I had a bit of Internet time, so here's this week's links a little early:

Several of Disney's Facebook pages posted 1 Month Until Wreck-It Ralph images on Oct 2:

The Wreck-It Ralph page posted a Vanellope image.

The Walt Disney Animation Studios posted a King Candy image.

The Walt Disney Studios page posted a Ralph image.

There may be others out there, since that's a little bit of an odd character selection, but I haven't come across them.

SEGA's flickr account has images of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, including three of Ralph:

Ralph's wrecking truck. (I think his truck is adorable.)

Ralph's airboat.

Ralph's flying vehicle.

Disney's had a Pinterest board for Wreck-It Ralph for a while now. Not really anything new and there's 6 items there.

From Tumblr:

A little bit about the Owl City song for the movie.

Video of kids with the talking Ralph toy.

Video of kids with the talking Vanellope toy.

Globalsoftpirka posted a link to The Wreck-It Ralph stuff at the Disney Store's Website. There's currently 22 items listed.

A few things reposted from earlier in the week:

I thought this article was posted already, but I can't find the link in the thread. Sorry if I overlooked it! Somebody on Tumblr posted a link to it, How Disney Drew Inspiration from Gaming History for Wreck-It Ralph.

Track list for the Wreck-It Ralph Soundtrack.

The code for this week's Bonus Mission on the Facebook sweepstakes is "45X86XD6". The drawing for this week is for a $100 gift card at The Disney Store.

Screenshot of Felix's stats from Meet Felix.

Screenshot of Ralph's stats from Meet Ralph.

And in the older articles department, I recently found that The Mary Sue had a few articles about Wreck-It Ralph. It's all pretty much old news:

The original announcement | The first trailer | A miscellaneous article mentioning Fix-It Felix Jr. being online - The link they gave | A Comic-Con post with a small mention of Wreck-It Ralph | Another miscellaneous post with a note about Wreck-It Ralph - The link they gave | The second trailer | How Wreck-It Ralph Gets To Use All Those Famous Video Game Characters & Why Mario Was Left Out

Sorry that the links are a little weird this week. I'll be back on the regular schedule of Friday next week and hopefully there'll be more and better stuff to share with everyone!

Getting excited over something before it's released isn't anything new. It's just... this is the first time this has happened with a Disney animated film in a long time!

Oh man, we can order those adorable Sugar Rush dolls now? DO WANT. LIKE A LOT.

The pixelated Ralph plushie is pretty cool, too.

Minty Zaki's scent is green apple? I guess that explains the seating box with the peppermint and the green apple on it, then.

I like how while the sweepstakes avatars spelled Taffyta's name with one less F, that store page spells it with one more F. surprised I'm pretty sure Crumbelina's name is misspelled, too.

I just wonder what kind of stuff the Taffyta talking toy says.

Something cool I noticed about this upload of the French dub is that the audio for the ad at the end is from the gameplay of FIFJ in the beginning of the first trailer, but with no voices dubbed onto it at all!

Someone screencapped that arcade history montage at the start of the new trailer. They found Star Wars and Ninja Turtles. Also Mr. Litwak is apparently based on the Twin Galaxies guy.

[up]x5 @ 1827:

Well, the hype from me must be because Disney's gradually lesser focus on animation (culminated in Home On The Range), mixed with my ever-growing love for Video Games, caused me to stop caring; this, on the other hand, deserves its hype because it takes Video Game characters and places them in an original universe without any ties to any of the franchises featured - which, in turn, is also helped further by the fact that this movie is being made by Disney, a company with movies and animation as its primary focus.

So, a company primarily about movies and animation is making an original movie about Video Games in general as a medium (instead of a movie based on a game), giving them the Toy Story treatment with cameos that manage to outrun the effort previously pulled with Who Framed Roger Rabbit - providing the most accurate portrayal of the medium ever seen on cinema.

That's what hyped me and I guess my case can be taken as a sample for everyone else's hype - that is, I guess my reasons for being hyped are the same ones as everyone else's.

[EDIT: Also, at freaking last! New Italian trailer time! HELL YEAH!]

[up][up]The only thing that would make that better would be either a TRON arcade game, or one of the arcade games from TRON.

Look closely in the background of that scene with Ralph tripping over Q-Bert. Tron's station sign is in the background. Apparently he's one of Calhoun's neighbors.

I panicked slightly when I saw "Feb for UK" as that _usually_ means Aussieland gets it in Feb too.

Checking release dates, it actually comes out in December over here, which is waii for me.~

Owl City's "When Can I See You Again?" has been released. I gotta say it really fits Ralph and Vanellope's friendship and Felix and Calhoun's relationship to a tee. <3

Why are we so excited about a movie we know so little about? Well, for starters, we DO know a lot about it by now; heck, I had already guessed everything that the coloring book reveals (except two things- namely, King Candy's real identity, and Vanellope's too) and I'm MORE excited than ever to see it!

And even without that knowledge, Wreck-It Ralph is an interesting film for the reasons that Alex Sora gave. Besides, just *guessing* about a movie is fun by itself- I'd argue it's the whole point of threads like this. I've been really enjoying the comments and efforts of people like Sora, Mewtwo Warrior, and Bag of Magic Food. If all I wanted was to SEE the film, I wouldn't even post here! I find that the discussion has only increased my potential enjoyment. Could we be setting ourselves up for a big disappointment? Maybe, but so what? That's a risk you always take with entertainment. Right now, I want to give my thanks, once again, to everyone who has contributed to make this thread so awesome! ;)

The official Wreck-It Ralph Facebook page posted that you can now use a cheat code on the official site.

