There were some great toads in the first two games, like Tayce T, Russ T (The scholar), or that pop star toad from TTYD.

And hair, they need hair as well.

Seriously, I'd settle for Toadette-style mushroom hair things. What about a shiitake pompadour?

I sure said that!

[up] That could be interesting to see.

Oh for heaven's sake, this just popped into my head: Shin Megami Tensei X Paper Mario, a crossover of Paper Mario and Shin Megami Tensei. There of course would be censorship, but nothing too severe.

A Paper Mario idol game? Odd concept, but I can dig it.

[up][up] No, nothing like Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Sorry to disappoint, but I mean a serious crossover between Paper Mario and Shin Megami Tensei. At the start of the game: Mario would have 50 HP since Goombas would be able to deal a minimum of 5 damage (10 if it's a critical).

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle amiibo support revealed. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach amiibo will give an exclusive weapon to the character and their respective Rabbid counterpart.

Huh. I am gonna be honest here: If Nintendo and Intelligent Systems think that they can continue to use Excrement Star's formula for Paper Mario 6, then they should just cancel the series altogether because the fandom is going to cry foul and either downvote it en masse or harsly criticize it.

[up]I'm saying that Nintendo should outright stop making Paper Mario games if they're just going to reuse Sticker Star, or if that's too unreasonable only release them in Japan. With the state that Paper Mario is currently in, I don't think too many American gamers would mind if Sticker Star 3 stayed in Japan and never gets released state-side.

I'm pretty sure Color Splash's reception was eventually more positive than outcry from the first trailer.

And I think the Mario RP Gs has always been more successful outside of Japan than in it.

speaking of Mario RP Gs, Game Xplain has the first 10 minutes of the Superstar Saga remake uploaded

I love how they remixed/added to the Superstar Saga battle theme for the remake again.

I am really missing the classic look with the thick black outlines... they nailed the animations though.

I still don't like Bowser's design for this game and I'm iffy on the art direction but those new animations are on point and the tutorials being shoved inside a little box you can ignore is amazing.

It's interesting that they changed the jump attack to be a double jump like it is in every game except the original Superstar Saga. I wonder if that'll affect the gameplay at all.

Yeah, they didn't nail Bowser's look in the Dream Team style.

Still better than the original, barely.

[up][up]Also, the movement tutorials in SSS were always like that. But they gave Mario an impatient annoyed sprite for those which was neat.

BIS/PIT Bowser > DT/PJ Bowser > SS Bowser.

I love Superstar Saga but man was Bowser Off-Model and fugly. Well, fuglier than usual.

Nah, I think the Dream Team!Bowser is very much on model. The US/EU Superstar Saga sprite for him was VERY off model, though. I think they redrew it for the japanese release.

Yeah, I booted up SSS again to compare it to what we saw in that video and it seems like they just took Bowser's design from that game and updated it without making it look not ugly. Also, I'll say it again: The new animations are really on point and the old animations are now so much smoother. Updating the action command to the double hit is also great since it gives the correct timing more visual impact. There are also a lot of other small details changed. A full list of changes between the two is likely to be very long.

Lastly, I love that saving is now basically instantaneous. I had forgotten how long it can take in the original.

[up][up]Didn't say DT Bowser was off-model, he's just got a case of chubby cheeks.

Not 100%.

Does anyone else feel like the moons aren't as satisfying to collect as stars/shines?

I don't know, maybe it's because the fanfare is toned down, but I feel like the moons aren't as unique as the different stars.
