Unsounded

Unsounded is a gorgeous,richly-detailed fantasy comic, starring a weirder than usual Odd Couple. Bratty,rougher-than-sandpaper little thief Sette is being escorted (reluctantly) on her journey to see her cousin by a cloaked sorcerer named Duane. He's not too happy.

It's amazingly expansive in its breadth and worldbuilding,especially as it keeps to a strict Mon-Wed-Fri schedule. The author's put a lot of thought into this.

These cops seem to be good folks. I wonder how this jives with Duane's certainty that Cresce is pure evil.

No-one likes to think of themselves as a villain.

New comics,by the way.

(That's another thing I love about this comic - she posts more than one page at a time when separating would break up the narrative.)

Sette's kind of lovable when she isn't being a brat.

It's certainly well-drawn and well-written, but...I dunno, something about this comic rubs me the wrong way. I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyone else getting this?

I'm in the first flush of fan-love and am quite blind to its imperfections,but let's see if we can't narrow it down.

Animal,vegetable or mineral? Is it:

• The art?
• The characters?
• The storyline?

That whole bit with the Red Berry Boys and that girl was mad creepy. I could see that turning off readers.

Eh, well. Whatever it is, I've got plenty of webcomics on my plate as-is. What's one less?

Dang.

I guess with a lich's magically-sustained mind,you get something like phantom limb syndrome,feeling the pain of the removed body part because the signals are still firing in the saved brain-state attached to and controlling the rotting body. Missing stomach = always hungry. Wait - would that mean he feels he always has to pee and crap as well?

This is a bit of a blip in Duane's (or the author's) memory. Wasn't she crying over how her beloved Da would have her killed if she didn't come through?

Maybe not crying,but definitely afraid.

I didn't remember at first what exactly Sette is forgiving Duane for in the first panel, until I reread the last page.

I laughed.

I like the giant bulldogs they use as pack animals.
