Basically, the plot of the movie is this:

A bunch of women are kidnapped from an abortion clinic by some pro-life doctors. They are all forced to stay in a room for seven months until they give birth at the same time. All the women are furious (and rightfully so) about being forced to keep their pregnancy. At the end of the movie, it turns out that they all died on the abortion operating table and are in Purgatory, but that the one who was most opposed to being pregnant is going to Hell, where she will be forced to be pregnant and give birth for all eternity as punishment. Oh, and the male kidnapper is Satan. And the kidnappers are the "good guys".

This movie is abhorrent on so many levels that it actually seems like more of a pro-choice flick by exposing the core of the pro-life movement for the tyrants that they are. It's like the The Taming Of The Shrew meets Saw, with a little moral about why women should just be baby breeding tanks at the end of the movie.

Discuss.

Mods, merge this with the abortion thread if you want, but if not then we should just make sure we only discuss the movie.

We should just make a counter-movie, where a woman wanted to terminate her pregnancy, but a doctor lied about it and thus the Anti-Christ was born.

I'm generally pro-life, but... I have no words to describe the shitness of this film.

Wait...am I the only one who think the movie is a bit confused about which side it's trying to advocate?

[up][up][up]Maybe it's intentionally bad to make the pro-life side look bad. On second thought, not maybe - probably.

Yeah, I mean...you generally don't pick Satan to represent your cause unless you're deliberately going for a weird twist that proponents of this don't usually stand for. Satan Is Good tends to piss off fundies and all.

There was another horror movie with a pro-life message (made in Turkey, I believe) called The Abortion. Basically, the director's entire point was that women are evil and deserve to be shat upon. Not surprisingly, the movie was a total critical and financial disaster (even spending some time in the IM Db's Bottom 100, of which it might still be there).

And for some reason, it got American distribution.

This was discussed on the Snopes message board - they linkied to TV Tropes with Villain Ball (the author :-) ) and Designated Hero / Designated Villain .

As remarked, it's also a great pro choice plot. What's that Japanese term for a story retold from very different points of view as if related by different witnesses? That's what the sequel should be :-)

@blueharp - Once upon a time, there was a 15-year-old girl who had sex with her boyfriend. Because they were Catholic, they wouldn't use condoms, so the girl got pregnant. The guy leaves his girlfriend because it's the woman's duty to raise babies - and besides, men have important lives ahead of them! The girl doesn't want to be thrown out of the house by her parents if they find out she's pregnant. So she secretly goes to an abortion clinic. It turns out that the Catholic boy has joined a gang of pro-life extremists (most notably a preacher and his wife) and he tells them about his ex-girlfriend's plan to get an abortion. He says she shouldn't get one because it's "his child" and she has no right to terminate it from her womb. So he and his buddies work together to kidnap her from the abortion clinic, blowing it up with a million pipe bombs in the process, setting fire to not only the abortion clinic but to local businesses and passerby as well, including a pro-life rally that was going on at the same time. ("At least they're with God in Heaven for their good work now," notes the preacher.) The preacher has been able to buy an island with all the money he gets from televangelism and takes the girl there. She is locked in a room where she must stay until she gives birth to the child. In the meantime, her ex-boyfriend berates her for even considering the prospect of having a future besides raising babies, and the preacher and his wife call her a murderer. The girl tries to kill herself, end the pregnancy, and escape several times, but every time she is caught and brought back to the room. Finally, she is chained to a bed 24/7 and must be spoon-fed, so that she won't try to escape or hurt herself. When she finally gives birth, she dies during childbirth and the baby turns out to be the Antichrist.

ALTERNATE ENDING: The woman has a normal pregnancy and is allowed to go back to her dilapidated home in Kansas. However, the conservatives have cut Medicaid and financial aid programs, leaving her with no chances of finding a job and no one to rely upon.

ALTERNATE ALTERNATE ENDING: The main character kills herself trying to induce her own abortion, but she destroys the Antichrist in the process. It turns out that the "Catholics" weren't Catholics at all, but Satanists who were trying to make sure the Antichrist was born. And the teenage boy is Satan in disguise. "Well, you're just gonna have to knock up another girl again, Satan," remarks the preacher.
