you imagine Luna, i.e. uploaded Hanna: as Season 1 Luna or post season 2 Luna?
Returning to the old Play-by-Post game I've mentioned, I'm writing a story based off that universe. After a multiversal jump or two, Equestria Online has been destroyed (by everyone whom she pissed off; i.e. everyone) and while Hanna/Luna was saved, most of the Ponies in it were not, she's at this point generally living a listless existence in the palace of one of Equestria's exiled princesses (an OC; the original four Princesses are long gone by this point) before said Princess comforts her by talking about how she, too lost her country. Which version of Luna would work best here?

Friendship is Optimal Luna is an OC with Luna's appearance. I don't consider the "season" to matter. Then again, I'm not really a fan of FIO and avoid thinking about it in general except to note that it is about a really horrifying idea.
Chapter V of Lessons in Chaos is drafted.

For a little over a year, Lise Eclair posted a new chapter every single day. It started off as a slice-of-life with metafictional humor and slight mystery over the identities of the various characters, then escalated into relationship drama and a saving-the-world finale. And somehow it told all of it through internet forum posts and PM's.
I'm gonna miss it.
Don't remember if I'd even heard of that before. There's another 400K belated words on my Read Later.
I am approaching catching up to Starlight Over Detrot before it finishes, and I've been reading on and off for long enough that it's as much an institution as EF was for you, so that's kind of a nice feeling. (Binged the rest of the first book of Seven Days in Sunny June last night, too.) After that, I suppose trying to catch up on To Perytonia.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Headcanon: if Fallout Equestria is a video game in the main MLP world, Calamity is Rainbow Dash's husbando.
I tend to treat FO:E as a work of fiction in Equestria, along with another piece with the same initials. Woe betide those who mix them up.
Or bring it up to the caribou, really, who find it absolutely galling.
This story is certainly something, and honestly it bounced right off of both of us as well the first time we read this. But then someone else really liked it, so I did my research and read it again. Apparently, what happened here is that Pinkie talked the author into not writing the story they were planning on writing to protect Equestria from harm, by crossing the Hesperus Gate is my guess. Fun fact: Hesperus is Greek for “Evening Star”, or ending, so you could also say that they saved Equestria by ending the story before it ever really started.
Unfortunately, ending the story before it really starts doesn’t lead to… much of a story, so there’s that. Also accessibility issues hampered this story’s ranking.
It was still a really cool story.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.It sounds like they kinda missed the point of the story; the story isn't the plot that the author is writing, it's the story of Pinkie trying to prevent the author from screwing up her world. It makes it sound like they're just complaining about the fact that it's a meta story rather than the story itself. Or maybe they're trying to say that they found the plotline the author intended to write to be more interesting than where it actually went, which would make more sense.
I can see where they come from with the accessibility issues thing though.

Reaction Image RepositoryAgreed. It's the kind of story where the story initially presented doesn't really matter, because that's not really the story. Functionally, the story we were initially given is a Show Within a Show masquerading for a short time as the real show.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Yeah, it's kinda like watching Tropic Thunder and then complaining that Simple Jack didn't develop its plotline. Or watching UHF and finding it a cop out that the whole thing isn't the Indiana Jones spoof from the opening.

That and while it has its own issues, Fimfic has a lot of features that makes it more convenient to use than most of the other fanfic sites out there. Like Fanfiction.net is painfully annoying to use by contrast.
