Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in the LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion Thread.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

Federal judge strikes down Texas gay marriage ban
This is from USA Today, not The Onion.
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodIt's been left in place pending the appeal though
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT SO SOON.
And I suppose I'll just keep not expecting that until it's finalized, but if marriage does get legalized in my state...
Maybe I won't move.
An Onion article would probably be along the lines of, "Federal Court imposes universal gay marriage," or maybe "Federal Court finds all marriage unconstitutional."
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI like the second one.
Crossposting from Yack Fest's LGBT thread: Holy shit, progress for my state. Well it's so freaking cold here that I guess Hell really has frozen over :P
As I said in the U.S. Politics thread, I suspect that if there is sufficient unanimity of opinion among state and federal judges, SCOTUS may defer to them in lieu of being forced to make a decisive national ruling on gay marriage.
Have any gay marriage bans or similar legislation been upheld?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"One month later, a Missouri judge will strike down its gay marriage ban.
Please let that happen.
Interesting.
Not the best picture of the Governor.
This Melvin character is cruisin' for a loosin' though.
This is a really backwards step for the Republicans. Clearly, this raft of bills is a back-against-the-wall move by the religious right who know that the tide is turning against them. But the Arizona one in particular has actually galvanisd their opponents against them, much as we discussed a few pages ago in this very thread. By being so extreme, a lot of unwanted attention has come at them from sources that usually wouldn't so much as bat an eye at the state.
They're also risking alienating some of their own followers, since they have now a proven history of going back on their own policies. Though that risk is probably negligible given that people who are annoyed at such things are hardly going to vote Democrat, they'll stick with them because of no real alternatives.
Brewer doing this is a case of a stopped clock being right twice a day by my reckoning, but the result is what matters and I won't look this gift horse in the mouth.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. The one I like best on Facebook points out that the AZ law would permit a business from denying service to any woman not wearing a full burqa and hijab. Which it would have, only the idiots that wrote it never figured that part out.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswHow about letting a Jain or a Quaker refuse service to a veteran or a gun owner? Imagine how that would go.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Poorly for the Quaker, I'd imagine.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I do love the Arizona restaurant that had the sign up saying "We reserve the right to refuse service to members of the Arizona legislature" (the picture is easily googleable).
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.I really wish that the LGBT Rights and America thread would merge with the LGBT Rights and Religion thread...because when the topics inevitably converge, there's always the chance of a mod yelling NO RELIGION in here.
So, I'll crosspost.
Right now there's a three-way, since the Arizona bill has also been covered in the general US politics thread.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. So to stay on topic, is it gay in a three-way?

Kentucky has 24 hours to start recognizing Same Sex Marriages.
Why does a Democratic AG want the court to postpone that ruling?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!""Because it's Kentucky", too obvious an answer?
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Probably "We don't want to lose the Midterms as harshly, it just adds fuel to the fire of Kentucky Republicans, who are probably on ultra edge mode with this and the Kentucky Obamacare set-up doing so well.".
I think it was the founder of GO Proud who left the party.
