First thing's first: KEEP. THIS. SHIT. CIVIL. If you can't talk about race without resorting to childish insults and rude generalizations or getting angry at people who don't see it your way, leave the thread.
With that said, I bring you to what can hopefully be the general thread about race.
First, a few starter questions.
- How, if at all, do you feel your race affects your everyday life?
- Do you believe that white people (or whatever the majority race in your area is) receive privileges simply because of the color of their skin. How much?
- Do you believe minorities are discriminated against for the same reason? How much?
- Do you believe that assimilation of cultures is better than people trying to keep their own?
- Affirmative Action. Yea, Nay? Why or why not?
Also, a personal question from me.
- Why (in my experience, not trying to generalize) do white people often try to insist that they aren't white? I can't count the number of times I've heard "I'm not white, I'm 1/4th English, 1/4th German, 1/4th Scandinavian 1/8th Cherokee, and 1/8th Russian," as though 4 of 5 of those things aren't considered "white" by the masses. Is it because you have pride for your ancestry, or an attempt to try and differentiate yourself from all those "other" white people? Or something else altogether?

Forgive my mind for going there, but can you imagine a show like The Sopranos but with The Wire-style black gangsters?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I am throwing my empty wallet on the screen but nothing is happening.

One thing I credit that movie for is getting it's ecology right. An island population of birds more often than not becomes flightless, which leaves them highly vulnerable to mainline predators such as cats, snakes, rats, and yes pigs.
Of course though the racists can't tell the difference between an invasion of predatory animals and foreigners. Even in the movie Red recognized that it would be fine if they were just moving there (provided they did something to compensate him for his home) it's that they were lying about so many things that he had reason to be suspicious.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. The racists see the forigners as an invasion of predatory animals dear, its not that they cant tell the diffrence, its that thats how they actualy see them.
After reading a review that pointed out the Unfortunate Implications of the movie, I was expecting it to happen.
Not something I'm happy about, but then not much could be done.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotI kinda feel like I have to see the movie now, if only to have some context on this.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Don't waste your money on it, the trailer pretty much had all the funny parts.
Inter arma enim silent legesIt was decent. And you need not pay to see it. There are... perfectly LEGAL means...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I doubt there is anything wrong with the movie, beyond being a tie in movie for a game I have no interest in.
If anything, this seems more of an anti-immigration parable than a racist parable. Not that it is either. But anti-immigration, though usually racist, is quite different. I know at least one person who opposes open immigration for strictly economic reasons.
So not only is the guy a unrepentant bigot, he's a dumb bigot.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotHey, I subscribe to evil accounts and pages too. It's always interesting to see the bigot mindset in action, when they thing they're among themselves.
And, like a broken watch, they're right twice a day or so. We've got assholes on the progressive side too.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Sure, but do you do so on a publicly traceable account you can't use Plausible Deniability on?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotWell I can't say I haven't subscribed to Alex Jones channel just to see what that idiot is up to.
But for Phil? Nope, he's a clear cut bigot.
Inter arma enim silent legesThree white 12 year old boys wrapped a rope around a black girl's neck and dragged her to the ground in Texas. This happened on a school trip. The girl's parents weren't notified and the school alleges it's nothing but an accident.

See, if memory serves physical altercations are not that uncommon at the schools I went to. But this one has clearly racist undertones (it just feels like a re-enactment of lynching, both in terms of procedure and skin colours) and seems fairly dangerous to me as well.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Yeah, it doesn't feel like an accident to me either. An why didn't they take her to the hospital?

Oh really when? They didn't want to pay the ambulance bill and really wanted to get sued.
Or they didn't see that injury as dangerous. Assuming good faith here, though.

It's interesting that the gap seemed to be greater for black men compared to black women. It seems t hat the pre-existing gender bias actually grows when the men are black. I suspect that it's connected to the angry blackk man stereotype.
