Writing Seduction

There are two distinct types of seduction that take place in my story: Female seducing male and female seducing female. The two seductions are very different in their execution: the first is meant to be disturbing, or at the least thought- and discomfort-provoking, and both characters are drunk; she more than he, and their judgement is mutually impaired.

Both characters involved regret it deeply when it leads to pregnancy, and a very unhappy marriage for matters of propriety (on his part, not hers - he is seen as the one needing to save face, because the child is his, and she took his virginity despite protest (ahead of the woman he wanted to take it - in a case of Unrequited Love, his advances did nothing to woo her.)

The second case is still meant to provoke a vibe of "Hey, is X okay with this?" (in fact, she is, the two women are lovers - seduction for them is foreplay) But also to convey that, in spite of their appearances, together they can both show who they really are: the controlled, established noblewoman has a spontaneous, very lustful side and the self-centered, rough, rude, rely-only-on-myself lover is actually quite vulnerable underneath her armor, and craves trust and the ability to feel truly secure in someone else's arms, while enjoying being seduced.

I've enjoyed writing both seductions, and have had great fun in making them very different from their original forms (the first one was once Its Not Rape If You Enjoyed It and Rape Is Okay When Its Female On Male; the second was once very uncomfortable and all-but-forced on the other woman.)

Written any seductions yourself? How'd you do it? Please share! smile

My only real seduction scene was more of an Indy Ploy by the main character against the man who had just raped her to get him into a vulnerable position. I have a hard time writing something seductive, mostly because I have more kinks than anyone I know.

The only seduction I have involves Mind Control, and I made my Dad write it. Oh, and I have an impulsive sex scene at the end of one book that basically exists because I had to get a certain character pregnant for plot-based reasons. I hope it's not too jarring, it probably helps that both the people involved were in a heightened emotional state at the time (they were EmotionEaters and had just overfed).

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Having to write a female-on-male rape scene as of right now. It came about because I knew this character was the mother of another character, and this whole section was about how she met the dad...but she (attempts) to be emotionless, so her being seduced doesn't work. In the end, her raping him to "prove" she has no emotional attachment was the route that made the most sense for the characters.

It's awkward, to say the least. And I thought I was afraid of people reading things over my shoulder out of context before.

Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna.

I have one character in my story that I like to liken to the car-crusher in Brave Little Toaster. If she seduces a character, you can guarantee that the moment she moves on, that character will never appear directly again. (She finally winds up becoming an Asshole Victim when she stumbles across The Bluebeard.) Two of the five characters she gets with are flat, one is a The Ditz (and, on that note, a No Celebrities Were Harmed version of Tommy Wiseau), one is a semi-sympathetic but still ultimately villainous character, and the last is one of the most evil characters that actually appears in the story as opposed to the backstory.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

I have one seduction a-piece in two of my works. In one, it's mostly implied, and overall played for extreme discomfort in the reader; in the other, it's given up halfway through due to the seducer respecting the subject too much... and succeeds anyway.... and ends badly. Sort of.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.

I've never actually written people straight out seducing each other as it's just not something that happens in my imagination. I've written sexual harrassment and rape (both usually female on male), but not plain seduction.

My stories are also at an extreme lack for relationships without some critical flaw.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

I've had unintentional seductions: One involving the main heroine accidentally seducing a mook, another involved the big bad trying to seduce the heroine (it didn't work out*

), and the last one involved a treasure chest trying to seduce a table lamp (it succeeded in the end). Yeah, I'm weird that way.

I've tried to write a few scenes where a character subtly seduced teh other one, but it never works the way I want it to and at most turns into a big long thing of heavy undertones of sexual tension.

Still it was very... stimulating to write if no one minds me saying.

I've written a few seduction scenes that were never designed to make it into the work - just to give me a better idea of the history of a couple: how they got together, what sort of dynamic and chemistry they have etc. It's amazing what you learn about their characters when they're working up to screwing each other.

One such pairing was a young couple who were High School friends hanging out together as they often had. Both were virgins at the time, the girl basically told the boy (one year younger than her) that if he doesn't hurry up and kiss her she's going to have to jump on him and rape him. She says this in a joking tone - just her way of making light of the fact she's directly propositioned him.

Out of that scene I learned a lot about her reaction to the other guys at High School (who were frequently making passes at her) and her trust of her friend when it came to losing her virginity. I also discovered (the characters just came to life and said all sorts of stuff that took me by surprise) that they'd had to spend a night together the previous year - trapped out in the wilderness - and it was the fact that he didn't use the situation as an excuse to get into her panties that enabled her to trust him.

The scene, as I said, didn't get put in the work - which is set some years later - but it certainly taught me a lot about the relationship they have.

Hey, sometimes the big long undertones are the funnest to write.

I've written a couple of seduction scenes before (and one that I'm in the middle of now), and to me, it's hilarious and fun to do. You can always imagine the most over-the-top ploy or wile for a girl (or guy) to use on someone and watch as the guy (or girl)becomes flabbergasted.

Bonus points if it's in the dark. Or in the forest. Or both.

I once heard that if you're doing this, POV style, you have to make everything sound like it belongs in a porno, until the readers also get er...frustrated. Once you seduce the readers, you can seduce the characters.

Of course, this was for writing seduction in actual porn, so it might not work as well.

@Mr. AHR: I've had that happen with my female-female seduction piece - which is a Lemon, but wasn't meant to be porn. I've gotten feedback from various people - mostly yaoi fangirls or other women on this point - telling me what they've done while reading...in detail. While I meant for the piece to be...frustrating, and I was "frustrated" when writing it, I'd...kind of not like to know where my readers' hands went... I'm sort of flattered, and kind of Squicked, just a little bit. Aside from that, I like writing it, because the relationship is more than just sex. But the sex is fun to write, too. Very, very fun... wink

And it does work, amusingly (or disturbingly) enough in works that aren't actually porn. Granted, I read porn and erotica, so that may be why it seemed to work in mine. grin
