The image itself isn't so bad, but it's on an old, cracked piece of pottery, which really hurts the quality of the image.

What about Sleipnir◊, Odin's horse?

It was chosen here after a long discussion.

And it's "an old cracked piece of pottery" because it's a photo of a Classical Greek rendition of Pegasus, one of the oldest Cool Horses known.

I think that a page image that's not new is entirely in keeping with a trope this old.

This would be the motorbike horse (I know it's a demotivator, but you could always just crop it)

That still hurts the visibility of the picture, since the point of a picture is to clearly illustrate a trope.

And being old is an attribute of this trope, not part of its definition. Plus there are plenty of cool horses in mythology that have clear illustrations that we can use.

I don't particularly like this image, and I happen to find the motorbike horse much more amusing. Ancient art can go fuck itself for all I care.

While I have no problem with the current image, Silver should probably be considered: "The Lone Ranger's horse is so cool that he fought bears and had 36 issues of his own solo series." (One of my favorite Weird Comics Facts.)

Oh, and we have an image links page full of suggestions. Incidentally, I'm opposed to all of them.

I myself prefer Pegasus, because he's probably the Ur-Example (Even older than Slepnir!).

Eh, seems more like Automaton Horses to me.

There's plenty of more good looking Pegasus pictures though.

I should add that I just launched a page for Pegasus, so that would be covered no matter what picture we go with.

No, Automaton Horses is about organic horses not requiring any of that pesky, plot-hindering care.

The memetic motorbike horse actually isn't. It is just a normal horse with cool decorations.
(That all horses in Sengoku Basara fall under Automaton Horses is beside the point)

I vote to keep. Should we do single prop or do we find immediate replacement anyway?

If I get a chance, I'll go through the examples and see if I can find anything; that being said, I still don't have an issue with the current pic.

I'm in favor of Date Masamune's Motorhorse from Sengoku Basara. The only reason why it exists in the series is because of the Rule of Cool. It's a regular horse, but it's got handlebars and exhaust pipes, just because it can.

Maybe Maximus from Tangled? 1◊, 2◊, 3◊

I'm comfortable dropping the Pegasus pottery, since Pegasus has its own subtrope.
