Last night...

After the interruption, Kyle had decided that now was as good a time as any to go to bed. Hopefully, whatever the next day would bring wouldn't be too tough to handle...

That was certainly an adventure. I was lucky that everyone arrived when they did, because I don't think that I would have stood much of a chance. From what the data I retrieved told me, these guys are trying to capture Trope-Tans for some reason. I've got a really bad feeling about this. I can't help but wonder why, though. Is it to gain their powers? To get whatever information about the multiverse they can?

...

All I know is that I'm going to stop their plans or die trying... and I'm not going to let the latter happen if I can help it.

— Kyle

Kyle had awoken some time ago and helped the others to put the Raven's Claw in the water. Just as his ship had transformed, so too had he. His lightsaber's hilt had changed from its' normal silver and black to a brassy colour, with an engraved handguard curving around one side. His clothing, however, had a far more dramatic change: a black tricorne hat with several brightly coloured feathers attached to it had mysteriously appeared on his head, while a heavy coat trimmed with gold was draped over his shoulders. His pauldron had disappeared, but his shirt and trousers had remained mostly unchanged, the former becoming more frayed at the edges while the latter became baggier. His gloves were not changed in any significant manner, whereas his boots had changed.

"Well... this certainly wasn't what I was expecting," said Kyle, who had only ever had experience with pirates that operated in an entirely different way. Taking the wheel, he was ready to keep an eye on the vessel's progress. "Uh... can someone tell me how to sail this thing? This is a new experience to me."

That was putting it lightly, of course. He guessed that the wheel was meant to change the ship's direction, but for all he knew it would operate the sails or something equally as random.

Guybrush looked over to Kyle, asking how to steer. "Someone help Jim."

Rogue began helping Jim pull the anchor up, as Guybrush went over to the wheel.

"The wheel is for steering the ship," Guybrush explained to Kyle. "Since the wind is blowing from the southeast, the ship is going to drift towards the northwest."

"By turning the steering wheel east, we can counteract the ship's natural movement west and go north, once the sails have been unfurled," Guybrush explained to Kyle. "North being the direction of the pillar of light for lack of a stable landmark otherwise."

"Thanks," said Kyle, correcting for any drift in the ship's travel. "I guess that you can teach an old dog new tricks after all."

The activity was actually rather relaxing, he realised. At least he wasn't having to fight someone for the umpteenth time. He wouldn't mind doing it some other time, perhaps when they weren't trying to get back to their respective universes.

Rey opened the knapsack that had been his duffel bag, blinking at the sight of the long wooden pole. He pulled it loose, examining it...it was a sturdy but simple crutch, a cane with a wide top that was just long enough for him to put under his arm and lean against, apparently well worn. He rolled his eyes, but got carefully to his feet and gingerly put the crutch under his arm, leaning on it to test whether it could hold his weight. He was more than a little surprised to discover the rickety-looking thing actually held quite well...he couldn't precisely sprint on it, but it was better than nothing. He headed forward to where the wheel was, glancing around as he did.

A man crawled out of the waters of the beach, hacking and coughing as he struggled to get onto his feet as ropes of seaweed stuck to his clothes, dragging behind him as he progressed forward. Though his skin was incredibly pale and he nearly looked like a living corpse, he looked like a cutthroat pirate for sure; His leather longcoat and trousers were black, and he wore a stylish but dripping wet cravat. His hair was even whiter than his skin, and multiple scars covered his grim face. Either he was some sort of undead pirate or the curse affected him severely, by the way he looked.

Dazed and still waking up, the man stumbled towards the small longship. He obviously needed help, but he wasn't asking for any.

"WHOA, man overboard!" Oswald cried out, before epic climbing down from the crow's nest in a rather epic fashion like an action movie from the 1950s. He landed on deck and began to pulled the drenched stranger on board. "Hold on matey, I've gotcha! ARRRG!!" he grunted as he pulled the man in.

The man locked eyes with Oswald for a few seconds when he got on board, expressionless like a dead body.

"I guess I should thank you," He said with a voice that carried little emotion. "But I'm completley alright. This ship is not where I belong. I don't even know where I am, or how I got here. I think I need to leave."

He handed Oswald some golden coins to thank him, which were cold and wet, and made his way back off the ship.

