The US chamber of Commerce compares Obama to Quaddafi. The reason is that the President is considering issuing an Exectuive order to require “companies seeking government contracts” to disclose contributions to groups that air political ads.

So, I don't know much about the Chamber of Commerce, though I understand that it makes amalgamations of contributions from companies to give to politicians.

And since when has openness been a bad thing anyway?

It also makes the Co C sort of useless, right? Aren't they there to make donations anonymous?

I don't quite understand why anyone would object to this. It's not like Obama's singling out right-leaning donations.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

With great power comes the ability to pay someone else to handle your responsibilities for you is more like it.

When you take that ability away...

The article goes on to say that the Chamber would be wiling to take action to keep the President from doing so, and echoed a previous statement from the start of the war in Libya.

The events in Libya aren't really a war. It's more like a peacekeeping mission.

Honestly, I'm amazed that it has taken this long. Gaddafi is mentally unstable and seemingly near death. You have guys outnumbering him at all hours. You could probably find this guy sitting on a toilet and kill him immediately. However, Libyans haven't done anything. Reportedly, many of of the protesters aren't protesters but people simply trying to get laid (as the protests were organized from a dating site).

In short, Libya is the Dr. Evil of protesting.

The crafting of the U.S. Constitution required secrecy, going so far as to have armed guards at the entrance. Madison, the only delegate who kept notes on what was discussed, was sworn to secrecy and not allowed to publish his notes until every delegate who attended the convention was dead. In the 24/7 news cycle where any little slip of the tongue could cost percentage points in the next election, we actually need a little less transparency in some areas. The budget showdown some weeks back wasn't resolved until there were closed-door meetings.

On the topic at hand, I support this move. If the Citizens United case is going let corporations invest more in the political system, I say we should at least see who is giving to whom and for what. Let the market decide if their political donations are worth it.

Citizens united gave corporation legal status as people, and thus are protected under first amendment rights. that's what I know what the citizen's United decision is.

"The US chamber of Commerce compares Obama to Quaddafi."

Yeah, remember that time Obama ordered the launch of skud missiles on Cleveland?

Or when his mercs killed everyone in a town in Nevada?

I do agree that the comparison is absurd on all levels except race. Question to all: What's your opinion about the Chamber of Commerce? I will give my opinion after 2 or 3 replies.

I want to know why Obama hasn't ordered a missile launch at Cleveland. Especially if they can do it while the Indians are playing the Yankees.

Does he not care about this country?

I could believe this. They'd only have to come up with a couple of bodies.

Well, Citizens United is a right-wing organization that specializes in smear campaigns. They tried to air hour-long smear campaigns intended at John Kerry and Hilary Clinton but were blocked as that creates an unfair advantage. One of their latest campaigns stars Newt Gingrich attacking anything he can (he also appeared in the pro-Tea Party "documentary" I Want Your Money).

The less smear campaigns on television, the better.

I would pay to see Newt Gingrich attack things. Can I volunteer a bull? A Grizzly bear? Maybe a Fer-de-Lance?

Reality television gold!

According to e-mails obtained by Think Progress, the Chamber hired the lobbying firm Hunton and Williams. Hunton And Williams’ attorney Richard Wyatt, who once represented Food Lion in its infamous lawsuit against ABC News, was hired by the Chamber in October of last year. To assist the Chamber, Wyatt and his associates, John Woods and Bob Quackenboss, solicited a set of private security firms
Bob Quackenboss? That's an actual name? Christ, and I thought things were out of hand when I learned that the Koch brothers had hired, as the executive vice president of Koch Industries, a man named Rich Fink.
