Character Development Thread--Discussion:

Maybe have her attack some of Agustin's arguments?

Eh, that's only part of the problem. There's a lot of people in the sparring room, and I'm not sure to what extent - if at all - she should interact with them. And Xavier keeps 'stealing' a lot of her arguments.

Hrm.

There's something about Quest that makes me feel... odd. Not sure how to put it into words, but I might as well give it a shot.

Barring one or two, all of the ideas so far just seem to be Character Place, with little to no consideration as to how they would work. They're just locations with nothing behind them, and I think that we should flesh it out a bit more. Should there be an overarching plot or no? Is there going to be a "theme" we want the characters/setting/tone to follow? Are there any limitations we want to have or avoid? And so on and so forth.

I agree with Tera. There should be a rationale behind each location and the features it would have, and an understanding of how they would promote character interaction and development.

I think we really need to pin down, first and foremost, what people want this thread to be from the meta standpoint, instead of focusing on specific details.

(My dilemma in Mansion stands).

Aseyu just did something quite attention-grabbing. Might Krajn have a reaction to that?

I genuinely don't know.

Crap, my attention was drawn away by other parts of the internet. I'll get back to posting.

As for the next non-casual thread, I don't have a strong opinion. I prefer to take what's given and learn to work with it (unless I'm extremely against the idea).

I think I've already weighed-in on the non-casual thread suggestion, but... Well, I don't know, to be honest. If we're worried about limiting what kinds of characters can show up, then I suspect would should have a rather minimal plot with no particularly specific theme. If that's not a concern, then by all means, railroads and thematic restrictions away. Those generally have negative connotations, but they're not inherently bad. Though, personally, I think we should try to avoid such restrictions...

ALSO, I haven't seen Snow White in ages. And I still don't know what we're going to about the time difference that will no doubt emerge if they stay to watch the whole movie... Unless the Mansion incorporates technology from Doctor Who ...

To respond to nrjxll's question: Assuming you're talking about what I think you're talking about, the thing I want most out of it is for it to have a loose plot that gives characters a reason to be there (thus avoiding an Ontological Mystery) while at the same time being able to appeal to the widest variety of characters possible.

On Mansion: From what I read in Resort, the way movies were handled were either via Discretion Shot, or have the characters make comments on the movie's major plot points when they happened. I think the latter would be the best option here, otherwise some of us would risk getting thrown out of the loop.

Also, going to be waiting for Franklin to say something before posting as Grimhilde again.

Still a little stuck on what to do as Krajn.

Also, I feel terrible, which is why I haven't been posting much lately.

It would be good if we could get characters to comment on the major plot points of the film, even if Tamara won't appreciate the talking ( tongue ). But, does anyone here actually remember the plot points of Snow White, much less in what order they arise? Because short of bringing in a new character, there's nothing for me to really post at the moment.

Also, is everyone in the basement?

I remember the major plot points well enough. It's the order that's slipping my mind. Worst come to worst, I could just look up the synopsis on Wikipedia. :P

And there's still a good amount of people who are upstairs. It's just that the basement's been the most active.

Queen orders a huntsman to kill Snow White 'cause she's too pretty. Huntsman chases her, spares her 'cause she's too pretty. She runs off into the woods and discovers the dwarves' shack. Hijinks involving the dwarves stretch out the middle section of the film. Some singing and forest animals here and there. Queen looks into her crystal orb/magic mirror/what have you, discovers Snow White is still alive. Takes a potion that disguises her as an old hag. Visits Snow White and offers her the poisoned apple. Snow White accepts and eats it and dies, or something similar. On her way back, the Queen/hag is crushed by a rock and dies. The Dwarves mourn Snow White and put her too pretty body on display in the forest. Prince that guy comes along and kisses her, 'cause she's too pretty. His necromancy lvl is high enough to resurrect her, and they presumably live happily ever after.

I may have made a mistake here and there; I personally forget if I've ever seen the film all the way through, but I saw bits and pieces in passing through the house while a sibling was watching.

Parlor folks, could you hold on for a moment? I'd like to get a post in before too much discourse ensues.

Never mind, done. Had less to say than I'd hoped.

Nothing personal. But 42 seconds? I'd been working on that post on and off for like a half-hour on the assumption that you were waiting for a response, and then you post 42 seconds before I do?

Sheesh. Really not sure I want to do a rewrite now.

Incidentally, what Krajn just said is actually the "canonical" explanation for the Most Writers Are Human thing as far as my characters are concerned - the Gates she's talking about are an established part of the setting, and I don't like it when the CDTs go too meta, so I prefer to have a way to shut things down, where my characters are concerned anyway.
