...no, not really .
I'm waiting for it to actually be So Okay, It's Average, and for all of the major critics only be able to grunt about it being a lifeless, non-canonical cashgrab of a series that's been cashgrab after cashgrab since Guns of the Patriots.
(Excuse me while I fetch myself a glass of water.)
On the other hand maybe all of the spite will push it into the bargain bin sooner rather than later, and remove any possibility of a Monster Hunter-esque Metal Gear game afterward.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I can't even hate it. I just feel disappointment.
,
...Really?
Huh. I was under the impression that we'd all boycott Survive in an effort to stick it to the jerks at Konazi, but really?
Actually, to be honest, I don't exactly hate it myself, but at the same time, I kinda find myself unable to generate any faith in this game beyond "maybe the inevitable underperformance of this game will knock some sense into the hacks at Konami."
It's hard to keep a hate machine running. It runs out of steam real quickly.
Plus, I'm thinking at best it'll be a average game, which is a far worse fate for it. Because that'll mean it'll eventually just be forgotten and nothing will really come of it.
It doesn't matter if the fires of rage are kept at full flame or not, the odds are Survive'll falter either way.
I sure said that!I ain't even remotely considering buying it so that's enough hate for me.
I'm more apathetic to it than anything. Co-op zombie shooters aren't really my preferred genre.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotI've accepted that it's happening. I've vented all my bile, I've said everything that I have to say and I await its release with displeasure, but honestly it's not that big of a deal any more. Metal Gear is a dead franchise after V anyway, it's not the first time a license has been milked in a dumb way and it won't be the last.
Survive can come out and be whatever Konami want it to be. I was never going to buy it due to lack of interest and because I only play PS 3 right now, and that's all the effort I'm willing to put into hating it now.
I really do love V. Not so much for story but for pure gameplay, it easily makes it into my top 10 games just on gameplay alone, mind you it's not top 5, but with gameplay this smooth.
A smidge off-topic, but sort of related: You guys know how they showed the trailer for the upcoming Ghost in the Shell movie at a GITS event in Tokyo?
Kojima was there and took a few photos!
- Kojima with the movie's producer Avi Arad and what is said to be Batou's car!
- Kojima with Mamoru Oshii (director of the first 2 GITS anime movies) and Kenji Kamiyama (director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex)!
- Some of the props and a costume from the live-action movie. The detail in the opened cyborg's face is crazy, no?
I wonder if he's looking foward to the movie...
Who knows, but we all love this weird man.
...he does have a strange interest in us Westerners doesn't he...
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Its not really strange, western popculture otakus are rather common in Japan. And like it or not he is an otaku of western action movies and such.
Just as there's people in America and Europe who are obsessed with Japanese culture, there are Japanese folk who are obsessed with western culture.
This is the man who deliberately designs his games to resemble American action flicks, included a modern-day cowboy in Ocelot, and insists on casting American celebs in the roles when he can.
And is also inexplicably friends with Stan Lee.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Wait, Stan Lee? How the fuck did they even meet, much less become pals?
I sure said that!Beats the hell outta me, but here's them goofing off at Video Games Live◊, here's Stan celebrating Metal Gear Solid's 20th anniversary, and cosplaying as Ocelot◊.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Gotta admit, he certainly does look the part of Ocelot.
Yeah, he does. I wonder why none of us thought of it.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.RE: Kojima being friends with Stan Lee:
O_O
How many friends in the west does Brojima have?!
Probably a lot. He is as you put Brojima.
Does he know that some of his fans call him Brojima? Think he'd be flattered/pleasantly embarrased by it?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. He has Twiiter account. He must have known; sooner or later someone will call him Brojima and then it explodes like a Big Bang.
Dang, learn something new every day.
I sure said that!
So, just checking, we all still hate Metal Gear Survive just for existing, right?
And as such, we're all plotting to boycott the evil lifeless game to teach the demons at Konami what happens when they infuriate their target audience one too many times, right?
