Wreck-It Ralph

It wouldn't even be realistic since arcades still exist they're just not as popular. At least in America. Arcades are still extremely popular in places like Japan. They could easily set a sequel in another arcade if they handwaved a way for them to move our character's arcade machines without their games dying.

Rich Moore expressed an interest to feature more current consoles and games if a sequel was made.

I think it's safe to say, there will be a tribute to Satoru Iwata in some form.

Sure, the movie will be out years after his death, but still, a game specifically about movies won't miss a chance to pay homage to him I think.

Wreck-It Ralph is probably my favorite of all the "modern Disney" animated films (even more than Frozen), so this is great news.

It is a bit surprising though that they'd announce a sequel to this first over their cash cow.

That's a short, it is a sequel, but Frozen 2 is going to be a film.

I didn't mean Fever, I was talking about a full-length sequel. According to Wikipedia it was already announced in March.

It seems that they've decided to have Ralph and his friends explore the internet instead of continuing the story at the arcade. I wonder how that will work. My guess is they accidentally stumble upon an internet modem?

Though I guess we can kiss any chance of more video game character cameos goodbye, unless they happen before the main premise. However, I do expect cameos from YouTube stars or other web personalities.

Please no, the last thing we need is memes and You Tube people. I was thinking that they would make use of online games with cameos from WoW characters or (more likely) Minecraft.

Both franchises' film rights are unfortunately in the hands of rivals. Warner Bros. is releasing a Minecraft movie in 2019, while the film rights to WarCraft are with Universal and Legendary Pictures. If Disney chose to reference both franchises the sequel, all they can liekely do are through an Expy (like the character in the first movie during the villain conference that resembles Kano) or a Shout-Out (like when Ralph said hello to Mario off-screen).

Ehh, those were just examples anyway. There are a bunch of other games they could reference (indies come to mind).
