For one thing a few of the wicks mistake this for actual girl's things being pink. For another there's a discussion about actually making that a trope, and this name just invites confusing the two. For a third thing, there aren't that many wicks or inbounds, so this wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I propose renaming it to something like Pink Makes Men Sissies.

I looked at the uses of this trope and from what I could tell, many of them were vague. I also found a few examples(in Pretty Cure Fan Fic Features, Tomboy Princess, and Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka) that I thought clearly seemed to be uses of the trope in a "girly things are pink" way. I think that may be grounds for a rename, but I am not totally sure. I can definitely see how the name might lead people in the wrong direction though.

I guess the kind of name that would be more indicative would be Pink Is Not For Boys rather than Pink Is For Girls.

How about just being direct and naming it Pink Is for Sissies?

I made a single proposition rename crowner here. I think that a rename is in order given signs of misuse in the few uses of this trope (that I outlined earlier) and the potential for future misuse.

Seems ok to me although we could make it a clone of Princesses Prefer Pink.

Raso, read the trope description more carefully. This is specifically about insulting males who wear pink as being girly/unmasculine.

Raso unvoluntarily demonstrates why the name of the trope is bad. And I wouldn't have guessed what this trope is about either (I just thought that it had simply something to do with things, that are associated with girls, that are pink).

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.

Well the name is really perfect for girls with a Pink Motif (That are not princesses since we have a trope for that.) I remembered a thread about splitting Pink Girl, Blue Boy and thought this was it... sorry.

[up] I think that's what he wants the name for. It's just got a trope that shouldn't be on it from the usage.

Actually, I'd still do another name on ykttw, especially about making the confusion minimal.

[up]No, because it still doesn't imply that it's about men dealing with pink specifically. If "girly" was strictly a synonym for "sissy", it would work, but it's not.

Well, now that the ptitle problem is a thing of the past, why not just go with Real Men Dont Wear Pink? After all, Real Men Wear Pink is basically the inversion of this trope...

It has been about a week and with around 85% support for a rename, I think an alternative names crowner is in order, so I made one here. I think Pink Is for Sissies is probably the most direct way to capture what the trope is about.

Done. Just before we finish, should this stay as a redirect to the new name, or move later after making a ykttw that pink is a girl's color.

Good question. If an old title is a good fit for a new trope I figure it should be available as an option, unless we have a mass of inbounds. Here we 15 — so I figure a note at the end of the main text of the new trope would be enough. I'm also guessing people searching for "girls + pink" are likely to be looking for "pink as a girls color" rather than "pink is effeminate".

Oh, and there's the erroneous wicks you found in the first place.

So I support the latter.
