Fake news you can trust.

The Babylon Bee is a satirical news website that can basically be described as an evangelical Christian version of The Onion. Each weekday, several fake news stories are published, often satirizing Evangelical Christian culture or commenting on current events from a conservative Christian perspective.

The site was founded in 2016 by Adam Ford, who left in 2018 to pursue other projects. The current CEO is Seth Dillon.

In June 2019, a Babylon Bee podcast was launched by editor-in-chief Kyle Mann and creative director (read: Photoshop artist) Ethan Nicolle (illustrator of the webcomics Axe Cop and Bearmageddon). There are two types of episode: one where they discuss some of the site's stories from the previous week before moving onto a main topic, and another where they interview a guest, who have ranged from political commentors Michael Malice and Dave Rubin, Christian apologists Greg Koukl and Jeff Myers, Christian celebrities Kevin Max, Mike Nelson, and Kevin Sorbo, and other figures including Bishop Barron and Elon Musk.

Their YouTube channel can be found here.

The podcast provides examples of:

  • Hypothetical Fight Debate: One of their standard questions in their interview show is pitching some hypothetical match-ups.
Who would win in a fight? Bishop Barron, or a Balrog?
  • Running Gag:
    • They ask all their guests if they've ever met the Christian musician Carman, regardless of how unlikely that is.
    • They also ask their guests if they'll commit themselves to Christ, altar-call style. Since most of the guests are Christian, most say yes; the podcasters act as if they've gotten a new convert regardless.
  • Sound-Effect Bleep: Swear words are censored with [FLOWERBED!].
