Evolution Power Up still only has two hats on YKTTW. I know I gave it one.
The other two tropes to be split off each have 5.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI gave EPU one. Long time ago.
Punctuated equilibrium is the idea that most species stay relatively unchanged for long periods, and evolve in "spurts"note (which usually correspond to some catastrophe) rather than gradually and steadily. E.g.: [1]◊
But I don't think that's a good name for a trope. Redirect, possibly, but it's not really the same, and who is going to search for either of those words anyway?

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The plan was to point Punctuated Equilibrium at Evolutionary Levels.
Fight smart, not fair.Yeah I mean they are not the same; even metaphorically it's a stretch. That would be sort of like pointing General Relativity at Gravity Master.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Eh, if I were trying to explain Punctuated Equilibrium, Evolutionary Levels is a term that might come up. Not that it really deserves general knowledge.
Fight smart, not fair. It's been a month. Just Launch It Already, the spinoff tropes, I mean.

Wiks swept down to the end of A.
Fight smart, not fair.Wicks swept to the end of B.
Also, I've written a new description on Sandbox.Evolutionary Levels if anyone else wants to okay it.
Fight smart, not fair.Is everyone satisfied with the sandbox linked in 61 so we can close this?
Fight smart, not fair.Wait, I'm going to edit the first line to include mutation, and see if there's anything else.
Didn't need any major changes, though. Looks good to me.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyClocking due to inactivity. What's left to be done here?
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Huh. I don't even know. Deboss, what were we up to? I know there was something.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyPunctuated Equilibrium should never be used as a title, even an alt title. You would be contributing to the confusion that causes this trope in the first place.
Punctuated equilibrium is indeed an actual term, and it does indeed refer to the idea that evolution takes sudden jumps.
Except that as rodney points out, this still refers to what we as humans would consider very long time periods. Species that change as fast as Hollywood Evolution often shows are not undergoing punctuated equilibrium, and it shouldn't be called that.
I think we were discussing Sandbox.Evolutionary Levels as the new description. Is everyone okay with it y/n?
Fight smart, not fair.Bumpity for feedback.
Fight smart, not fair.Sandbox looks good to me. There may be room for improvement, but I think it's probably good enough to be getting on, at least for now.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Okay, feedback established. Swapped. Hollering for lock.
Fight smart, not fair.Thank you for the work.
The sad, REAL American dichotomySwept down to the end of Literature. Ugh, so much "evolution depicted wrong!" crap.
Fight smart, not fair.
That was the actual name for that theory of evolution. Since Evolutionary Levels is closely related, it might be searchable. It's similar to us using "Lamarckian evolution", using a technical term as a redirect.