For a second, he stopped dead in his tracks, realizing he had just encountered a friendly anthropomorphic talking rabbit aboard a pirate ship, but after he shook his head, he laughed to himself, dismissing it as an illusion. His pace picked up speed when he caught sight of the nearby sloop.

"Could it be...? That looks just like the ship built just for me."

Eventually, Samus had decided that she should probably check on the rest of the group, as they should have been awake by now. She didn't know how long she'd been practicing on her own, but it had certainly been long enough for one morning, she'd just have to make sure to take some time out so the whip wouldn't be completely useless if she ever had to resort to using it.

Once she had made it back to the Edelweiss she noticed that everyone, or at least nearly everyone, had woken up. That was good, a quick breakfast and then they could get ready for their next challenge once everyone was ready.

"Good morning..." She addressed everyone present. "I hope everyone is well rested, crossing that ocean is going to be a challenge for all of us."

With Rogue's help, Jim got the anchor out of the water, and the brig started to slowly move away from the dock. "Alright! Keep the boats within line of sight! We don't want to be getting seperated today!" Jim said, or rather actually yelled quite loudly, but it came out at roughly regular volume.

"... I need to figure out how to open the damn visor on this thing" Jim added to himself, grabbing at the edges of the little window to no success.

After Sandy reassured Kyon that some of them had some combat ability, he relaxed a bit...not much. It was kind of a downgrade from the people he usually knew. aka a godlike suger-rushed girl and a near-invincible girl with light-speed reflexes. Then again, he should be glad that there were competent people at all. He turned over to the new person. "So, where are you from?"

He dramatically reached into his pockets to pull out his is wrench....

Past, unless there was ten-hour awkward silence.

"It's okay, Beryl." Aki replied, not quite sure where to go from here. "Um, and you're welcome."

That had gone better than she was expecting. At least, as far as she'd even been expecting anything. She didn't have any kind of experience with this kind of thing, and Cain hadn't gotten around to giving her any lessons further than vague advice, but as far as she could tell this was a good outcome. Beryl didn't seem as worried about her wing, at least. Maybe. She might just be hiding it behind the smiles again. That didn't seem like something she'd do, but she might have been. People's feelings weren't something Aki felt qualified to try and be sure about.

Still, the smile looked a lot more genuine. At least, as far as she could tell. People tended not to smile a lot in the Imperium, and they'd smiled even less in the other places she'd lived. Least of all at her. As far as she could tell, it looked genuine enough. That didn't really mean anything, but she wasn't sure she'd have been able to question it even if it was the falsest thing in the world.

Either way, there was nowhere to go from here.

Aki woke up under her coat, with the left side of her face going numb against the butt of her gun and the sound of seagulls circling overhead and waves gently lapping against the shore, which was bizarrely comforting. She also woke up to the sound of the woman in the blue under-suit-thing telling them that crossing the ocean was going to be a challenge and a decidedly cold breeze making a concerted effort to blow through her clothes, which was quite a lot less comforting.

The sea was also looking particularly un-comforting, as was the prospect of losing her coat again. On balance, this probably wasn't going to be a comforting sort of a day.

"Hey Samus" Gene greeted back after he managed to stretch the rest of the kinks out of his back. The actual idea of getting on the open waters wasn't too appealing, and it didn't take too much of a look around to see that none of those of group A probably know a thing about sailing, but that wasn't going to stop them. They were on a mission.

"Right, big day ahead of us, better get into the right mind set" The God Hand said, looking serious... before that cocky smile flashed back, Gene closing his left eye and holding up his right hand, one finger crooked like a hook "Arrgh, mateys! Eat hearty, for today we sail on the high sea! Arr har har!" He said in a rather unnecessarily dramatic voice.

Once the group had finished their quick breakfast and packed up, it was time to head out. "Alright, let's get moving!" Batou said to the group at large, standing on top of the Edelweiss. "Based on what we learned at Cielo city, just hitting the water should be enough to change the tank into something more... ocean-worthy. So just stick by the tank, and we're heading out!" He then dropped down into the tank and started it up, an uneasy smile

on his face.

Once the group actually started moving forward, they would suddenly find themselves lurching in an unsettling manner once the tank got within ten feet of the water's edge. They would immediately notice the hard metal deck that they were all now lying on, and getting up and looking around would reveal it to be quite a ship indeed. Batou would find himself at the wheel of the ship in the captain's cabin, now looking down at his coat- which was now a deep red instead of the tan color it normally was. Inspecting his person revealed that not only did he have an impressive black beard, but his outfit had changed as well, and he was now decked out with a very large number of weapons, mostly pistols and bombs. The best part yet was that his cybernetics appeared to still be there. He returned his gaze back forward, a deep grin now spread across his face, and he bellowed "I like this curse!"

