Are the pets the same, aesthetics aside?

Lv. 13 Engineer now. I have an account (earl_of_sandvich), and would like to play coop at some time, but for now I'm playing alone.

[up][up] There are more default options for pets and of course there's probably more fish transformations for the new monsters.

Yes, but are there stat differences between say the Panther and the Hawk?

As far as I know, no. It's all cosmetic.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

so, I've been building my engineer as a tank and I'm at level 27 and pretty much invincible as things currently stand. I have over 2k health, can pop a shield that absorbs another 2k damage, and have a healbot. most regular enemies hit me for 50ish damage a pop. The only time I've been in danger of dying was a phase beast portal with 3 boss slimes at once that all summoned other slimes and split into more slimes when they died.

I hope multiplayer will up the difficulty sufficiently...

[up] Are you playing on Elite? As far as I know Normal is for people with no ARPG experience and Veteran is for people with at least a bit of experience with the genre. Elite should be where you are if you've played Diablo, TQ etc. with few problems.

yeah, I guess I should upped the difficulty. I just kinda always default to normal without thinking in most games.

of course, it kinda makes me wonder if its even possible to die on casual difficulty...

You can actually join servers with different difficulties in multiplayer, so if you want a bigger challenge, just join a veteran server.

Oh man, the Manticore fight is fantastic. At first it seems pretty normal; you see the Manticore perched on a ledge, he drops down, you fight... and then HIS MATE drops down out of nowhere to fight halfway through. Helps that I got a pretty fantastic greathammer called Misery out of it. Seriously, that fight was just fantastic. And yes, you do get separate achievements for felling the Manticore and his mate.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

At risk of causing some flaming (try to keep it civil), what's you guys' opinion of TL 2 compared to Diablo 3?

Also, I think I should get it soom...

honestly, when the manticores mate dropped down my first thought was "OH GOD IT'S MANEATER ALL OVER AGAIN!"

but since my engineer was playing normal difficulty, it wasn't anywhere nearly as bad as that.

Yes, that did leap to my mind as well. Still, I gotta hand it to the devs. They know hot to mix it up every now and then with stuff like that.

[up][up][up] Now may be a bit too late to ask for any opinions on D3 because Blizzard seems dead set on turning it into D2 HD.

Good news everybody! Turns out my game wasn't busted; it's just that the cinematic didn't want to work. Going back into the game dumped me at the start of the game, skipping the cinematic. Now to watch it on Youtube...

As for my progress, when I quit the game I was north of the Enclave and had just been told to find two keys which had been stolen.

Played maybe fifteen minutes of my Embermage, Magma Lance-ing the shit out of things. 'twas fun. I like how the game dumps you back where you were when you logged off.

Is there a way to change the difficulty after creation? Because I'm thinking of jumping up to Elite.

All the servers have changeable difficulties, so if you wanted you could easily just make your own private, passworded server on a different difficulty and play that way.

so, I had a bit of a misshap and lost a ton of progress. I started my game up the other day, and got a message that the steam cloud info was unsynced with my info, and if I wanted to use the steam cloud info or my personal info. I accidentally clicked steam cloud.

my level 26 engineer? now level 14. and most of the stuff in my shared stash is gone.

well, I guess this is a good excuse to restart my engineer on a higher difficulty, at least!

Set up a new character yesterday for a LAN game with a friend. I like Berserker.

[up][up] For whatever reason the Steam cloud is having a ton of issues with the game. The official forum has several suggested workarounds from Runic.

Got myself a level 20-something berserker. I'm having too much fun punching the crap out of everything, and as a result I'm probably investing too many points on passives.

[up]just from looking over the berserkers skill tree, it seems like passives are a perfectly valid way to go.

The only skill that really seems necessary is that shadow wolf lunge attack that heals you for every enemy you hit. Of course, that's just all speculation, I haven't actually played the berserker yet.

anyway, made a new engineer on veteran difficulty, and it actually is sufficiently hard now! I'm having to actually watch what I'm doing on random elite packs now!

on another note, I started up an outlander because I had found a rocking epic shotgun on my engineer, and...well, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing with him skill wise. Curse of blades is the only skill I find myself using on a regular basis, and occasionally entangling shot. How does I play this class?

[up] Yeah, the lunge is a lifesaver. And the passives themselves are pretty damn good. Oh and for anyone intending to use a berserker, when I say everything, I mean everything. Attacking destructible stuff increases your rage, so you can psyche yourself up for a fight by punching down statues.

EDIT: In other news, I have officially contracted Alt-itis. The berserker I mentioned before wasn't my first character (that was an engie) and now I just made an embermage.
