I played the game first over a year ago, but my copy's sealed away in a storage box about 300 miles away from me, so I just said eff it and downloaded it to start an Evil run-through. Figured I might as well go for the hard mode trophy as well. The game's still just as good as I remember it.

I like to think of it as electric Spider-Man, personally.

Also: Does anyone know anything about Old Save Bonus for the second game? What gets carried over?

So acouple if days ago I had to save a group of people bring kidnapped by Reapers, do I thunder dropped off a tall building. I ended up killing all the hostsages while the Reapers were only unconscious, and I still won the mission. I love this game.

I just did the side mission where the Reapers and the Hobos blow the crap out of each other ... complete with one of the Hobos blowing up the gas station under his own feet. Also got credit for not one, but two Reapers getting mowed down by a train while they fired at me. Ha ha, suckers!

Quit last night right after getting the Megawatt Hammer. Must try rocket redirection soon - preferably at one of those fucking turret trucks. Getting to the power station for the hammer was such a gigantic pain in the ass, since I couldn't really get close enough on any of the rooftops to blast them without acquiring some unneccessary ventilation. Took me three tries to get there!

I did not like megawatt hammer that much I preferred grenade spam (mainly because the rockets are too slow.)

I loved the Megawatt Hammer, used it to take out the Conduits.

I'm watching a Let'sPlay of it right now on Something Awful and it's really interesting.

Mymain thoughts so far are this:

1. Trish is a terrible love interest. Completely unlikable.

2. To contrast with that, Sasha is the best character in teh game IMO. Interesting personality, amazing voice and dare I say, a far better love interest than Trish.

Sasha makes kissy sounds for you and every time she speaks, she sounds like she's getting wet just thinking about Cole. Trish has been a bitch for the entire game until the last mission.

I guess Good Cole "makes more sense" but I prefer Evil Cole because it means more Sasha.

3. In the LP, Alden just got arrested. That doesn't make any sense. Cole outright admitted Alden was a mega badass and way out of his league. Cole himself can take out dozens of cops no problem.S o how did the losers get Alden?

@3 Play the game. For starters, yes Alden is a powerful Conduit but he is physically frail. It was implied that Alden was ambushed while Cole was wreaking havoc through his base.

I can't play the game. I have no PS 3.

Thanks for the reply, though.

Re: The Megawatt Hammer

Wait until you get the upgrade that lets makes the basic lightning bolt act as a targeting beam for them to home in on. I'm very fond of firing several up into the air, shooting an enemy with a bolt and watching hell rain down on them. I call it the Megawatt Storm.

[up] It's more of a battle of attrition. Kessler is a real damage sponge and it takes a while to get to his other phases. Practice makes perfect. Once you learn the counter for each of his moves, it's more a matter of not going out of bounds more than anything else. Oh, and the classic "leave one annoying enemy (the droids not his insta-kill clones) around so they don't spawn more" works for his final phase.

I wanted to punch Trish in the head several times throughout the game. And I had no problems with leaving her to die. Sasha is just nuts though and I was disappointed that Cole never got the chance to finish her off; unlike Alden and Kessler.

I finished it a couple of weeks ago. I liked exploring the city and some of the main missions, but the enemies fucking sucked and the Karma choices were fucking bullshit.

[up]Which brings up the point of the story... it isn't Infamous's strong point, that's for sure. Lot's of little plot holes or cliched moments that remind me of quite a few Marvel comics. But then again the game is all about the superhero powers, so what the hell, right?tongue

The story is interesting. it's not groundbreaking or anything but it's not bad either. The characters all have well explored personalities and the background info you get from John is very fun to listen to.

In the end, it is supposed to be comics-like in its plot and storytelling.

I beat Good mode this morning.

The one thing that bugged me most on my run through is that several times, you have to sit there and listen to them blather on, when I'm on the couch thinking "These guys are mass-murdering criminals, and I'd like to shut them up with a couple of MEGAWATT HAMMERS TO THE FACE!"

  • ahem*

Am I the only one who found Alden, or even just the regular golem-conduits, more challenging than Kessler?

Also, the "hidden package" missions seem incredibly easy to miss. A couple of them, I literally ran around the area for 5+ minutes looking for badguys, and if my grenades auto-captured them (I love that feature) then I wouldn't get the mission option.

I thought the golems were hard too, until I realized that you can blow up their arms, which practically cripples them and makes them exponentially easier.

My main problem with the plot was that certain elements didn't feel too well implemented. Sure ... do I need spoiler protection?... sure Kessler's from the future, but he's the only person who is. It doesn't really inform the plot very much, and it's a fact that only has relevance in two cut scenes — one of which is the end one — so you wonder why they'd waste such a great idea like that. Kesller could have been anyone, and that would have been boring. The fact that he's you from the future... that's cool! So do more stuff with it.

Sacha too felt oddly implemented, just hovering around the edges of the plot after you finish up the first island. Alden was less of a problem for some reason, but that's because I feel that the plot was kicking into high gear about the point that you fight him for the first time. Perhaps if the two of them existed beyond their function as first and second bosses, to the point of actually having characterisation. I'm disappointed Sascha doesn't turn up in the sequel. Or Moya, or Alden. The majority of story should be told in the games, not outside of them. Grrr.

Plot holes though, I didn't really sense.

[up] I don't see how Kessler's time travel twist was wasted. Sasha alludes to it during her boss fight, it comes up numerous times in the dead drops, it explains several of his comments as well as the whole killing Trish thing. I thought it was set up and utilised pretty well.
