Character Development Thread--Discussion

School's starting for me, so posting's gonna slow down. At least one post a day. Two, if the replies come faster than usual. Not to pressure anyone to post more frequently.

My idea for Chloe's location was near the Tipsy Toad (she didn't go far from it). Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough. ^^;

For new characters that appear in the Capital, they appear first in the Visitor's area yes? I want to introduce myself and my characters to develop them. It should be fun...

Not necessarily. You're perfectly allowed to introduce characters virtually wherever and however you'd like. The visitors center is there as a means to facilitate joining if you haven't got any better ideas. And speaking of which, it's sometimes a good idea to eye a character or a group of characters beforehand and writing your characters into the thread in such a way that they quickly encounter said character or group of characters. That way you don't have to write them wandering around or speeding across the city if you don't want to.



In other news, Tempest Knight, I hope you aren't quitting frontier just cause of a little controversy. Yeah, the demon thing escalated kind of quickly in kind of a very public area, but that doesn't mean you've got to kill your characters off and leave the thread. Live and learn, right? I mean surely there are other avenues that can be explored, aren't there? As it stands, I'm pretty sure only three other characters are out in the desert right now, and I know for a fact that two of them had very minimal medical supplies that have already been partly used up, so...

Well, that certainly is good to know I just thought that I needed to resolve the whole thing before it got too out of hand.

Ah ok. I can drop them off anywhere I want to? Well, I would want for them to be introduced in Visitor's Center, as to not let them challenge other characters out of nowhere (they're being written with a Fighting Series in mind).

Actually, I shouldn't even be asking. I've got plenty on my plate without the CDTs...



One other thing, for the pub group. I forget if I made it very clear in his intro descriptions but Howell is pretty young. He's around Adam's age, which is 14 if I'm not mistaken. That should be reflected in his height and the sound of his voice, despite his otherwise kind of inhuman appearance.

I mean, I guess there's still a chance that Henry might worry about something dangerous or violent happening just because of his unusual behavior and somewhat alien appearance, but—at least in my mind—Howell isn't supposed to be particularly intimidating.

For the group traveling on the plains, I've been assuming that, based on previous posts, Cyrus and Anne are acting as a sort of rear guard while everyone else is up front. Hence why Anne has only been interacting with Cyrus recently. However, recent posts seem to imply that everyone is together and within earshot. Which is it?

@Ryuhza. Yeah that's what I was trying to go for with Henry's behavior. For all he knows Howell's 14 is his 100 and he doesn't want to take the chance. That and all Henry will really do is use the revolver for intimidation and bolt at the first chance.

It is a bit unclear... What I do know is that that Hoshi, Suela and Crowe are all, vaguely, towards the back of the group, and Kito wasn't/isn't far ahead of them, IIRC.

None of the Terra Nova group is experienced with non-humans and wouldn't have a clue what Howell's species is supposed to look or sound like. For all they know, he could be older than Wolfe - hence Kris' deliberate belittling phraseology.

No Fontier post today. Probably/possibly tomorrow.

I guess I'm also taking his chumminess with Adam into account. Granted, that hasn't been expressed a great deal.

I'm sure that, more than anything, I'm just forgetting that you folks don't know any of the details about the character that I don't state in the thread. Maybe I should be more descriptive...

Hopefully I'll get to go into why Howell behaves the way that he does this time around. Then again, he was present for the entirety of Archipelago—which lasted something like 11 months—and it didn't really get explored, so... eh.

I'll wait for Tro to post first before posting for Samuel.

Though my posts might not come for a while. It's homework cramming time, and I've got a class this evening and a test tomorrow to study for. Plus there's a lot that's gotta happen in the posts themselves. Sorry to hold so many folks up.

edit: Actually, I've still got three hours left before class and I'm almost finished with the homework. Could be that I can get a post out before then. Or... y'know, during then.

Posting might slow down for a while because I can only do it at school now. Internet in my rooming house has been down for the past few days except for a short while yesterday when I tried to do my online Mandarin quiz. And the Internet died again right when I tried to save my answers. Because of course.

My new computer has finally arrived!!

I haven't set it up yet or done anything with it, and I might wait until tomorrow, but once it's taken care of I should finally be to join Frontier.

Won't be done with posting in capital during class I'm afraid. I've had some time to type, but there's been a lot more to type than I'd anticipated. Plus my laptop's battery drained unusually fast.