People in the comments have told how to do it, you have to click on the "Choose Your Destination" bar underneath the main section and it'll let you type it in. The code is the Konami Code (up up, down down, left right, left right, B, A) and is put in with the arrow keys and the keyboard.

The cheat code unlocks another set of downloads, this time wallpapers, icons, and Facebook banners with 8-bit versions of Ralph, Felix, Calhoun, and Vanellope.

Also, I beat Hero's Duty last night and had an absolute blast playing it.

D'aww song is d'aww. Maybe I'm a big ol' softy, but I've always liked Owl City's particularly sugary brand of pop. And here it actually fits really well!

Did anyone else notice the candy cane tree scene was mirrored in the new international trailer? You can tell because Ralph's single suspender strap ends up on his left side, just like when he faces left or punches with his right hand in the online versions of Fix-It Felix, Jr. It would be funny if the movie ended up doing something with characters reversing themselves... but it's probably just an oversight.

I'll have to try loading up Hero's Duty a few more times this weekend and see if the graphics ever appear. smile

Oh... Owl City was the singer of "Fireflies" and "Youtopia"! That's why I thought I recognized something.

[up] Huh, that's interesting that they'd mirror a scene. Ralph's also mirrored in the Meet Ralph trailer when he's selected as the character and it shows his stats. It's kind of bizarre that they keep mirroring him and some of the others and then sometimes go through a good amount of effort to keep it from being a pure mirror.

Good luck, I hope you can get Hero's Duty working! It works in Chrome for me, though I haven't tried it in any other browser.

Cool... I just hoped I wouldn't have to install a whole new browser just to play one game. tongue I hear Firefox is pretty wasteful with memory, though.

The really funny thing about mirrored Ralph is when he stands on the roof in the Flash version with the end-level scene, he's got the strap on the left side, even though in the arcade version, that exact same pose has his strap on the right side, and there's no reason he should ever face right in that pose. It's as if they took only the sad face Ralph makes and pasted it onto the mirrored walking sprite they already had, in order to add the absolute minimum of new graphics. smile

Still trying to get to the bottom of the Green Shirt Felix mystery... Did I mention Green Shirt Felix also appears on the game world's train cars? (By the way, I like that Pac-Man's is called the Pac-Manorail.) But I took another look at the art around the screen, and in the movie trailers, it's not quite the old version; the pie lady has already changed into her new palette with the green dress, even as Felix still wears green too. Additionally, by looking at videos of the old-graphics demo from 2011 very carefully, I noticed that the art to the left of the screen was completely redone from how you see it in everything else. Ralph and Felix weren't in the proper teeny-tiny form you see around the rest of the screen. Ralph appeared to be yawning, while bricks and a pie fell past a Felix who was reaching up with his hammer awkwardly. I think the new version puts a brick pile instead of a pie there.

And when I took another look at the arcade flyer's cabinet and zoomed way in, it looked to me as if the upper instructions weren't even of the original Felix, but of Mario, jumping from brick to brick in Donkey Kong! They might not have pasted over that yet at the time the photo was taken, I guess.

Regarding the cheat code: Oh hey, it's the graphics from the window sticker! So now we've got four of them. One thing that annoys me about the regular downloads page is that they added a cool new sound effect for unlocking downloads with points, but they also fixed it so that you only see the unlocking for each unlockable once ever, so now I can never hear that cool sound effect again.

It's good that the new games are all available embedded into the Wreck-It Ralph site, because on the regular Disney games pages, I haven't been able to get the actual Flash application containing the game features to show up for a few days now; it just gives me a page full of text links every time. Earlier this week, I wasn't able to log in, which I chalked up to the site redesign... Has anyone else been able or unable to use the game pages for games like this and this?

[up] Yeah, I can understand that! Firefox used to work pretty good for me, but lately it's not been acting right and Flash won't work in it any more, so I've moved just to Chrome.

Ha ha, that's something else! I thought that they'd be able to have the Flash and arcade versions of the game the same and just port it, it's strange that they've done different things with them, like the sad mirrored Ralph you mentioned.

Oh, I didn't notice that about Green Shirt Felix and the train cars! (That's neat, I like that!) Hmmm, that's interesting that the trailer version has a sort of inbetween version of the cabinet.

That's cool that the cheat code goodies are the window sticker images. Somebody posted a few on Tumblr, but out of the main 4, I think they only had a pic of Vanellope. Hmmm, maybe if you delete your cache and cookies, it'll forget that you've unlocked it and reset your progress?

I just tested the links in Chrome and they appeared to be working for me. I'm not sure why they'd not work like that for you.

Oh goodness, if you can get Hero's Duty to work, you've GOT to play with sound if you use the Ralph code to unlock him as a teammate temporarily. After you reach level 66, you get an achievement that has a code that when used gives you three uses of Ralph as a temporary teammate. You can activate him yourself, or if one of your teammates dies, he'll automatically take their place. Unfortunately, he doesn't last long, usually just until the end of the level. And you can only use him the three times, once they're gone, you've got to restart the game in order to unlock him again.

Anyways, once Ralph's active, he complains pretty much the entire time (even when he's not under attack sometimes!). There was some kind of upset noises I couldn't figure out what he was saying, "When did video games become so violent and scary?", and then just once he said something along the lines of "Rootin', tootin', and ready for shootin'!" His chatter is even funnier because the other teammates are largely silent except for a single "Great!" or "Cool!" at the end of each level. He's also useful because he shoots pretty much constantly.

You can unlock Calhoun too, but her chatter isn't as much and isn't nearly as amusing.