How's everyone doing out on deck? he radioed out to the rest of the group over the ship's intercom. There appeared to be a rather large gun in the way so he couldn't quite see all of them, and it was starting to look like he'd still need spotters, but the ship was by no means an antique. Fortunately the curse also seemed to provide some sort of inherited sailing skill- Batou otherwise would've had very little idea what he was doing and likely would've ended up unintentionally re-enacting the Titanic disaster. Going to need people playing lookout for me, now! Got this giant gun in the way of looking straight ahead. Not that I'm complaining about having big guns.

Setzer glanced at Kyon after having a good look at the sloop.

"The place I came from is so war-torn and depressing I don't even want to say it's name, and it still hasn't recovered from the last event it's been through. But it wouldn't look much different than where we're standing right now. In fact, this one ship looks exactly like one that was being made for me several months ago back where I live." He shook his head. "I'm losing focus here."

He quickly got back aboard the longship, having recovered quickly.

He smirked towards Kyon and Oswald and the rest of the adventurers aboard the longboat. "I would have been stranded or maybe even drowned if you and your crew weren't here to take me along for the ride. Since my money apparently means nothing to you, I'll pay you the best thing I can offer; Myself. From now on, my life is a chip in your pile. Ante up, and well met. Name's Setzer, by the way."

Present

After a relieving reapplication of numbing magic for her wing, Raspberyl spent an hour or so trimming the bottom and sleeves of her new coat in order to get it to fit, then settled into a slightly uncomfortable sleep in the Edelweiss' gunner seat. A small blanket draped over her had managed to keep her warm, but her attempt to curl up on one side in order to ensure she wasn't putting too much weight on her wing

made for a less-than-consistent sleep schedule. Nevertheless, Raspberyl managed to steal a few hours' worth of slumber before daybreak, and the new addition of coffee with her breakfast was an unexpectedly-welcome treat .

Once breakfast had finished and the group finally moved out, Raspberyl suddenly found herself standing beside the bearded and badass pirate she quickly recognized as Mister Batou, also dressed quite differently - She was now dressed in a ruffled blouse, long black slacks, boots, and an completely unnecessary corset. In addition, the diminutive Delinquent now sported an extremely impressive feathered hat, complete with a hold on each side of the brim to allow her small horns to poke through. Tapping the toe of one boot against the metallic floor of the captain's cabin, Raspberyl crossed her arms proudly over her chest, grinning up at the transformed operative.

"Alright, I guess we can both be awesomely badass today. But if anyone asks, I'm the captain, got it?" Raspberyl smirked in mock resignation, not really caring what sort of rank she supposedly had for the day. The important thing was that, as far as Raspberyl was concerned, this was awesome. This wasn't a curse at all.

Minako's mood definitely improved with the addition of coffee. Her part-time job at the mall caused her to develop a taste for it, though she was used to more gourmet coffee. She wasn't exactly sure how to feel when Batou said they would need to drive the tank into the water, it wasn;t that she didn't trust Batou, it was Extremus she didn't trust. Never the less she went along with it and followed close to the tank.

When they hit the water she was pleasantly surprised to find that he was right and the tank turned into a pretty awesome battle ship. She was in the Captain's cabin as well, standing in front of a telescope off to the side. She found herself wearing a rather small, midriff exposing white blouse, brown pants with a stylized dark brown belt, stylized dark brown boots, a bandanna that matched her belt and boots, and ridiculously large cuffs on her wrists.

She turned when she heard Batou and Beryl talking and grinned at their changes too. This felt too cool to be a curse. When Beryl declared herself the captain Minako smiled and saluted. "Aye aye, Captain." She said, obviously enjoying this.

Snake didn't drink coffe, it made your hands shake. He waited beside the tank while the others finished up their breakfasts. He followed behind the tank when they head towards the water, a bit suspicious of Batou's claim that it would be fine. That was put to rest though when he found himself on the deck of a battleship. He found that his outfit changed into a black tunic, black pants, black boots, black mask, and black bandanna. He grumbled and yanked off the mask, tossing it into the water.
