I got my current phone from Radio Shack, and didn't have any problems with the changeover.
The child is father to the man —OedipusI have an LG chocolate touch. Before that I just had a crappy replacement phone until my contract was up. Before that I had a Razor◊(ah...2007. The good days ).

So it's a few weeks late but I got an Atrix as planned. Ended up being $345 due to a few complications, herpaderp.
I just downloaded KakaoTalk at the recommendation of a friend; looks like mobile multimedia IM. Seems a bit redundant when I already have SMS/texting and MMS, although then again SMS has a 160-character limit and is text only.
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comMy smartphone progression has been: Sony Ericsson W950 (last Sony phone EVER without a camera!), ASUS P750, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, iPhone 4. That last one was gifted to my father by his friends on his 50th birthday, but he, being a Nokia fan through and through, found the interface clunky, the closed-off OS uncomfortable in use and the general Macness of it unappealing. So, there you have it.
Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.I've had a RAZR and a Palm Pre in the past, and I currently have a Samsung Epic. It's pretty sweet. Gotta say I'm liking the Android OS.
Show of hands, who still has a Nokia phone?
READ THIS COMIC. | Read along as I play through my games collection!Sony Ericsson W715. I hope to get a HTC Desire HD in the not-too-distant future...
I have a T-Mobile G2 with the Google Apps, acquired last December. It's a pretty damn good smartphone, though I wish the Android Market had more good games.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I don't have a phone.
Otherwise, I would drop my line.
Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! ~ GODWho wants to know my phone number?
LG Optimus S. Not bad for a basic smartphone, although I was hoping to buy an EVO.
It gets the job done, although it would be nice if it had a faster processor and more on-board RAM. I'm considering flashing it with a custom Android build, though.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold. So, upgrading on or shortly after the 13th. On AT&T. Looking at Android phones. Suggestions? Anything to avoid?
The child is father to the man —OedipusWhat's your budget?
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Too low to get that phone advertised as triggering a TSA body-cavity search.
The child is father to the man —OedipusSkype for mobile phones—even if it doesn't let you make Skype calls unless it's through wifi—seems like a great idea (i.e. when you're at Starbucks and wanna call a Skype-using friend without wasting minutes, or if you're in a foreign country). Unfortunately, it seems to be mitigated by terrible call quality, at least on my Android on my home's wireless router.
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comTangential: My stepdaughter got a new-to-her mobile device and went straight to YouTube. The very first line of the very first video she watched was "Why he hell does everything look different?"
The child is father to the man —OedipusI've got an LG Rumor 2. I need an SD card reader though, so I can put music on the memory card I have in it.
"Just because someone showers doesn't mean they don't play games. " - lolacatWife has the Rumor Touch. She likes it, but I find the touch screen to be pretty crappy, compared to a smartphone.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Second time I heard that. A friend of mine has it as well, and said the same thing.
"Just because someone showers doesn't mean they don't play games. " - lolacatThe slide-out keyboard is definitely a nice thing for the avid texter and it feels pretty good for being as small as it is. She had an older Rumor, and managed to rub off the lettering on the keyboard after only a year. I find the menu to be laid out real wierd, though, and the text-messging interface isn't intuitive at all.
So, great texting phone with a touch-capable screen, but don't expect smartphone responsiveness on the screen. It meets her needs well enough.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Ah. I text a lot myself, but thankfully, I haven't rubbed the letters off the keyboard yet. It must take a special brand of superhuman texting to do that.
"Just because someone showers doesn't mean they don't play games. " - lolacatThree thousand a month or thereabouts, I think we figured it out to be, so around a hundred a day. Unlimited texting plan is a must, and even I'm surprised that some people still pay something like ten cents a text - text messages take up very little bandwitdth at all.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Done a bit more research, and now the kind of smartphone I want to own is either the Samsung Galaxy S II or the HTC Sensation. 1080p video playback FTW, especially when I get MPlayer up and running on whichever of the damn things I choose.
So I may be getting a Motorola Atrix soon. Seems like a good choice considering AT&T is really limited as far as Android phones go.
And Amazon is carrying it for $150 (with preexisting AT&T family plan) and AT&T for $200. I'll examine the former to make sure there aren't gonna be complications involving not getting a phone directly from my carrier.
