I'm sure some Pony author's already thought about this, but anyways: a detail in my upcoming story (might be background, might not) is that Equestria's government has three "core" ministries, dating back to the nation's founding, each traditionally dominated and led by one race of pony. The other, newer ministries have more of an even mix.
Pegasi would obviously be the Ministry of Weather, and earth ponies the Ministry of Agriculture, but I'm a bit stuck on what to give the unicorns. Something like the Treasury or Defense would seem to give them a disproportionate amount of power...

Context: I wrote this a crazed and hazy hurry while listening to heavy metal.
It's meant to take place at some point in my planned series during a drawn out battle over Canterlot with the Mane 6, the Princesses and some other actors versus a gang of far eastern criminals hired by a far western big bad for nefarious purposes.
Twilight and Rainbow Dash take on a kong, a race of monkey people based on saiyans. Rainbow Dash ends the battle by taking the kong for a ride.
The monkey woman in her grasp struggled against her leg, eyes widened as the input of her supernatural sense scratched at her mind, “No, no, you crazy sow! You’ll break it! YOU’LL BREAK IT!!”
There was an explosion and a flash of every color, seen and unseen, as the sound barrier was broken and the cosmic firmament was cracked wide open. Reality could only scream as the rainbow mare seared her soul across the sky and claimed dominion on what was possible. The kong could only scream as she began to feel her individuality subsumed by the pegasus’s legend, as the pony declared the simian as a footnote in her grand story.
Whelp, fanfics about our newest season six spoiler are hitting the feature box now.
Finally some good news on my front: I GOT MY OLD NOTEBOOK BACK! NOTY! Ah, it's good to see ya again! C'mere you, mvah!
And it's mostly intact with all my notes left in it. It's a bit redundant now, but it feels so good to have my old book back.
The Ministry of the Interior/State Department? The Treasury would be a very good pick as well, but Defense probably not, since it seems like the pegasi were the most militaristic of the pony races.
Also, I believe that before the advent of modern communications, diplomats and foreign offices had a lot more influence in making policy than just enacting it than nowadays. But the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would probably be very hard to depict as important unless the story happens to prominently feature contacts with other nations as part of the plot.

It's not that functionally different from First-Person. It is somewhat more odious to read, however.
Second-Person, Present-Tense story. The worst possible narrative arrangement.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.
I've seen it done by a competent author (Charles Stross and his Halting State series) and even then it's a weird, jarring experience.
