@Santos: I don't feel so much limited by it as I revel in it.
Generally speaking, I don't find it too hard to name things around horse references (just Equestrian things, though—other nations are fair game for me to make up my own Flintstone Theming for them). The rest of the setting is diverse enough that I've been able to fit in everything else I want, so being slowed down just a little by having to come up with those names hardly feels like it's holding me back.

Reaction Image RepositoryI love that I don't have to worry if my place names sound stupid, because all the places in canon already have stupid names.
Aperica, pronounce A-pear-ica, but that's not how you're supposed to read it.

I've been trying to come up with tentative non-horsepun names for my Scottish-based setting. Switching Neighdenburgh for Selma was a pretty easy task since it was the palace of Fingal in the 18th century Ossian cycle, though I'm not sure on the country itself. The *Gaelic name could possibly be "Usgaracht" ("The Land of Jewels") since my headcanon was (and is) that they moved in after the Crystal Empire disappeared, but I'm not sure what the English name would be.
Yes. Finally I have more words written.
Still trying to think of a justification for why I pulled "Diversity Kits" out of my ass last chapter, though.
@Anubismon: hypocrisy is common and boring. No,make him lie with the truth, always presenting facts in the most misleading way possible. Make them a troll who calmly delights in others' suffering. Kotomine Kirei is your example.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Finally finished Innavedr. I have to say, for all that the story may have dragged some up to that point, the second half or so when everything comes together (and which a lot of people seem to have skipped in spot checking the saga) is a good bit of craziness. Only... 1.8 million words to go? *shrug* That's what I get for slacking.
Also finally getting back to Green, My Little Alicorn, The Conquering of Love and Shadowbolts Adventures and inching into Because Love Conquers All.
...You know who we haven't seen in a while? Midnight. I know he's mentioned being busy in general, but I keep being concerned that I was too harsh on his last draft and he's trying too hard to rework it.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.I think he's also said that he's easily distracted, which is why he's in and out of the thread so much.

Next draft is ready for review. Got a bit longer than I thought it would, even given what it needed to accomplish.

From Dusk to Night, an adventure fic with a side of slice and romance. It's about Dusky Down, an everymare with a talent for planning and penchant for travel, who keeps finding herself pulled into the troubles and schemes of more powerful/influential individuals—both allies and enemies. Granted, these conflicts are still usually on a much smaller scale than the worst the main six have faced. I suppose one could say that it's what happens when the average citizen has to step up in a world as crazy and dangerous as the FiM world, given that the princesses and main six can't be everywhere.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiAh, sequel to the story that I stopped reading because it went against my headcanon.
Which is a silly, silly reason, so I'm-ma try to fix that.
How about, have you ever read a fic, thoroughly enjoyed the characters and always wanted to see what happened next, but then get to the end and it had kind of a reprehensible moral? Is it worth dropping or voting one way or the other?
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.I either read such a story or have read about someone reading such a story before, re: Fimfiction, but I can't remember exactly.
Either way, I remember it being a punch in the gut or described as such.
I'd say it would depend on a case by case basis.
Reaction Image RepositoryJT, I have to ask: What is your avvie? It looks highly reminiscent to me of Drow Tales.
I'm kind of curious what you're referring to, now, Yami.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Kuroi: I am so far glad I decided to get back to the Necromancer.
Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think I misinterpreted things (even aside from the fact that I'm coming from a different frame of reference regarding it that seemingly most writers). It was the aforementioned Shadowbolts Adventures, specifically Independence Day, so judge for yourself if you like. Like I said, it's an enjoyable series otherwise, with mostly short installments.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Glad to hear. Out of curiosity, what head-canon turned you off of it the first time?
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiOh yes, that was the "cheating on your boyfriend/girlfriend is A-OK" moral.
Honestly, I was fine with it. The point was that these are young teens who are rambunctious and confused and do stupid things sometimes, and it's okay to let people be stupid and not get too worked up about it and let it ruin a relationship.
so a fic that's really cought my interest is lately Friendship: Beyond Equestria. As the title may indicate, it's crossover with Civilization Beyond Earth, one of those fusion crossovers where it's the plot of that game but with ponies.
however, because of the kind of game Beyond Earth is, there really isn't that much of a plot that it has to stick to. It's really just providing a setup and a setting. many, many, many years into the future, Equestria's sun is dying for unspecified reasons, so the ponies have built giant colony starships to try and try and colonize habitable planets that they have detected out there in space so that ponykind does not die out with Equestria. each of the starships is lead by one of the princesses, and this story is all about Twilight's starship. Of course, the story mostly skips over the actually trip there. It's all about them actually trying to colonize an alien world.
It's been a while since I've found a fic that's had me really excited to see in the update box, and this one is even updating on a regular basis!
