It's too conflicting IMO. Some of that stats also included those killed either because of wrong information or just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Senate just ordered an enquiry to the mass killings.
You guys should see letters sent to the local papers by expats. Some of them praise Duterte for declaring war against crime.
Well, all I've been hearing on the local news is the whole "War on Drugs" thing, but lately, I haven't been hearing news about other crimes being committed (from pickpocketing and snatching to hold-ups and armed robbery).
Then again, some of the drug addicts (both former and current—if there's still any left) do resort to such crimes (or did, in the case of the former) just so they can get their next fix...
In all honesty though, President Du30 and Police Chief "Bato" should focus on the Chinese drug lords and their lackeys, seizing their monetary assets whenever possible. I'll bet it's in the millions. (And while they're at it, shame the Chinese who support these drug lords. Those folks in the CPC may publicly deny it as usual, but I'll bet that they'll gladly do to other countries what the British Empire did to them.)
(*inhales*) Had to get that out.

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."The Chinese themselves don't make the drugs, but export the chemicals needed to manufacture them. How much of it is intentional is up for debate, but they're definitely aware (and it would fall in line with this).
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleThe Chinese themselves DO make the drugs, just not in China. They manufacture them here. Then they get drug mules here to bring them back to China. If the mules are caught, "Filipinos are bringing drugs into our country!" If they aren't, well of course there's no outrage in China either LOL.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Duerte won't crack down on the Chinese drug lords because he's Beijing's bitch.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.I wonder if you guys read the US Special Operation Command's white paper on Counter Unconventional Warfare? (The PDF file can be downloaded here.)
Anyway, one of the appendices mentions the whole "Unrestricted Warfare" doctrine being done by the Chinese. And a few episodes of China Uncensored even delved into the matter:
- 11 Ways China Is Breaking Bad
- Chinese Drugs Are Killing Americans
- Was Prince a Victim of China’s Drug War?
IIRC, the Chinese also exports the raw materials/chemicals to the Mexican cartels so the latter can make drugs, and then those drugs are smuggled into the US. According to the USASOC's white paper, that's one way the Chinese are waging their "Unrestricted Warfare." One of the China Uncensored videos also mentioned the Mexican government talking to the Chinese government about this matter, but the Chinese still use that loophole that they're exporting raw materials/chemicals and not drugs, which kinda undermines the Mexican government's own war on drugs.
If Duterte were to read that white paper, maybe he'll think twice about dealing with the Chinese in good faith. And as for that news about China offering help in Duterte's drug war, blin, that's just the Chinese being two-faced as usual.
Ah, the classic "intentionally manufacturing a scapegoat to take public attention away from more pressing problems" shtick... Foreign drug mules aren't the only scapegoat the Chinese communist government uses, but that's a topic for another time/thread.
Eh, we'll see if Duterte is really that stupid enough to remain a Chink bitch...

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."He's indirectly doing so. The environment just turned hostile with very high chances of supply disruption, but China can't officially blame the Philippine government for cracking down on drugs, given their own officially hardline stance.
Particularly as all evidence points towards this being an unintended silver lining to this cloud of indiscriminate class carnage. -_-

@Euo: Back up for a bit, we might have "tangled the lines" here and I need to clear this up: Who were you replying to?
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."The Singaporean ambassador mentioned that if Duterte continues his policies, it's possible that the country will be another Singapore.
With more deaths of course. And times where Duterte is "lacking in sleep" or "was just joking" or whatever. And the law enforcers don't enforce it, but break it too.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Washington has announced their dislike on the rising body count. The hate for criticism is very strong on social media.
@Euo: Got it.
It's days like these that I'm glad that I don't have a social media account and deal with that crap. Note
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Big explosion in a market in Davao kills 10 and injures more. Davao is the home city of President Duterte. No one knows yet the cause of the explosion, though early suspicions suggest the use of a bomb.
As the death toll rises, anti-government forces will get stronger.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleThe Abu Sayyaf is credited as the suspects in the bombing in Davao. A challenge to Duterte as a means of showing justice according to the Koran.

I wonder - or maybe not - what Duterte's response to any kind of Islam-flavoured terror attacks will be.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanEncouraging vigilantism against Muslim "terror suspects"?
What's his stance on the Bangsamoro Basic Law, by the way? I doubt the repercussions of this would be good news for it.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotHe wants federalism to replace it. But it's still undecided since the MNLF and MILF agreed to talk again.
He's friends with the MNLF and MILF leaders (both groups are mostly inactive nowadays). It's only with the AS people he's having difficulties with.
ACCOUNT NO LONGER USED. *straps on jetpack*And Obama cancelled a meeting with Duterte over insults that came outta the latter's mouth.
The insult being him calling Obama a "son of a bitch/hooker (translations vary)".
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranIf there ever is a book on "anti-diplomacy", I will be disappointed if there isn't a chapter dedicated to Duterte.
Also, the government owned TV news broadcast here played the entirety of his remarks uncensored. That was a surprise.

It's suppose to be used in lieu on press conferences when he got elected.
Who knows if that worked? Maybe the criminals have found greener pastures in becoming vigilantes.
