Wait, what!?

As it turns out you will be able to play select PSP games on the PS 3 with HD visuals, and PS 3 controls. You can also import your save data from the PSP version.

So far the only game announced for this is Monster Hunter Portable 3rd

Okay this is awesome. Here's hoping they do this for Dissidia Final Fantasy. cool

Here's hoping they make Peace Walker compatible.

I already have a cable that plugs my PSP into the TV. Can't see this being very meaningful to my life, and frankly upscaling all the models takes a lot of valuable man-hours away from making new games. Unless they don't upscale them in which case it's completely meaningless.

But... Then it's not Monster Hunter Portable 3rd anymore...

Also, if they're sending the PSP ports straight to PS 3, does that mean that they're planning on killing off the PS 2 soon?

And "Reality" is unveiled. What did it want...? What did it see...? What did it hear...? What did it think...? What did it do...?

No idea.

All I can suspect is that the PS 2 is still making a profit,so they probably will keep it around for a little longer.

New theme music also a box

They're releasing that game for the PS 3 NOW?

How many years late are they? It was announced years ago, then they cancelled the game for the PS 3 and made it a Wii exclusive. Then they ported it to the PSP with some new features. And now they're porting the PSP game to the PS 3...

Wouldn't it be better to just start a Monster Hunter 4 instead?

A way of playing PSP games without having to be in the proximity of a PSP? I wholeheartedly approve.

Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.

...Huh. I wonder what other titles they'll be porting over? Maybe Valkyria Chronicles II or III...?

I would give Sega and Sony all of my worldly possessions to make that happen.

Sadly, jack and shit probably doesn't add up to much.

I'd buy Duodecim and Birth by Sleep for the PS 3. Also I'd hope that if Valkyria Chronicles 3 is redone for the PS 3 it'll actually get localized...

Given all the bragging Sony's done about SDK compatibility between the PSP2 and the PS3, I strongly suspect that these PSP-to-PS3 ports (not upscaled, but rendered native in HD, among other enhancements) are probably a peripheral product of ongoing PSP-to-PSP2 port efforts.

IDC about trophies either. On another note, FUCK YEAH. I'll give Nomura my firstborn's soul if they port Birth By Sleep and Dissidia.

I'm seriously thrilled about this. Issues of graphics upscaling and lack of trophy support aside, it's FREAKIN' MONSTER HUNTER ON PS 3 FINALLY. This is going to ruin my life, and I don't care.

It'll be interesting to see what else gets ported. I'd definitely be interested in the Valkyria Chronicles sequels since I haven't played them yet, and I'd give Dissidia Duodecim consideration even though I already have it on PSP.

PS - It has occured to me that since save data is transferable, I could get MH 3 P for both systems and play it even when the TV is otherwise engaged. I don't think I'll go that far though :P

Other than the save transfer, how is this different from porting some games from PSP to PS 3, exactly?
