They should just copy what they did with the handheld Final Fantasy games and put them into the console. I don't even care if they make it 2D. Feel free to give it a cliched story. But just do it well. A cliched story done well is perfectly fine. Just...don't make the games as easy as the Tactics Advance games. And stop making it so sci-fi.

But anyone notice how much better Ivalice and all the characters(especially the Vieras) looked in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance than in Final Fantasy 12?

The Vieras in FF 12...looks kinda ugly. What's up with that?

As for this thread's actual topic...I don't think I'll ever see a Einhander sequel anytime soon.

I would not be averse to a sequel to Final Fantasy VI—the characters themselves have mostly concluded their paths, but the setting could get interesting now that half the ecosystem's been wiped out.

"What happened to Deus Ex? "

They stuck the name on a monochrome shooter with forced boss battles, regenerating health, cover system, Notice This, and no recourse management (plus one of the previews I've read between the lines of says you are never vulnerable). This may have been underway before they got Edios and not their fault but I forget.

edit: great, why doesn't color work on the forums? It's the only tag I can think of that doesn't work on the forums and only on the wiki.

edit 2: nope [[yellow:text]] doesn't work either. I'll ask on the tech wishlist. There goes that joke.

I was under the impression that this was their policy anyway.

Not much of a shame for me, so...

This.

And I really can't blame them. How much success do their non-Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts/Dragon Quest games, that are no The World Ends With You, even have?

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.

Fine by me. Keep cranking out those quality FF/KH/DQ titles, and I'll be perfectly happy.

Maybe it's time to stop trying to read between the lines of previews?

Depends. How well did 3rd Birthday do?

Obviously you were never in the Mass Effect 3 thread.

I'm glad to hear this. The faster we get FF Versus XIII, the better.

The soonest I can imagine Versus XIII coming out in regions besides Japan is late 2012, honestly. Although hopefully Type-0 will be released outside of Japan this year.

B: Enjoy a Final Fantasy game without any magic.

At least FFXIII-2 has been confirmed for a worldwide release this year, I hope Versus gets the same treatment.

And how much do you wanna bet that because of this they are gonna reveal Final Fantasy XV at E3 this year?

Geez. I remember when neither Square nor Enix could do any wrong... Sometimes i miss the PS 1 days.

This isn't a nostalgia filter for me; I've replayed their old games just as recently as I've played any of their new games.

For me, the Final Fantasy series has developed from superb into reliable into "tell me if anything worthwhile comes out." And Kingdom Hearts started strong, but hasn't developed coherently as a story.

Obviously, making video games is a business; the object is to make money. But I think that when your business is creating works of art, you should be treating it as more than just a job. And I don't get a sense of that outlook as much as I used to.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.

I think the best thing about the PS 1 days was how Squaresoft still did noteworthy experiments. Looking through some ads of the time make me kind of depressed. When's the last time they tried making games like Bushido Blade, or Brave Fencer Musashi? Or regularly spread out and did new RP Gs like Xenogears and Parasite Eve?

Well, there's The World Ends With You, and, um...I got nothing else.

Though they still experiment gameplay-wise, they just tend to put those games under the Final Fantasy name.

Really the last big risk that they made was the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

Before many was baffled that the thought of Final Fantasy having a true sequel but now with X-2, various XII spinoffs, online games and XIII series, those very same people cannot believe it is true. Myself included. Just what happened exactly? Squaresoft and Enix were known to experiment and make awesome games and experiment with them but Square Enix is not creating new stories anymore, just whoring graphics.

I am not pointing fingers now. *cough* Wada *cough* <.< >.>
