I was just thinking of that same name. It's like One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish for Good Cop/Bad Cop.

I keep meaning to request a rename on this. Common, easily identifiable trope, with a horrific name. Se7en is iconic for several things - none of which are the names of the two good guys.

I apologize for this double-post, but it looks like someone already went ahead and renamed this trope. Given the support for the switch to Old Cop, Young Cop, I do not think we need to go through the rename process again, but if other people want to wait out another crowner, I could put the wicks back to their original name. In the meantime, I made a note on the Renamed Tropes page mentioning this change.

Let it stand. No one raised the smallest objection to Old Cop, Young Cop or even offered another option. Since the work has been done, I've locked the crowner and am locking the thread. I'm also making a redirect to Young Cop Old Cop simply to avoid the "which comes first ? redlinks.

I'm normally quick to defend tropes named after characters but in this case, it's not a particularly iconic set of characters, is it? I'm sure Se7en was a great movie (haven't seen it myself), but it's not ingrained into the public consciousness like many classics are.
